Pros: Great location and food with great service at Tide. The pools were five star quality. For the most part staff were very friendly except in passing. Breakfast buffet was plentiful even if we went late to breakfast.
Cons: I think the laundering must have been overfilled as the pool towels often smelled, and bath towels in the rooms were very often covered in hair. One evening we did not even get towels which we only realized after showering so we were toweling off using hand towels. The room had hair on the floor which were still there after five days. The beach towels are very small and quite old.

Very poor service and bad quality even we stay at the Renewal Suite for 6 night at US$600 per night!
We spend over US$6000 in this hotel but it is the worst hotel we ever stay for the holidays!
I am also the SPG gold member but did not get any good quality service at all.
No late check out by last minute information, only spicy food in Dinner buffet even we asked before head as our 6 year old boy can't take spicy food!
The suite is old and not maintain well! The windows are broken and filled with paper.
The living room air cond is not working when outside temp is 35 degree C!
House keeping is slow and not clean the floor and bathroom until we called them.
For sure will not stay at this hotel anymore!!!

My family recently spent 8 nights in a 1bed Villa and it was our best vacation ever! The staff at the villas and hotel were amazing and so helpful. We have a 6yr girl and 9mth baby, and both were extremely well catered for. Our 6yr old loved the kid's club and the baby loved our pool at the villa. The food and beverage at the resort is top quality and well priced. The only thing that could improve the facilities would be an SPG Club Lounge with refreshments etc. A special thank you to Joseph the Villa Manager for all his help. We will absolutely be making a return visit.

We had 4 fabulous days at The Westin. We had planned to do more sight seeing, but the whole family was so happy with the resort we ventured out very little. The hotel was excellent in terms of both the decor, rooms, facilities and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The kids SPG meal deal was really good too, and the buffets were outstanding. Easter Sunday was just lovely, with a petting 'zoo' of rabbits in the foyer, Easter egg hunts and chocolate for the children. The only down side was that we thought the day trips were very expensive for Malaysia.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel lobby we were made to feel special. Bryan ensured that the check-in went smoothly whilst we sipped a chilled drink and cooled down with fragrant cold towels! The next seven days were absolutely fabulous! From to housekeeping to the fantastic spa treatment staff and great selection of dining facilities, it all helped to make our wedding anniversary one of the most memorable experiences! My wife, 2 year old daughter (almost 3) and I enjoyed a superb 7 night stay in a one bedroom apartment.
The resort provided our ideal holiday.
Excellent food (the breakfast was unbelievable), impeccable service (nothing was ever any trouble), great children facilities (although our daughter was too young to be minded, we were able to go with her to the kid’s club so that she could play with the other kids and enjoy some of the great activities. As a result, we saw first hand how good the minders are), total relaxation in a tranquil setting (in the context that we do have a 2 year old daughter), magnificent pools (besides the main infinity pool and a smaller pool next to that, they also had a toddlers paddling pool and a rock pool with water spouting) and all this was in a hot, tropical paradise with the spectacular Andaman Sea as your backdrop.
And did I mention that whatever our daughter ate (when she ate with us) that it was at no charge!
We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Thank you to all the staff at the Westin Langkawi for making our stay just perfect.
We will definitely be returning and we would recommend to everyone.

We spent 5 days in Ocean-front Suite (151 sqm) on the second floor. The sute was just fantastic. Each room had TV. Table for 4 surrounded by windows from 2 sides in dining room and comfortable coach with fruit-table for evening relax in living room. Wonderful big bed with small coach. Big bathroom with 2 sinks, tube and shower and separate specious cloakroom, thus much place too unpack your whole collection of shoes, shirts, pants and dresses.
Wonderful spacious terrace with table for 4 and sitting place for sunbathing with amazing view on the sea!

The refurbished rooms were lovely, bright spacious and the beds were wonderful! The service was very friendly and promt. the pools were fantastic, the grounds beautiful and the buffet breakfast was amazing - we were spoilt for choice.
My only disappointing experience was the spa. I had a Malay massage which was brilliant and a foot scrub. I asked if I could also have my toe nails painted - just for nail polish applied to my toe nails I was charged an extra 50 ringit which is outrageous! So expensive, I could have bought 25 bottles of nail polish for that price, I feel ripped off and it soured my experience. Ive been to many exclusive Spas around the world. I would highly recommend the hotel but I would NOT recommend the spa as it is way over priced

Check-in was way after 3pm, despite knowing we were here for a wedding reception expects us to gather at the lobby at 4pm. While waiting, we had lunch which took us almost 2 and a half hours due to the poor and slow service of taking our orders, serving our food and settling our bill.
As a Starwood Privilege Member, a quite a number of staffs here are not aware of the benefits or discounts entitled.
Am not sure it it was due to the high occupancy or inefficiency of the staffs. The service that we encountered here was not up to standards.

