My wife and I stayed at the hotel on the 2nd and 3rd of January 2013. We checked in during a mind numbing renovation of the hallway outside the bar. As a hotel veteran of over 30 years I thought the staff of the hotel handled the difficult situation perfectly. We enjoyed all of our interaction with the staff of your hotel and would absolutely stay there again.
I liked the renovation.

This resort was simply the best! We had a wonderful time. We used room service for breakfast and a late dinner and the food and service was great. The room was unbelievable, and the grounds, pool, and resort as a whole, was to die for! We will try to make it a annual trip and would recommend it to everyone! Thanks to the staff, we had a great stay and a very happy 30th anniversary!!!

Someone has to have the back-of-the-house view. For me, view wan't as important as a quiet room - specifically I requested a room near the end of a hall (less traffic), away from ice machine, elevators, and housekeeping closet. Unfortunately, my room was next to the housekeeping closet where the roll-away beds were stored and the service elevator is located. So much for a quiet room!

Upsides: The spot is secluded, tucked away on Sand Key that attracts relatively well-off crowd, and removed from the hustle and bustle of even a couple of miles up on Gulf Dr. The view from my standard SPG room was fantastic, with the expanse of the white sands. Children's play area and the beach were easily accessible. The view from the fitness center on 9th floor was great.
1. Start with the guy at the front entrance. A complete monkey. He signals you to stop, then doesn't ask any questions. Waits for you to say - Oh I have a reservation (I am not really trespassing). This snobbery extends to some folks at the front desk too - curt. Only extended to 12 pm when asked for a late checkout.
2. The room service menu was not updated. Several prices on breakfast items were rung up higher than those on the menu; however the kitchen manager was courteous enough to call herself and adjust the prices.

From the friendliest check-in with Janet to the wonderful wait staff at Rusty's by Roberta and the Mainstay Grill with Ken, you will unwind with the friendliest support ever. The Jolly Trolley stops right at the hotel - plenty to do or just stay by the beautiful pool and beach. At the end of the day the most comfortable mattress and pillows await you. I look forward to returning.

The room, the staff, the breakfast buffet and the free fitness room made our stay quite lovely. The only disappointment was the swimming pool. It is much smaller than the picture portrays online. After 12:00pm, it is impossible to swim. It is best to use the pool at the morning and then proceed to the beach. The beach is beautiful and only a 2 minutes walk away. We also loved the location of the hotel. Sand Key is more quiet than Clearwater beach which enabled us to really relax and experience some privacy on the beach. The Clearwater beach is very crowded.
There is a trolley that stops by the hotel and for $2.00 per person or $5.00 a day, one can go to Clearwater beach and enjoy the town. The ride is quick and beautiful and prevent parking stress. Across the street from the hotel, one can rent small boat, kayak, etc... for a reasonable fee.
We would choose again this hotel for our next stay in Clearwater.

We were at this hotel from June 29 - July 5, 2014. We had an amazing time. The staff was great. Attentive and nice. The room and bathroom were smaller than I expected however it was fine since we were hardly in the room. The beach was not crowded; away from the hustle and bustle of Clearwater Beach. The pool was a lot of fun - a nice reprieve when staying at the beach go too hot. The volleyball courts were convenient and added an activity to an already busy schedule. The breakfast buffet was great and you had the choice of ordering from a menu if you were getting tired of the buffet. My favorite part was the gym. The view from the hotel was excellent and motivated my run (it was too hot to run outside). There were lockers with a shower and had all the machines that a regular gym would have. There were about 6 treadmills, a few elliptical machines, and stationary bikes in addition to weight machines.
The only thing I didn't like was that the pool was too small for the amount of pool that were there. I didn't realize that people weren't all staying at the hotel and the pool was open to the public. There was a gate from the neighboring property that people were coming through.
Also this was great for my family. I would not stay here though if I were single.

We stay at this hotel every year and enjoy it every time. This year we were thrilled to see the changes made to the front desk and sports bar. Much more user friendly. We enjoy time by the pool, though there were limited spots and had to sit in the grassy area. Also love dining at Rusty's! Staff is pleasant and accomodating! Food is delicious as well.
We'll be back next year!

Staff was yelling down hallways to one another even though there were Quiet Cards on door handles. Staff also were criticizing other staff in public. Totally unprofessional and should not be tolerated.

Rated 2 out of 5 by WRONG FRONT DESK STAFF DISAPPOINTED
It took WAY too long to prcoess me at checkin. Hotel was unwilling to honor 4 PM checkout request. mysterious rollaway charge appeared on folio. Two different back-to-back stays caused credit card billing issues that should have been easily addressed but were not. Bell stand gave us two completely different and contradictory stories on ground transportation options.

