Rated 3 out of 5 Potential to be "excellent" but needs improvement
We stayed at the Westin for 3 nights in Dec. 2013. We stayed here for the convenience to the airport and because we are SPG members and are loyal to Westin. My impression of the resort is that it was nice when built but is experiencing some tropical wear and tear. There was construction occurring when we were there which I think is good because it appeared they were addressing some of the wear and tear issues.
Service was just okay. Our food servers were pleasant, but we felt that other service was lacking. We had ants on our balcony and coming into our room, so we called the front desk to request bug spray. We were told it would be sent up but it never came. Our shower drain was clogged so the shower would overflow. At the beach area no one approached us to take our drink order, so I went to the bar (not a big deal). I ordered and received drinks and then I waited at the bar so I could sign the bill, but the bar tender told me he would take the bill to me. So I took our drinks back to the beach myself and then had to wait for him to bring the bill. I tipped him and later went to the bar to request a receipt and in silence and with stony-face he tossed the bill at me. It was odd. The only time people wanted to help was when we were leaving. The front desk called twice to see if we needed porters and I said both times no thank-you we only have a couple bags we don't need porters. After leaving our room and on our way to the lobby an employee approached me and said - let me help with your bag - to which I said no, it's okay I have it. Even though I said no, the employee grabbed my baggage handles and wouldn't let go even when I kept my own grip on the bag. We stood there for a couple seconds and he wouldn't let go even though I told him - no, thank-you. Again, it was odd.
Overall the service was lacking and a bit odd. Certain employees were helpful and nice but others were not. We did enjoy the pool facilities, restaurant facilities, and room. This Westin had a nice little gym and lap pool. I would say lots of potential to be "excellent" but needs improvement.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Av80 Ok but not the romantic setting we hoped for
the hotel overall is good however we paid for the garden view room which is a long walk to the main hotel and eating areas. I had medical issues and thus the walk from one end of the hotel to the main lobby was a difficult task, also walk from car park to room was a hike. the room itself was great however the bathroom was way below expectation for the reputation of hotel. the bathroom felt more like a cheap motel rather than a hotel. also although the garden was view was OK, we mostly kept room doors closed due to construction being undertaken on rooms other side of garden area. the hotel grounds were nicely kept and staff were friendly. unfortunately our stay was during power outages and thus a lot of the facilities powered items were unusable, but this was not due to hotels fault. was not the romantic weekend as we hoped

Rated 5 out of 5 by HVS2012 A great place to stay
Our first holiday away with our 8 month old boy. Last week of July 2012, weather was great about 30 degrees and sunny every day. A great time to go as the resort(s) weren't busy.
Arrived Nadi airport and traveled to the Westin with a TTF transfer which only took about 30 mins (booked online).
Check-in was fast and easy. We asked if the Cot was in the room and they said it would be shortly. We were taken to our room via a "golf buggy" vehicle.
Within 10 mins reception phoned to ask if we were happy with our room (ocean view). We mentioned we were still waiting on the cot (arrived in the next 10 mins).
Room was great, clean, plenty of room, a/c can stay on when you leave, bath/shower room was a "wet room". A shower curtain around the bath but not the shower!
Buffet breakfast was great, lots of hot/cold options for all, including our little boy.
Moo Moo restaurant was great, reasonably priced for a resort plus 20% discount if you ate between 6-7pm (plus while we were there, kids meals were free).
As the neighboring Sheraton(s) are also ran by Starwood you can use their facilities and dine at their restaurants (and charge to your room). I would recommend making reservations if eating at any of the resort restaurants.
We also ate at the Denarau Port where there are about 6 or so restaurants and are cheaper than the resorts. Taxi from the resort is 5 FJD each way. There is also a small supermarket at the Port.
All the staff were so friendly especially with our little boy, each day many would greet him by name; our little boy loved them all. The cleaning staff were great, our little boy was sick on our bed just after they had made our room, within a few minutes she was back and changed our bed again.
Pools were great, Westin had a great toddlers pool which our son loved, there was plenty of space to lounge around in the sun. Plus you also have the option of using the other Sheraton pools (about 3 to 6 min walk along the waterfront).
There isn't much of a beach at the Westin and probably wouldn't want to swim in the ocean there, but they do offer a free water taxi out to the nearby island which has a beach and cleaner water.
As we had our little boy with us we didn't do any day trips this time. We would love to book our next holiday here!

