This was our second stay, but the little things that I really don't want to deal with cropped up too often.
First and foremost- the wifi is of unacceptable quality. There are too many dead areas and most of the time the internet could not be used. There were NUMEROUS other guests complaining about this. Apologies are nice, but don't correct the problem.
Second- it is very nice to offer newspapers and one of my joys on vacation is having the time to read a morning paper. So I was very disappointed to not receive it on my second morning there and be told that there is no way to prevent other guests from taking it from my door. How about slipping it under the door ?
Third- my wife requested a tee time and was given a different day. How does this happen? It's a vacation and we had made other plans for that day. The front desk was helpful in getting it switched to her request, only to have a note slipped under our door at night saying that it was switched back. After several phone calls, it was again corrected. Too much time too late in the evening had to be spent.
To me, a vacation is a time away from dealing with the little annoyances.
I will come back because overall it is a nice location for a quick break, but if these little things recur, it will be my last time.

Overall this is nice hotel. Its clean and has a nice mix of the old and modern. The pool is very relaxing and my husband went golfing one afternoon and said it was a pretty course. We had one meal at the hotel and it was delicious.
However, we did experience a couple of negatives on our stay. For one, our room was very noisy. We were able to hear footsteps in the hall (and upstairs) and every time a door shut either on our floor or the one above us made a huge slam. We were startled awake from the noise several times throughout our stay.
Second, on the last day of our day there was a thunderstorm that ended up causing the hotel to lose power for about 6 hours. While I certainly don't blame the hotel for losing power, my husband and I felt that the hotel was not adequately prepared for such an event. There was very little back up lighting and they did not have flashlights or glow sticks for guests to use in their room. This was OK during the day and at dusk, but once nighttime came the hallways and our rooms were almost pitch black with no way to get light to brush your teeth or get settled in. So that last night at the hotel was definitely a disappointment. I think the hotel could have been better prepared, especially since this is Vermont and they are probably used to losing power due to snow storms.

I have alot to stay regarding our stay etc. But, right now I am writing about the " PENDING " charges charged to my credit card when I told the front desk NOT to use that card. I have over $1700.00 pending charges ( more than the hotel stay altogether ). It put my card over the limit and put me in an avercharge fee. The card company told me that YOU can call them and ask them to remove these charges. Otherwise they can stay on there up to ten ( 10 ) business days. That means I cannot use my credit card until two ( 2 ) weeks. You have been paid for ALL charges on a different card which I told the front desk TWICE ( 2X ). I athink it would be only right for you to call Discover and have them remove the charges IMMEDIATELY. But, even after that I find that procedure as disgusting. We have stayed with your for at least twenty ( 20 ) years and have never had this experience.
We love the hotel and most of the employees. But, this TOTALLY ruined my vacation and left me with NO money to pay for anything.
IF for some reason you HAVE TO do this, you need to let the customer know. But,I still don't see where charges of over $400.00 for some days need to be TESTED on my credit card.
I called last night to tell you that my credit card company told me the charges total over $1700.00. Is that possible. I was told " yes it could definitely be that amount :.

What did we love about our stay at the Equinox? Absolutely everything. But mostly the staff. From the bell hops to the concierge to the front desk...everyone made sure that we were greeted, attended to with a smile, and always wished us a pleasant day. Everyone had the appearance that they love their job and made us feel our happiness was important to them.
We were there for a three day/two night girls time away. They had service into town and back whenever we needed and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. Both of the concierge staff members recommended and reserved our dinner reservations for us and without a doubt were exceptional recommendations. They couldn't do enough to help us out with any question we had. The young men at the valet helped us with our luggage and were extremely nice and friendly young men and were just a delight with a great sense of humor. One of the girls in our group had trouble sleeping so she went downstairs on one of the couches to read. A staff member asked if they could bring her a blanket and a pillow to make her more comfortable. I have never in all my years enjoyed how attentive the staff was to us and how hard they worked to meet whatever we asked of them immediately and to the best of their ability. I will absolutely stay there again. Thank you to all of you at the Equinox for making our stay a memorable one.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times in the past. The facilities and staff have always been first class but the platinum benefits and recognition seem to be more of a miss than a hit. When the hotel first joined SPG around 4 years ago there no platinum benefits outside of the 500 additional starpoints.... next time that we came we had a box of chocolates in the room (no choice given at checkin re which benefit)... then a year or so later later a full breakfast buffet was added (only to disappear the next time that we were there). After that an additional 500 starpoints were awarded if an upgrade was not available but this seems to also have disappeared. Last fall there was a wine and cheese platinum reception on Friday nights... once again this is now gone (though they apparently still have it on holiday weekends). For this stay the hotel was full so no upgrade was given (but neither was the former 500 additional starpoints if there was no upgrade). Instead of just the 500 platinum amenity there was a choice of chocolates, a continental breakfast buffet for 2, etc. The cold buffet could be upgraded to a hot breakfast buffet for $10/person None of the platinum benefits that I have seen over the past 4 years have been bad (and some, like the wine and cheese reception or the full hot continental breakfast were great) but you never know what you are going to get until you check in.

