Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellenct Location/Convienent The Sand Key has it all. Easy Gulf Beach access. Quick trips to golf courses and fine dinning. Friendly staff, great pool facilities, good pool sice smoothie bar and a black snake that visits every now and then. Just a fun place to rest, relax and enjoy. May 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extras One thinkg I missed was a refrigerator in the room. Activities by the pool would enhance the experience or maybe a bonefire for smores at the beach at night. August 5, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great service and facility As a business owner, I truly appreciate good customer service. The staff at this facility was great to me an my family and the facility was super nice too! March 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Service This hotel offers everything you need for a great beach vacation. Beach cabana rentals are reasonably priced and there are both casual and nicer dining options available. I would highly recommend the breakfast buffet at Rusty's! There was so much to do on premise that my boyfriend and I rarely left. We played tennis, ate great meals, watched a basketball game at the bar, enjoyed room service and relaxed by the pool/beach. There is even live music and dancing! The fitness center is top-notch with great views overlooking the ocean. I cannot say enough about how pleasant the staff are. I was blown away by how courteous and helpful everyone was. May 25, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Life Long Resort My wife & I have been staying at this resort almost from the time it was built. We found it so nice & accommodating that we have kept returning over the years for our Florida break in May. May 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Had to call for security This was a one night stay and thank goodness for that. Checked in and found the room had a balcony overlooking the tennis courts. It was in the corner and the L shaped configuration provided NO privacy on the balcony whatsoever. We could reach out and touch the person sitting on the next balcony. The room was right next to the elevator so when we tried to get to sleep we could hear people gathering there and it was keeping us awake. I put a towel under the door to keep the noise out but it didn't help much. The people in the room next to us were having a very loud party, it was unbelievable how rude they were. I gave them a full hour but couldn't take it anymore and called the desk to complain. They said they would send security. The noise stopped shortly after my call but we had a long day ahead of us and were exhausted from lack of sleep. The TV didn't work right either, kept going black for no reason. In the AM when checking out we brought the problems to their attention and the woman apologized for the inconvenience and even offered us breakfast but we just wanted to leave. We hoped to be happier with this hotel but I don't think we'll be returning. May 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Love Rusty's and our server on our first night at the hotel Sunday evening! Fantastic dinner! It was so nice to have a place to sit down and have a wonderful dinner and fine dining experience plus delicious food. December 16, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pool is awesome! The hotel was excellent over all! The only bad thing I saw was the tiny bathrooms. June 25, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel was Ok My expectations for a Sheraton are high and were definitely not met during my stay in the Sheraton Sand Key Resort. The overall appearance of the hotel was nice however, the room was very small and smelled really bad. The bathroom part was extremely tight/small and there were no refrigerators in the room. For a resort, there was nothing included in the price you pay for a night so in reality although the price may be reasonable you are paying for every little thing!!! i would go to a better hotel next time-- if you are going to spend money, might as well spend it where you have a better room , more space and there are things included like a beach chair or even breakfast or shuttle service. I was mislead by the associate i booked with - i was told there was shuttle service to and from the airport and there wasn't ( that is the only reason why i picked this hotel) so that was not a good start - then there was a private beach which was nice but you have to pay an astronomical amount for a beach chair?!?! i could go into town and buy one cheaper! If you own the beach property it would be a nice incentive to give chairs to your guests. They have to pay for drinks and food anyway which is where you can get money from! June 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great stay Excellent customer service. beautiful pool and great burgers. January 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel This hotel was a lifesaver. After having reservations at another property that did not meet my standards after checking in, the Sheraton had a couple of rooms available. I will never again stay at another property when visiting this area. This was my first time, but not my last. Loved the breakfast buffet, the pool, pool bar, proximity to the beach, etc. Everything on the beach (chairs, umbrellas, waverunners, etc.) can be charged to your room. What a great convenience. Only downside was that child had an accident in the pool on a Friday afternoon and the pool was closed the remainder of the day, but the staff was great in handling the incident. May 13, 2013

