Rated 3 out of 5 by My recent stay We were right by the elevator and that was just way too noisy. The view was terrible. We had a roof for a view. Room 215 is not where you want to stay. There was no recognition for being a SPG Member at all. The staff was for the most part courteous and kind with the exception of the front desk. The other staff were outstanding and housekeeping was phenomenal. I was pretty disappointed in the overall experience. It is too bad because it is a lovely place. March 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by End of summer vacation My 13 year old son and I had a great time spending the week at the Sand Key Resort. The ocean was just a short walk away across the sandy beach. The only downside was a large volumn of pool crashers (50 plus people) that were playing in a sand volleyball tournament adjacent to the hotel. They basically took over the entire pool area for the whole day. It seemed the staff did very little to police the area that should have been for registered guests only. August 21, 2013

I love the location and facilities. That being said, I continue to be extremely disappointed in the customer service. Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Birthday Ever From the moment I checked into the resort till we left, the stay was PERFECT!!!! The staff made us feel like VIP's. The room was great, clear and attention to detail. The wait staff in the Island Grill gave us 5 star service. All of the staff in the resort were Friendly , always greeted us with SMILES. The level of service in this resort is something that is not seen in many places. We can not wait to stay at this resort again!!!! Thank you so very much August 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by "AWESOME HOTEL" This is our third year at the Sheraton for Spring break and we will be back for our 4th. The staff in guest services met all of our needs. The cleaning staff were excellent and made sure the room was immaculate when we returned. I cannot say enough about this hotel. The gentlemen that take care of the pool are friendly and fun to chat with. The restaurants at the hotel are the best. You can have casual dining, outside by the pool dining, or a more upscale meal at Rusty's inside the hotel. Every year we are down for spring break which is my daughter's birthday. They give her a beach bag filled with goodies and a cake with candles so that we can celebrate while we are there. All the shops and fun places to go are within walking distance and of course there is the Trolley Car. The hotel is on the beach and it is a great walk to the beach to relax in one of their Cabana's by the ocean. 10 star hotel in my book!!!!! March 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Hotel Experience Ever Wow! Every person on staff at this hotel was amazing. The concierge, front desk, housekeeping and guest services ont he phone all smiled and were genuine about wanting to please. Almost like doting parents constantly wanting to make sure I had everything I needed. The facility was spotless inside and out. The restaurants were phenomenal and the food quality exceptional. Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! From the moment we arrived till the last seconds on the property, we were so taken care of! Every person from the person that parked our car to the server that put in the extra effort at closing time to fix us a cocktail as he was trying to close. The view from our room of the Gulf of Mexico was spectacular and waking to that view was a treat indeed. The hot tub and the pool open till 11:pm just finished the day off nicely. Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Nice hotel, but....... The problem my wife and I had was we selected this hotel for our "Tennis Vacation." For the price we paid, the tennis facility was far BELOW our expectations. My wife almost twisted an ankle, as many of the cracks in the court were that severe. When mentioned to 2 different desk employees, we got very little reaction and no explanation. A reasonable "token compensation" should have been offered to us based on the cost of this facility. Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Resort... Adult Only Pool Area Needed Loved the hotel. The staff were fantastic... exceeded expectations on all accounts. Beautiful huge private beach, and great pool deck and island bar. Only 2 complaints: 1) even though we went during school scale n, there were a LOT of children all over the entire pool area ALL the time from open till 11pm close. The awesome pool bar makes the pool area a great place for adults, but there is nowhere to escape the kids. Either an adults only pool area or at least a no kids after 8pm type rule would go a long way to attract both family and adult only vacations. 