Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Getaway The breakfast was awesome. Love the milk and yogurt. The service was lovely too. One of the staff found the rubber hot bottle for my friend, who suffered stomach cramp. The food at the western restaurant was just ok. The woobar was breathtaking! September 11, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing hotel and staff The W Retreat Koh Samui is such a "Sweet Spot". Our entire family enjoyed the hotel, staff, and amenities. We can not RAVE enough about the the staff. We have been to many resorts all over the world and this Resort and its family have been among the BEST! When we first arrived we thought everyone was just overly nice to us, but we soon found out that this is "their personality", treating everyone like friends. It was quite refreshing!!! Our daughter got a pretty bad sinus infection while we were there and she has asthma so it can get bad so we called for a hotel dr. Although they did not have one on staff they told us how to get needed items in Thailand and called to make sure the pharmacy had what we needed. Our hotel friends (staff) sent FLOWERS to our daugher the next day!!! This is the most incredible and personable thing anyone has everyone for our family on vacation. My daughter was so touched she actually cried when left. The activities we booked were fab and we took the suggestions of the hotel staff and we were very happy with all, diving and ATVing, both a must do. The hotel is a little out of the way from some of the main shopping spots, but you CAN negotiate prices to get to the shopping areas. The hotel van is accessible to take you to these spots and it was convenient, but at times we wanted to do our own thing. Our family LOVED the rooms, the hotel amenities and of course the "Sweet Spot", my husband being an ice cream connoisseur!!! Please make sure to put the W Retreat in Koh Samui on your list of places to go!!! Room Tip: All rooms are absolutely gorgeous. In the jungle suites, go higher to get an ocean view. March 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by You will feel like you are in Europe. Wow, Wow, Wow. Luxury, hygiene, service. 100% satisfaction from the minute you entered reception until you say your good byes. We were treated like Royal by all departments. Respected and assured that everything is great. Staff would go out of their way to meet you request even if it had nothing to do with the resort. I required an elephant souvenir and did not want to leave the resort when Kitty (Catering management team) found time on her day off to locate an elephant and brought it to me. Now that is amazing. My husband caught a bug on day 2 from a drink outside the resort; I was driven to a pharmacy to pick up medication and brought back while a rice soup meal was prepared for my husband by Poh to settle his stomach. I met Jeane, Brian and Robert (management team) who took time out to introduce themselves and make us feel welcome. Now you don't get that at any resort but only at W Koh Samui. A massive thank you and acknowledgement to Kitty for her constant smile and having a chat with us to make sure we were 100% satisfied on a daily basis. I reminded her that there were no magnums in the Sweet Spot fridge when within 20 minutes it was overflowing lol. Thank you Chai for the personal Yoga and Pilate sessions and an effortless attempt to improve our flexibility. We did not attend any other classes after the Pilates class as it took us 5 days to recover from the pain we endured in muscles we had no idea existed. You are a great instructor with lots of patience and enthusiasm. I know I handed out quite a few chocolates to thank each and every one of you but its minimal compared to how wonderful you all were. Even the security gentlemen that were stationed on the corners, irrespective of the heat and humidity they always smiled and bowed each time we passed. The cleaners were so quick yet efficient and so damn good at what they did. The pool boys made sure the pool was spotless and free of leaves and any debris. The staff at the bar were also amazing especially Gift . Her passion to find out more about us and where we come from and amazing mojito's. Thank you also to Jen Beach manager) and Japanese Restaurant for the amazing service, great food and professionalism. Thank you all once again from the bottom of our overwhelmed hearts . Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Hotel and Manager/Staff We spent 5 days here in early Sep. Despite being the wet season we only had one overcast day during which it drizzled rather than poured. The property is set on a hillside leading down to the beach. It is an all-villa property divided into Jungle ones on the hillside (3 tiers) and Ocean View ones at the top tier, Tropical nearer to the beach and Ocean Front actually facing the beach. The property and surroundings are very pleasant and we enjoyed simply walking around. The hills are steep and provide good exercise, but there are buggys to drive you around. The resort is well-maintained as are the rooms. Be aware that it is designed to be a contemporary resort, and you will not see traditional thai architecture here. WYSIWYG. Breakfast was excellent, with some minor changes every day for variety. The restaurant is perched on a cliff overlooking the sea/bay and affords fantastic views in the morning. We also tried the Japanese restaurant which could probably do better. The famous "Sweet Spots" were very welcome, and well-patronised :). More choices in flavours would have been appreciated. The gym and spa looked well-appointed, though we did not use them. The communal pool is long but rather narrow. Since each villa has it's own pool you will probably spend more time in your own pool - we did. The beach is clean and the sand fairly fine. The water is murky but shallow up to about 50m from shore. There is a sea sports stand providing complimentary equipment. Since the hotel is set on a cape, the other side has minimal beach, but has a constant sea breeze and is great for sitting at the bar and snoozing. Platinum recognition: we were upgraded to a larger villa which was very much appreciated as we had kids with us. We were also accorded a late check-out. As with other W Hotels there is no lounge or drinks hour. The highlight of our trip was the General Manager, and his team. From beginning till end we were toasted and feted like royalty. Team members approched us whenever they felt that we might need help, and yet were unobtrusive. Rather than gush anymore, I will say that they made our stay what it was. September 26, 2012