My husband and I had 3 nights here in October 2011 after 7 nights on an Island and wished we had more time here. What a magnificent Hotel with superb facilities and friendly helpful staff in all areas. I didn't use the Spa so can't comment there but if it was anything like the rest of the Hotel it would be fantastic.

Excellent service. Ultimate resort experience if you would like to chill out and relax in luxury. Also, if you're a busy bee there is lots to do on this island! You'll never get bored. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay!!!! Definitely recommend to friends

If the tropical setting, luxurious rooms, and superb cuisine were not enough to earn 5 stars, then the level of personal and considerate attention paid by the staff to all guests would merit the rating alone. Vinaka vaka levu to the entire staff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Guillaume124 Good hotel, poor service
Let's begin with the positive:
- the hotel itself is very nice. Nice pools and venues
- the spa is extraordinary. Such a nice location and staff
- Tom from frontdesk delivered an outstanding service. If there is an Employee of the Month award, he gets my vote !
Then why such bad notes?
- I went to Fiji for my honeymoon. Westin was on my shortlist but i prefered another hotel as they replied to my emails quickly (as opposed to the VERY slow replies from Westin...) and offered an honey moon bonus, which Westin didn't.
- I am a SPG customer and wanted to redeem points for a SPA treatment with my wife.
* When going there for the booking, we had a drink at the bar. The waitress asked us to go paying quickly when she learnt we were not staying at the hotel. And she would stare at us until we do... Not a nice way to be welcome !
* I then went to the shop and had to wait 15 minutes at the cashier as the credit card machine had an issue. Back luck certainly...
* Then came the massage story ! I won't go through all the details to avoid spreading my frustration but:
--> we came on Nov 12th to book and we faced issues of miscommunication between SPA and frontdesk, obvious misknowledge of SPG program by Westin staff and no real willpower to help us. After 50 minutes, the lady from the front desk promised she would take care of it and prepare a voucher for the next day.
--> we came back on Nov 13th to pick the voucher, which of course was not ready (we then assumed that the lady promised this to get rid of us). We then went through exactly the same steps and spent one more hour to book the spa... Tom from the front desk finally managed it and walked us to the SPA to give a final point to this story.
the SPA treatment was excellent, fortunately !!
Do i feel special about being a SPG customer? Well, i spent nearly 2 hours to redeem points to book a simple SPA treatment, 2 employees out of 3 just "gave us up" (didn't really want to provide a solution) and didn't know much about the SPG program.
Then my answer is obviously no !

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mark121712 Survided Cyclone Evan
We arrived less than 24-hours before the Category 4-5 Cyclone Evan hit the Islands of Fiji. We were helicoptered off a small island for our safety and to get the mainland of Nadi. The resort was beautiful and the staff outstanding in every way. We had a beautiful ocean front 1-bedroom suite, with a small kitchen and living room, large bedroom and five-fixture master bath. The night before the Cyclone - the resort was festive and all the guests were enjoying the pools, bars and restaurants. The employees waited until the next morning to start locking down the pool and other areas down to give the guests as much time enjoying the amenities of the resort. At all times at least one restaurant was open, along with the shops, bakery, and small snack store before the Cyclone hit.
I am sure the employees were worried about their own families and homes, but they were all there doing their jobs with smiles on their faces and could not have been more pleasant.
We were unable to get any flights out and asked the front desk what the procedures were for extending our stay. Not only did they extend our stay, the actually lowered our rate (by almost 50%) and included breakfast the next morning.
The Cyclone hit Nadi around 4;00PM local time the next day and all guests were advised to stay in their rooms. The terrible storm lasted almost 12-hours and it was extremely powerful and devastating. The major electrical systems (air conditioning) did go down, but there was enough power for lights. Our room did suffer about an inch of water on the floor, but we could care less as we survived the massive storm. As we left the room around 7am, the staff was already at work (over 100 employees in total) cleaning the massive debris, down trees, etc. To everyone's surprise, there was a staff of about 15 in the dinning area serving a HOT full breakfast buffet - all at no charge. By afternoon the bar was open, lunch was being served and the staff was working non-stop to return the resort to somewhat operational.
Throughout the day, even guests and children were helping clean up the debris. By 7PM, less then 14-hours after the Cyclone the staff was able to clear the several hundred yard drive down to the main road for access.
We were able to leave on a late flight and the staff sent us off with a warm smile.
This is how a hotel should be run. Bravo to the General Manager and the absolute wonderful staff in Fiji!!