2) Making you pay for Internet per-device instead of per-room is a total rip off and this needs to change. There is no reason why I should pay for Internet twice to use my laptop and phone on wifi. Other upscale hotels do Internet per room. Again... Overall great place to vacation! April 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by short stay Once again we have enjoyed our time here at the Sheraton Sand Key. It was a last min idea and we not only had a great time but the weather was perfect! When i booked i was acknowledged as being a guest previously and then when i said what i was looking for i was offered the Sand Key/Ocean View and boy i can say we loved it. This is by far my favorite place on the west coast and we look forward to comming back again and again. Thanks for everything September 16, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Loud Guests on a Beach Vacation Attended a business conference - the hotel's support of the meeting and events was solid. Nice beach hotels for that casual experience. However, the hotel made no effort to control the noise level of its guests, including kids running up & down the corridors, banging on doors and generally disturbing the other rooms on the floors. Even the cleaning crew was yelling loudly in the halls. No effort to move us. Unlikely event will return next year. October 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great location by the beach Came to Florida for 2 weeks primarily for taking family to Disney world. Decided to go to the beach for a day and stayed overnight at Sand Key resort. It was awesome. Had a great time. The beach was easily accessible, enjoyed the sunset from our room's balcony. Bonus was the fireworks for some event held at the hotel. Pool is very small for such a resort. Staff at reception and room service was very professional. Highly recommend the resort. July 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This resort has a 5* Hospitality For the past 6-7 years, I have spent a few days at this hotel. From the time one steps out of ones' car, you are made to feel most welcome. The hotel lobby has great ambience with wonderful facilities close at hand. The hotel rooms are large and well appointed. One of the highlights for SPG travelers is the Roof Top Club Lounge. This hotel is situated on a pristine beach with beautiful gardens & a fabulous pool area. February 15, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Decent, but better options available The pictures paint a much better view of the property than reality. It's not a bad hotel, just not up to what I thought it was going to be. Watch out if you end up with a room like 401 (I would assume 101, 201, 301 etc) because the bed was against the wall with the elevator behind it. We had to move rooms after the first night, but the staff was great and very accommodating. All the action for this location is across the bridge from the hotel. May 28, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Location; Wish Staff Was Up to Par From the time we made our reservations we asked for an end unit as the last stay we had here was noisy from both rooms adjoining ours. checked in and asked same. our anniversary; quick getaway nearest location on beach. sure thing, no problem. wasnt. convinced friends to join us for day or two. did at just over $300 for room; we were on spg points. both rooms; window shades didnt close all the way. we joked about it in am but wasnt funny really; both were awakened by sun, both slept poorly had to get up monkey with draped and then he used his ironing board to jam against wall and i had to use chair. otherwise room was nice - i sleep poorly - no reason blinds wont close black nowadays in hotels. didnt go back to sleep after and had gone to bed at 1:30am. check in/ out. sort of snippy. tried to joke with check in guy and he was sort of uptight. was offered a free SINGLE $15 drink as being gold member - no you cant have 2 glasses or $6 cocktails only 1 of whatever cost less then $15 after tax and tip. is it a $15 credit? NO. only 1 drink ... or you can have internet if you wish. I was here to relax, didnt need internet. Was our anniversary - can we get 2 cards - NO, SPC wont permit it. sorry. Bar table waitress; just as snippy but nicer. asked on few drinks. able to use card towards credit for 2 drinks? no what about more expensive drink and i pay the diff, NO. ok i'll have a cc&7 and my wife will have wine. shes in rest room. i get my drink and order my wife a wine nearest to price to use card. use this one for the freebie i guess... cant already used it towards your drink. how much was mine. $6.50. why wouldnt you use it towards hers or wait to see. Already used it sorry, cant reverse it.... Seriously, can i get a double at least. no sorry. then she misunderstood and brought me a 2nd drink and i told her i wasnt interested in that as it came with another bill... she finally said dont worry about it as she misunderstood. POINT IS: 1 free drink for a 2 couple anniversary or internet? really. "welcome to our beachfront hotel, here is a voucher for $15 towards bar service, hope you have a great stay, why dont you sit down and unwind / relax with a drink/s". wow, would check in have felt different. same cost to you, less selfish factor from staff and hotel. as for blinds... you need to figure that out. thought ours was just the luck of the draw. when McCarrons / originally Hanlons told me same thing.. made me mad. they paid the $300 to stay there and were also awakened. Rated 2 out of 5 by FRONT DESK STAFF DISAPPOINTED It took WAY too long to prcoess me at checkin. Hotel was unwilling to honor 4 PM checkout request. mysterious rollaway charge appeared on folio. Two different back-to-back stays caused credit card billing issues that should have been easily addressed but were not. Bell stand gave us two completely different and contradictory stories on ground transportation options. March 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Birthdays Stay My wife and I slipped off and spent our birthdays at this wonderful facility! From the staff, food (Rusty's) and grounds, this is our most wonderful escape! This site is newly remodelled. One issue that we have experienced and was missed during teh remodel, the gym