Rated 1 out of 5 by Most unaccommodating hotel I've ever stayed at. How this hotel has stayed in business is beyond me. It is the worst hotel I've ever been in. From not having my room ready until I twisted there arm to get me a room by 4:30 pm an hour when they had guaranteed my room by 3 pm. To their ineffectiveness at getting my room clean (I found potato chips under my bed). To the turtle pace of their wi-fi internet (took me 2 hours to print out a document I needed for my conference). To their silver light (the machine that makes your room key) stopped working. To their lack of accommodating me for their actions. It was horrible!! The only silver lining was the fact that I only had to stay one night. July 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Terrific as Always! This hotel and its staff are the best working vacation we have each year. The facility is consistently well-maintained, regularly up-graded and features small surprises around each corner each year - this year an upgraded fitness room at the top of the hotel. There is an unusually large staff, friendly and approachable - invisible when you don't need them and instantly present when you do. Everyone from the first greeting by the bellman, through the front desk, custodial staff and various facility operators are just a joy to see. Long-time management like Les Agres insure that every visit is better than the last. First rate in every way!! February 10, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by did not sleep a wink AC was very noisy coming on and off every 30 minutes. Rattled when it was on very loud. Both my wife and I did not sleep more than 1 hr in a row from 11 pm to 6 am May 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice hotel-great location We stayed here for 3 nights with our two small children and it was great! Huge beach, nice pool, wonderful location. Good dining options on site, lots of parking, nice views--we would definitely stay here again. Very relaxing. May 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Work/family week This is my fourth year at this hotel for a work conference. This year my family joined me and we stayed 3 extra days, to make it a full week. I always knew this resort met my work needs for travel. However, bringing my family here was a wonderful experience. The staff were AMAZING! My kids loved Grant, the pool attendant, who also holds children's activities and games at the pool. He knew all of the kids by name and was excellent with them. Dave, another pool attendant went above and beyond. His knowledge of the area, the daily weather, etc was always helpful, as well as his positive personality. We had club level and our other favorite staff member was Peggy, the club level attendant. She was so nice and courteous and made sure our every need was taken care of. She even gave my youngest daughter a big container to bring her sea shells home in. I also have to mention Jerry, one of the front desk manager, who is always friendly and helpful when I have stayed here. This resort is removed from the hustle/bustle of Clearwater public beach which is one of the reasons we enjoyed it. We were in our own little world, with a great pool, private beach, and every sport available to us on the beach. They even had boogie boards for the kids to use! By far the customer servie and family friendly atmosphere is what blew me away. This is definitely a property we will come back to and recommend to other families! March 27, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Front desk staff needs improvement When I tried checking in, the supervisor and trainee upfront could not find my reservation. I showed them my confirmation but instead of being apologetic, the supervisor was demeaning and acted irritated at me rather than the situation. She made me feel like I had something to do with the reservation being lost. What made matters worse, was that another person came up to the front desk for help, and rather than trying to finish what she started, she dumped me on the trainee. And I would have assumed that maybe she was having a bad day and that was why her attitude was sour with me, but when she interacted with the other guest, she smiled and her demeanor changed. And when I asked her if I could speak to the manager she told me she was the only one in charge. After waiting one hour and helping myself to a seat, the guest supervisor appeared for other reasons, and I jumped at the opportunity to talk to someone above and told her the situation. Ten minutes later my room was booked. To be honest my whole stay was ruined by one person, Jeane. And a part of me feels as though her behavior towards me was based on the fact that I am from an ethnic