Rated 3 out of 5 by Unsatisfactory Although the setting was five star, little else was five star about the hotel other than the price. To the point it was no more comfortable the a your standard Premier Inn. April 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by VERY GOOD BUT BEWARE OF... ...the 3 men playing their local instruments at the main entrance to the lobby as soon as the taxi drops you off. We thought it is a welcome gesture from the hotel staff and took some pictures but they immediately pulled us and asked for money. We gave them 10 EGP but they insisted for more ! It is a shame that guests are harassed not only outside but also within Sheraton territory. Heated swimming pool is still cold. March 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by SAFE HAVEN I REALLY ENJOYED MY STAY AND FOUND IT A SAFE HAVEN FROM A DIFFERENT WORLD OUTSIDE THE HOTEL. THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS GOOD. HOWEVER UNABLE TO CHANGE MONEY AT THE HOTEL HAD TO FIND A BANK. THE POOL SHOULD HAVE BEEN HEATED WHICH WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT BUT AHMED THE POOL ATTENDANT MADE UP FOR IT. I WAS EXTREMELY IMPRESSED WITH HIM AND HIS ATTENDANCE TO THE GUESTS AND HE WAS ALWAYS SMILING. March 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by A great place for watching sunsets Hotel is facing Nile river and if your room has Nile view it is a great place to watch sunsets. I recommend taking a boat from the hotel's pier for a short trip to Banana island. Otherwise staff was very friendly and made our stay very pleasant. As for sightseeing be prepared to use taxi to and from hotel. It is cheap and there is a taxi rank at hotel entrance. Finally, if you plan to watch movies or enjoy internet you may want to find different hotel. It didn't have Video-on-demand at all and selection of English-speaking channels was very limited. Internet speed was very slow - I even struggled to check my Facebook news feed. January 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by sheraton luxor this hotel is one of the best we have stayed at and most of that is down to the fantastic staff from the management to the the cleaners :} March 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by SHERATON LUXOR - LOVELY HOTEL Lovely hotel with lovely staff - they are amazingly polite and helpful. The pools are both idyllic and the setting is beautiful. The minibus which is free is a great facility to have and takes you well into town. All in all an excellent holiday January 31, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Location I have been staying at the Sheraton Resort since 1990 and seen many changes in both the Hotel and Luxor since then. The staff are marvellous, very friendly and welcoming although the Management frequently seem a little aloof and only converse if you take the first step. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Value, Excellent Holiday Due to the recent troubles in Egypt, Luxor popped up in our radar as a bargain holiday destination: this hotel is no exception as you can stay here for a fraction of its usual price. And for the altruists out there, the tourism industry in Egypt is so battered that you really feel like you are helping the people by visiting the country. The location is second to none, right on the Nile river, there are always taxis ready to take you to most sights, and you can arrange tours with a taxi driver for very reasonable rates. There are two swimming pools, one by the Nile which is more adult-oriented, and another one which is kid-friendly. If you are an SPG Platinum guest you will feel like an absolute star here! We were upgraded to a massive suite with wraparound balcony, and we were the only users of the guest lounge, so we had personalized service by the attendant who was always there to bring us any food we liked from the restaurant downstairs. During the evening drinks he served so much food especially for us we hardly even needed any dinner! Food options are ok, and reasonably good value. They do decent bar snacks by the pool, and there is a good value buffet dinner, although the food is not amazing, but convenient as there is nothing particularly great around town. Staff was very friendly and eager to help, and we never felt pressurized to tip, as others have indicated. The property has a 1980s feel to it, but is generally very comfortable, and has amazing sunset views. Yes, the hotel is an eyesore, and looks like a bunker, but I guess it’s just the architectural style prevalent in the 80s. The rooms are nicely appointed though. There are also feluccas moored just by the hotel so you can go for a sundowner quick cruise. We had a wonderful stay at a bargain price, and would recommend a holiday to Luxor to anyone as it felt very safe, and culturally it had some of the most awe-inspiring sights I have ever seen!