My recent stay at Westin Langkawi to celebrate my birthday was amazing! Stayed at the two-bedrooms villa, it's like a home away from home. service is good but cant say friendly. The Villa Manager took care us a lot, thank you very much. Overall is good, we enjoy so much. Hope to spend more time next time.
P/S the frame of the plug point came out when I plugged out my charger, one of the toilet cannot be flushed and a spider on the curtain, water in the villa swimming pool was a bit yellowish.

What I can only say is wonderful, absolutely wonderful!
Sure it's pleasant experience for my wife and me! Evertything is great in Westin Langkawi. Front desk, concierge, guest service staff are all full of patience, kindness and professionalism; Room, dining, outdoor facilities is also as good as we wish!
So, Langkawi, I will be back! Westin, I will be back!!!

If you looking for romantic getaway or just would like to spend good time with your family this resort will fulfill all your expectation and more. Practically if you don't want you don't need to leave resort at all(we didn't 7 days) because you have all in.If you active or with kids you have from good fitness center to kids club,squash and tennis courts,boats and other games to keep you busy or if you like us who don't want to do anything you will enjoy in amassing coconut cocktails at Splash pool bar all day(thanks Meera and Azhan).All staff so friendly and helpful from front desk to room cleaning, treating you as kings and not the last but first compliments to executive chef Arthur and his chefs for excellent fresh restaurants food choice and last to mention management who is always on top on any issue and always around with great help and suggestions.Thanks to Rajiv,Nico,Riosando and Omar

I was thinking for some time before putting in my money for my stay here. For a Malaysian whom has been travelling to Langkawi very often to work, I don't think Langkawi is that exciting to me.
Howsoever, Westin Langkawi changed my perception and I was glad that I made the decision to take a break here!
Room was great, facilities are awesome and breakfast was a great variety. I enjoy the banana smoothies as well as the superb quality fresh orange they have. Local dish could still be improved but overall breakfast is great!

My wife and I stayed in one of the ocean front villas for our 10 year wedding anniversary , and I must say that it was the most beautiful vistas you could imagine , With the sunriseing and the beach just a step away from your back door of the villa . I travel quite a bit for work and this is a resort well run and everyone of the staff was always looking out for you and your needs .
Mr Schlueter the general manager is doing a great job as are all the staff from the beach and gardern staff to surynum who looked after us .

It was our 2nd Anniversary, and decided on a trip to Langkawi and chose Westin, location setting is terrific also close to the Kuah Jetty Point. The landscape/property/facilities were terrific. Reached the hotel by 1:30 pm and the reception staff were courteous for an early check in (before the stipulated 3pm). Breakfast spread was really good. However perhaps the room (situated in the older wing perhaps) need some upkeep (sofa upholstery was soiled). The Breeze Lounge is excellent (wonderful setting) with the live band.

Stayed over Christmas holiday and really enjoyed this wonderful hotel. We did much research prior to arrival and I do believe it is the best hotel in Langkawi. It is a wonderful location with the best views in the world from the main bar (especially at sunset).
Staff were very helpful with a special note of great service from Umi in the main bar. Staff were just making such an effort to really make our stay memorable.
If you like activity then I suggest only 3-4 nights to totally relax and then move away from Langkawi. If you want to do nothing for 2 weeks then a perfect place.
Expensive but worth it. We did NOT pay for sea view to attempt to save money, but probably a false economy because our room had no view, although it was a great room in all other respects.

Keeping this short, the management of the hotel (Jana and her team) were simply first class - the best of any anywhere in the world and I stay in hotels two or three times a month.
The only downside is that the hotel needs refurbishment in some areas e.g. the bathrooms, the restaurant areas and some perimeter buildings. Things not in control of the staff.
In addition the Wi-Fi was poor and would be difficult for business people to communicate on conference calls etc.

I have spent three days at Westin Langkawi. Overall I'm satisfied with the facilities and the services there. The pool is impressive and the breakfast is sumptuous.
One of the nights during our stay we took taxi out for dinner, however the taxi driver did not know the place and wanted to take us somewhere for dinner. At the end, he was angry with us because we were only willing to pay what we had agreed for. We were shocked that the taxi driver went into the restaurant and took us picture. When we were back in the hotel, we reported the incident to Mr Faizal, the Front Office Manager, he was very patient in attending to our case and made sure that we would not be disturbed. For that we really appreciated the service.
The next day the tour guide was late by half an hour in picking us up from the hotel. Thanks to Ms Zauyah who took the initiative to call the travel agent for us so that we can get on our tour at the end.
Thanks for the kind service and I am sure you will continue keeping up the high standard of service.