Just back from a long weekend with the family including 3 little kids. This is the 2nd year we've done it and I continue to be impressed with the staff at this beautiful resort.
The property I think speaks for itself: It is picturesque and comfortable with all the amenities of a resort in VT including cozy fireplaces for relaxing, nice bar/tavern, amazing outside patio, and stunning views. Not to mention pool, playground, hiking trails, and amazing doughnuts on Sunday mornings! We stay in a high room to stay away from crowd with early rising kids and it works perfectly,
The difference with this resort is the staff. Upon arrival I realized I recognized many of them from last October. Complimentary Valet took care of many bags fast and with smiles and laughs with the kids. Staff stopped by while in the lounge to check on us/kids to make sure they were happy. I never felt like we were a nuisances being there with small children. In fact, upon asking for paper for kids to color on Kenny at the front desk provided great activity books for the kids which kept them busy all weekend. This was thoughtful and above what I've come to expect at hotels these days.
As a frequent traveler who's cautious to take the kids on the road I am really amazed at how friendly and helpful the folks at the EQ are. We have decided that this is a new tradition and we'll be back next fall. Many thanks to Kenny and the rest of the team for a great stay, See you next year.

This was our 6th trip to the Equinox. We come up every January for rest and relaxation. The Equinox is great, the spa is heavenly. The front desk even gave us a great room (453). On Monday, our first night, we noticed a cotton swab on the floor under the desk in our room. On Tuesday, we hung the do not disturb sign out early in the morning. However, when we left for downtown at about 10 a.m., we removed the sign. Returning at 1 p.m., housekeeping had still not arrived. I went to the front desk to ask, and was told that they clean the rooms all afternoon, so not to worry. OK, I thought, seems odd, but we could live with it. When housekeeping had still not arrived at 5 p.m. and we left the hotel for dinner, I asked the front desk to please at least just have the turn down people give us some clean towels, clean up the room, etc. When we returned, they did only just that, clean towels and turned down the bed. However, they left the dirty glasses that we had used the day before on the desk and the cotton swab was still there. When we checked out on Wednesday, I took a cell phone picture and showed the front desk. They were quite surprised and said they would take it up with housekeeping. I am sure they will, but for the Equinox not to have a room cleaned for two days and still leave trash inside is quite unthinkable. Like I said before, we love the Equinox and all of its amenities, and will, of course, return, but we were quite taken back by the events described above.

The first interior impression of the hotel is beautiful. The valet staff and front desk staff were very professional and helpful. It was a long walk to my room through VERY COLD hallways (in January) but when I got there the room was also beautiful. However, there was black (?)dog/other hair all over all 4 of the pillows on the bed. I called down and they were replaced, which was good, but I was pretty turned off by that. My room was also VERY cold; I turned the heat up to 80 and had to let it run like that all day while I was out just to get the room to a comfortable temperature (probably 67 degrees or so). The heat was also VERY loud, and at night, every time it would kick on (every 15 minutes or so), I would wake up. I got up to turn it down to the lowest temp (65 degrees), thinking it would not kick on as much, but it still did. Finally I ended up getting up and turning the entire heating system off since I really needed to sleep and couldn't stand the noise any longer. Needless to say, when I woke up, the room was bitterly cold again, and the process repeated. The second night I ended up putting pieces of tissue in my ears to drown out the sound of the heat! NOT very relaxing! The heating vent is located at the very top of the high ceilings, so it would definitely better if the heat came from a lower spot in the room to warm it more efficiently. Overall, although beautiful, comfort is also very important, and based on my experience, I wouldn't stay here again.

I was very excited to return to the Equinox where my wife and I had our beautiful wedding reception 20 years ago with 135 of our family, friends and guest staying in and around the Hotel in lovely Manchester, VT. Quite honestly, for the last 20 years our family and friends would still talk about how beautiful the Equinox was and how the staff treated everyone like royalty. In fact, we have a framed sketching of the Equinox prominently displayed in our house. Sadly, a lot has changed for the Equinox in the last 20 years! I mentioned the stale smoke smell (in this non-smoking luxury Hotel) to the front desk upon my arrival and was told it would be taken care of immediately. It was not done however he did offer me two free drinks in which I declined. I also declined the free breakfast (which was free with the conference anyways) and just calmly asked again that my room be deodorized or that he find me another room. Again, the Equinox staff was unable to help. The shower water was lukewarm and some of the staff wasn't very helpful although they did try. I did explain to the front desk that I was hoping to return with my wife and kids to celebrate our 20th anniversary but it didn't seem to matter much. It is tremendously disappointing to us that we will not return to the Equinox. Manchester, VT is still a beautiful community but I don't want my wife's memory of our Wedding Day (and nights) at the Equinox those 20 years ago to be tainted by a much different and disappointing Equinox experience today.
