In general, the Sheraton resort in Yantai is quite disappointing after staying here for 6 days, it could only be considered as 4 star hotel rather than 5 star resort based upon your service, facility and surroundings.
The lounge waiter and receptionist are very handy and friendly, especially the room cleaning service lady who did a superb job. Your chief standard is very good, they are able to cook the roast meat right to the stand where it should be. And the English breakfast is very good according to the past 6 days experience.
The best waitress I ever experience, she did not only serve us very quick, but also brought us some fruit to ease my son while he was crying for the food.
Things to improve:
THE BEAUTIFUL BEACH is under construction, therefore, you will see bulldozer, crane and digger within your reach. The beach can only be used after the tide goes off, which is likely to 4am in the morning or 16pm evening time or midnight!!! So please check the tide timetable before you go there. The beach is full of fisherman who will turn the beach sand inside out for the shellfish, then spit on top, dump the plastic bags or cigrettes filters. On the beach you could find unlimited rubbish along with hundreds throusands shellfish cover.
As a five start resort, it does not have enough tree and flower as it should be, the garden is also fully covered with dirty soil.
Your morning breakfast buffet service waitress even hasn’t fully open her eyes in the morning and I have to clear my table plate plus serving tea by myself several times in the morning. She looks so blur in the whole morning. I demanded the baby chair, but the baby chair is fully of dirty food that is already dried and sticked upon top. The breakfast plate is broken and several plates have sharpen edge because it is chipped off. The tea service in the morning needs to be DIY and the tea port is always empty. So next time remind us to boil the water and bring it with us before having breakfast downstairs. Finally, when the time you are having the breakfast, you have free partner with you, which is serval flies!!!!!
The service speed is super slow, 3 meal sets was waited for around half hour despite your super highness arogant waiter and waitress who were standing next to me and chit chat with each other. I even thought to go to your kitchen and cook by myself!!! The baby eating sets are very disappointing as well, the plastic knife and fork are still very oily and dirty.
I should name it as night buffet or nightmare!!!! The client demanded the chief to boil the sashimi and pork along within the port which should only be used to boil vegetables, but the most stunning thing is the restaurant manager issued the order to the chief to carry on. Do you care for the muslim or vegetarian customers? They will get the vegetarian noodles along with the sashimi, sea food and the pork? The waiter and waitress are waiting to the corner to serve the guests who is likely to be the local governor or the VIPs, then left other guest to clean up the table by themselves.
As a five star hotel, you should provide the feet washing pool outside the hotel as a beach resort, but you did not!!! After walking on your BEAUTIFUL AND STUNNING BEACH, we walked back to the hotel and ask the waitress to get some water to wash our feet before we step into your hotel lounge or carpet, but there was none. The gardener ask us to wash the feet with the collected rain water to wash our feet which was collected days ago!! So we have to walk into your hotel with the sandy shoe, since you do not care, so do we.
This hotel allows local residence to use the gym facility via membership. But after they used the showroom, then there was no towel. And the shower room was in the huge mess with full of water on the floor.

I booked the hotel via spg in the early morning of the day I flew in. Yet my flight was delayed more than 10 hours and I was stuck at the departure airport. Realizing that it was unlikely to arrive on time, I called the hotel and spg program, trying to move the reservation one day later. The hotel staff was very unfriendly and unwilling to accommodate. Even after spg called them, they requested a certificate with official stamp from the airport, and not willing to check the boarding pass and the flight schedule.
After all the delay and I finally was able to come to the hotel at around midnight. The location of the hotel is not too bad, though a bit remote from the downtown. The facilities of the hotel is generally ok However, the ceiling of each hotel level is surprisingly low, approximately 6'2".
The service is mediocre at most: they don't even bother to replenish lotion after cleaning the room.
Local Shandongnese are known for their hospitality. Yet located in Yantai, this hotel doesn't seem to put guests on top. In all, I would not hesitate to mark the service from this site as the least professional among the Sheratons I have stayed over the past few years.

Although the name is Resort, but the moment you step in the hotel, the overall setting is typical a business hotel.
The lobby is grand and the staff is attentive. only downside is they seems very blur that you feel they still need more training. They even cannot explain the elite member benefit.
As a platinum member, it had upgraded to deluxe suite and panorama suite. The room was very comfortable and nice.
The beach area is still under construction, so the view is not nice as you will expected. The sea water is a brownish and the beach is full off garbage. It definitely not a beach area for you to relax, enjoy the sun or swim.
The area is quite remote from downtown, only a small convenient shop in front of hotel. So it is quite inconvenient if you need to find food or shopping around the hotel. It will take you min 10 mins to go to nearest downtown by Taxi which will approx. cost you RMB25.

I have stay this hotel many times every year with super greet live feel and great sleep. the hotel keeps continue with excellent service mindset and manner, everyone you meet they are always warmly. reservation section and front desk are super great to support/help every time. i really much appreciated them!
Excellent breakfast,swiming pool and nice sea view also are my live.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sheraton Yantai, even though it was just one night. The room was spacious, looked new and the staff were excellent.

Hotel is clean, luxury, and spacious. Hotel employees are friendly and helpful. The location next to the beach is very beautiful and relaxing.

The guest will feel chilly when in the room. The temp can't reach the setting one. No room upgrade for the Gold guest.

As a person who travels extensively throughout Asia, North America and Europe for both business and pleasure, I am continually impressed by the Yantai Sheraton Golden Beach Resort. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. With a special mention for Alice, the Executive Services Manager, who is truly exceptional! The facilities are absolutely first rate and the rooms are exceptionally well appointed and clean with a very comfortable bed. The restaurants are all excellent, with a wide variety of choices. I have stayed at this particular property many times over the past year and have never been disappointed.