Stayed at Westin as i have to attend a friend's wedding reception at the hotel. During check in on 23 Feb 2013, we were asked to wait for more than 2 hours for the rooms to be ready. Got the rooms only at 3pm. Another friend of ours had the same experience, but worst as they we told numerous time to wait 30mins and each interval the replies were "rooms not ready". During the reception dinner, food was terrible!!.. For a 5 star hotel, it's unbelievable that food served were so bad. Beef served were tough.

Arrived at hotel at 11.30am, and was informed that we would be getting a newly-renovated room, and that the room will be made available soonest, with guaranteed check-in at 3pm. Unfortunately, by 3pm, room was still not ready as it the renovtions were literally being completed! Finally got in at 3.15pm, although room was still rather 'rough around the edges'.
The stay howeve picked up as service staff (especially at Seasonal Tastes and Tides restaurants) were truly excellent. Food was also really good, and hotel facilities (especially the pool) were good.
In summary, we had an enjoyable stay (apart from the poor start), and would definitely return. However, on the basis of the good hotel facilities and food, a excellent service, would strongly recommend the hotel to friends and family.

In the hotel, I am very enjoyed the service, facilities and the swimming pool. Besides, the buffet breakfast is very great and delicious. I will recommend this hotel to my friends. On the other hand, I suggested the hotel to remove the iron bar on the poolside of main swimming pool because it obstructed for sight seeing while enjoy the swimming pool and swimming therein.

Unfortunately my first impression of the hotel was not great due to the fact that our room was not ready and we were unable to check in until 5pm (check in time is 3pm) as our room was still occupied. The receptionist was very apologetic and did give us a 50% discount for lunch and a complimentary massage for my husband and I (which by the way was fantastic). The hotels outlook is absolutely breathtaking and the buffet breakfast is to die for.

We looked at other hotels in Langkawi and decided to stay at the Westin hotel (two rooms) to expect high standards of service. However, during our five days stay at the resort, we experienced a number of problems which included:
1. Uncooked chicken was served with our lunch.
2. The overall quality of service received was below the expected standard at a 5 star resort.
Details of problems experienced were reported to a member of the hotel management team prior to our departure..

Great staff, did their best. However, parts of the hotel smelt really bad - must have been near the bins (level 41xx). Had to order at the bar for drinks/food, not once did anybody come along and offer when by the pool. Notices for events were out of date - our son was looking forward to the kids cooking activity all day, then we were told it is no longer on even though it was displayed at the restaurant. Rooms got cleaned quite late in the day.
All of this points to some staffing issues - that is the number of staff you have is a bit low and some organisational stuff. It looked like a top hotel, but after 24 hours it was clearly not. I'd only ever come back if it had a refit or was under new management. We had a great holiday, but as we've been to much better resorts we had high expectations. Best of luck...

Checked in on the 10th jan and upgraded to a villa - wow it was fantastic. It accommodated our party of 7 in excellent fashion and we had a wonderful memorable time. We had lots of space and had wonderful service from our villa host. The only bad thing about our stay was the room service was not always 'express service' - it often took a long time to arrive and it was always arrived cold - luckily we had a microwave in the kitchen! On our check out day we received a complimentary room in the hotel due to our late flight - although we were extremely grateful - we were shocked how the room was in bad need of renovations like the seaview rooms have recently received. We loved our stay in the villa and were extremely relieved to have stayed there due to the state of the much needed renovations of some of the rooms.

Breakfast at this hotel was excellent. We were both pleasantly surprised by the huge breakfast buffet spread and good quality food and drinks that included Prosecco - what an indulgence! Service at the restaurant and front desk was also excellent - staff were highly attentive, friendly and helpful. Service at the Concierge was not quite so friendly - no smiles when we asked for help to book taxis, in fact, one of them looked downright surly.
Room was nice although bathroom was a little basic. We liked the heavenly bed and slept like babies both nights we were there. The strange thing was that only 1 bathrobe was provided during our stay there - I'd have expected 2 bathrobes for the both of us.
The other thing I liked about the hotel was the 3 swimming pools available for guests. The rock pool and infinity pools were very nice.