background. She never apologized for the way she acted with me or the fact that I had to wait such a long time. I stayed for four days and I cringed every time I walked past her at the front desk counter. One of the worst services I have ever had at a Starwood hotel, and I am a big fan. December 29, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Facility The Sheraton Sand Key is by-far the best all-around hotel that I have ever stayed at, both internationally and domestically. The hotel staff, from the GM (Russ), to the front desk staff (we really liked Jerry) all the way down to the cleaning, maintenance and pool staff is exceptional! My wife and I were treated as if we were royalty or owners of the hotel. EVERYONE went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay and that we had everything we needed. I look forward to our next visit as well as our conference which will be there in 2014 and 2015. I am working to get us locked in for even more years. We love the Sheraton Sand Key. September 1, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Location; Wish Staff Was Up to Par From the time we made our reservations we asked for an end unit as the last stay we had here was noisy from both rooms adjoining ours. checked in and asked same. our anniversary; quick getaway nearest location on beach. sure thing, no problem. wasnt. convinced friends to join us for day or two. did at just over $300 for room; we were on spg points. both rooms; window shades didnt close all the way. we joked about it in am but wasnt funny really; both were awakened by sun, both slept poorly had to get up monkey with draped and then he used his ironing board to jam against wall and i had to use chair. otherwise room was nice - i sleep poorly - no reason blinds wont close black nowadays in hotels. didnt go back to sleep after and had gone to bed at 1:30am. check in/ out. sort of snippy. tried to joke with check in guy and he was sort of uptight. was offered a free SINGLE $15 drink as being gold member - no you cant have 2 glasses or $6 cocktails only 1 of whatever cost less then $15 after tax and tip. is it a $15 credit? NO. only 1 drink ... or you can have internet if you wish. I was here to relax, didnt need internet. Was our anniversary - can we get 2 cards - NO, SPC wont permit it. sorry. Bar table waitress; just as snippy but nicer. asked on few drinks. able to use card towards credit for 2 drinks? no what about more expensive drink and i pay the diff, NO. ok i'll have a cc&7 and my wife will have wine. shes in rest room. i get my drink and order my wife a wine nearest to price to use card. use this one for the freebie i guess... cant already used it towards your drink. how much was mine. $6.50. why wouldnt you use it towards hers or wait to see. Already used it sorry, cant reverse it.... Seriously, can i get a double at least. no sorry. then she misunderstood and brought me a 2nd drink and i told her i wasnt interested in that as it came with another bill... she finally said dont worry about it as she misunderstood. POINT IS: 1 free drink for a 2 couple anniversary or internet? really. "welcome to our beachfront hotel, here is a voucher for $15 towards bar service, hope you have a great stay, why dont you sit down and unwind / relax with a drink/s". wow, would check in have felt different. same cost to you, less selfish factor from staff and hotel. as for blinds... you need to figure that out. thought ours was just the luck of the draw. when McCarrons / originally Hanlons told me same thing.. made me mad. they paid the $300 to stay there and were also awakened. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel We recently stayed at this hotel after Christmas through New Year, 4 nights. Overall we loved our stay and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Here are some of our Pros and Cons. The Pros: New carpet in the room was awesome; clean room and comfortable bed; friendly staff (Bob the bellmen was awesome, and Bobby at the outside bar makes the best Bloody Mary); Free parking; fair price on food at the outside grill and bar, as well as the mainstay tavern; 4 elevators that were fast so no waiting; great convenience store; front row seat from our balcony to watch the fireworks show on NYE that were set off on the beach. The Cons: No microwave or frige in room (this is such a nice perk, especially at the beach); no iPod docking station (not the end of the world but come on, it's 2013); no waitress service at the pool (again, not the end of the world but they could really capitalize on this); no free internet in the room (separate from the Starwood option at check-in. They have it at other Sheratons as standard, not sure why it wasn't here); the in-room movie prices were hilarious ($18 for a movie that's not even a new release, come on); you have to rent beach chairs and cabanas (you can use the pool chairs for free but can't take them on the sand. You have to bring your own or rent for $25/day). Overall there is not a lot of consistency at Sheratons but they're still great hotels and this is a great program to be a part of! Like I said in the beginning, we would deff stay here again. January 3, 2013