on the 9th floor makes resting in rooms on the 8th floor almost impossible from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. The thump of the treadmills and dropping of the weights will give you a headache! Rated 4 out of 5 by Getting Away Great Hotel..."new"upgrades affected my sinuses,eyes and breathing so two days of suffering was put into a "non"renovated room and began to breathe again! This is a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy the beach. The staff both at the front desk and at Rusty's were very nice. Will go again after "ALL" renovations are complete. Rated 5 out of 5 by Boston Couple We enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort. Convenient location, good restaurants and pubs on site, beautiful beach, clean water. Everyone treated us well and made us feel welcome and wanted. Pool and pool area were well maintained. Late check out was no problem. It was a nice relaxing get-away after working most of the week in Miami and visiting Key West. The Clearwater Beach area and this resort is our idea of nice vacation. May 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by A bit disappointing We are a Gold Starwood member and during our family stay, we were put on the 2nd floor with an outdoor balcony overlooking the entrance to the hotel, which was quite noisy at nights for our 1 year old trying to sleep. We were not given any special treatment for holding an Amex Starwood card. And we were even charged for a crib ($5/night). This was extremely disappointing. They barely cleaned our room; towels and trash were left on the balcony through our 5 night stay. For the most part, the room cleaners came in to make the bed, empty the trash and replace towels. The best part of the hotel was that it was beach front. The pool was nice in that it had lots of kids toys but it seemed a little dirty. And the small kid pool was nice. They also provided kid swim diapers, which was a bonus. The morning buffet was delicious. The poolside food was just ok. April 15, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Over Priced, Hawaii would have been less exspensive 7 nights stay here was $ 1,100 more than my stay at a comparable resort in Waikiki. Did not know about the $ 40 per night room tax until I checked out. Sports tournament guests very noisy and up to the wee hours of the morning. Should be on a floor by themselves.The staff however were excellent . Extremely helpful and very nice. April 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by cleaning staff we stayed 5 nights at this hotel, staff is friendly. on the third day the cleaning lady came to clean the room at 10:30am and we asked for another 1/2 hour so we can get our stuff and leave for a day trip. we came back at 9:00 p.m and the room was not done at all!!!! we called customer service for some coffee, cups, sugar etc.... and they brought them to us, did apologize, but no points or credit was offered. that was not perceptible! Generally the folks that work their we're very nice,but the front desk supervisor Jerry Walters was exceptional. Rated 5 out of 5 by Friendly and Helpful Staff This was our first time staying at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort. The hotel is clean and well maintained. All of the hotel staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. They were a great resource on things to do and places to eat in the area. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet in Rusty's each morning. This was a long weekend get a way and our kids really enjoyed the pool. The beach is covered with shells and the gulf was warm. Rated 1 out of 5 by Outdated resort We arrived to very friendly staff and check in was a breeze. Upon entering the room we were dissapointed at the small cramped feel. The room was not what we expected. Empty water bottles on the floor. No wi fi. A charge of $10. a day....I paid near $250 per night. They refused to offer me wi fi in my room. Beach acess was totally flooded due to heavy rain the days prior to our arrival. Loud pumps were running 24 hours to remove the standing water. I had fruit juice in my room that needed to be refridgerated. Not available. I asked a staff member for a cooler. They told me it was not available. The staff member advised me to just tell the front desk that I need to refridgerate medication and a cooler would be available. I poured the juice out rather than lie. Not a very enjoyable stay. We will not be back at this location nor will I recommend it to anyone. September 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful Hotel! I loved just about everything at this hotel. The only criticism I have is that the walls are a little thin. I could hear the person next to me every time he coughed. Everything else was great. The staff were polite and attentive. The food was very good. The room was very clean. The pool area was nice as well as the beach area. It was also close to area attractions. There are some great restaurants in Clearwater! January 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hotel stay was very nice Our rooms were very clean and very spacious. We had 3 rooms. 2 were together on one floor and and we had a room on another floor which was fine. I have been coming to the resort for years and the only thing I didn't like was the new pool design. It looks pretty, but it is too small for the amount of people staying at the resort. We couldn't even find pool chairs so we had to sit at the cafe. Other than that we had a great visit. August 14, 2013