The staff at the Sand Key Sheraton are amazing. Everyone I encountered during my stay were very helpful and always had a smile for me. if you are looking for a relaxing place to bring the entire family, this is it. Very kid friendly with easy access to local nightlife. i suggest that you do not miss the prime rib in Rustys located inside the resort. Top notch food and service.

We booked a club room and paid over 350 for each night.
The room was tired and no more than three star at best. Bathrooms very small and tubs old.
The club room was like a waiting room at an airport and not comfortable.
Food and staff very good...not their fault about the value for money.
Ocean view lovely but not worth the $

This is not a hotel worthy of a second stay. To start with the bathrooms had mold on the ceiling, no mini fridge and wi-fi is available at $9.95 a day. This I found to be amazing as the cheapest hotels offer free wi-fi. The pool is very small. The food in the bar and grill is terrible!!! The beach is very close (5 min) walk...other than that nothing at this hotel says resort.

The location is fabulous but this hotel needs updating. The carpets are worn and dingy, the bathrooms are tiny, the paint is peeling in places. The gym is only open until 9pm on weekdays - this needs to be made a 24/7 facility. THe gym is excellent, but closed too much of the time. Pool is tiny. Location is great - long runs on the beach very excellent, beach not too crowded.

What a wonderful place to just sit and relax! The service was excellent; the grounds were beautifully landscaped and immaculate. The hustle and bustle of Tampa/St. Petersburg seems a million miles away while relaxing on this white sand and surprisingly uncrowded beach. The only reason I would hesitate to recommend this place is to try and keep it a secret! What a find!!!!!!

We had a great experience your property is to be commended on a job well done!!! However, my only concern being from a Resort Property as well, was that the waitstaff in the restaurant were having very open procedural conversations on the floor as well as, one of them was also eating on the floor. It didn't change my expierence, it was excellent, but was unprofessional! :)

I have been to this property quite a few times. Each time the service and food is excellent. Great location, great pool, great tiki bar. Love it all. Staff is awesome. Nelson and Bubby at Tiki Bar, George at Mainstay are great. Jaime Sheets is so great to work with as well.

We have stayed at this hotel 16 times and it just gets better each time, our last stay 15 nights in September 2013 was perfect from check in until you leave have stayed in other hotels in the US on holiday not one could match the Sheraton Sand Key. Looking Forward to our next holiday at this wonderful hotel. A big thank you to all the staff for making it the perfect stay.

With the exception of a noisy person (yelled when talking at 2 a.m. and slammed doors) who stayed in the room next to us ( came in each night after 1 a.m.), the stay was great! Not much the hotel can do about rude guests? The staff were tremendous!
You can take towels on the beach and they provide light food and bar service all day. A huge plus!

The hotel does not modify its restaurant hours to accommodate a specific event.
e.g. Jazz Festival - runs late, needs food to be available later than 9.00 on Fri & Sat and 5.00 on Sun. The "Corner" café is insufficient for number of people & Rusty's is expensive and whole meal oriented.
Did not try room service which I presume is available. Jazz nuts like to snack late!

We absolutely loved our stay with you. Everyone was so nice and friendly. We especially loved the poolside cafe and tiki bar. Also Debbie who served us drinks on the beach was amazing and remembered our names every time she saw us. We will be back!!

My stay at this hotel was excellent. I can think of no changes that would have made my stay any better. I slept well, enjoying the great environment in the room. Linens were very comfortable. Cleaning crew did a great job. It seemed like there were always service staff in the hallways and elevators, just looking for ways to please. Staff was happy and always pleasant.

If you're looking for the perfect Clearwater location this is it. Unfortunately it's a very popular hotel and is typically very crowded. Also the management seems to have little interest in taking care of Gold/Platinum level guests. Club level and suite upgrades are extremely rare. Even when available I was told I would have to pay more which is rather disappointing.

right from the beginning, Steve took care of our luggage and car and was a gem. Roberta and Linda in Rusty's restaurant were a delight to talk to and be served by. The brightness and airiness of the restaurant - as compared to our stay 20 years ago - we feel helps morale. Management of course has a lot to do with this also. Hope to be able to return next year. hd/rd

As a Platinum member, I've stayed at many Starwood properties around the country. I have stayed at this property many times over the years. I love the location and facilities. That being said, I continue to be extremely disappointed in the customer service. I'm happy to discuss specific areas of opportunity for improvement with the General Manager.

Best location when visiting Clearwater Beach. Hotel was clean, friendly staff, and had a nice facility. The beach access was perfect and the staff was continually cleaning and making sure the grounds were up to the highest standards.

There was not one department that did not exceed our expectations, from check in, room service, hotel bar, pool bar, store, pool help, maid service etc. I don't want to leave anyone out since every step we took they treated us outstanding. If they could do it they did. Thanks so much Sheraton! I usually don't do this, but I will go out to facebook and LIKE them!
