Rated 5 out of 5 by FrickandFrack Hotel was perfect !
The Hotel met all our expectations and was perfect. Had a room overlooking the pool and beach with a fantastic view. Room was quiet, clean, very well furnished as you would expect from a Sheraton. This was our first stay at this location and will be making this a yearly stop on our way through Sand Key. Tip; try eatting across the street at Maggie Mae's Cafe, for breakfast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nancy58 Always a Great Stay
I'm looking forward to my stay in June. This will be the 8th or 9th time I stayed at this hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the restaurants are great and the beach is magnificent but the best thing about this hotel is it's staff. They are outstanding. They are always warm and welcoming and will do what ever to make your stay more enjoyable. In the past I have worked with the sales and conference staff and they always went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. This is just an outstanding hotel and we just keep coming back year after year. The location is wonderful as well. A beautiful beach, a quieter surronding, close to shopping and great restaurants. Just a great place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dandrea Wonderful hotel, would recommend!
Only complaint I can offer for this hotel was the pool size, the pictures make it look much larger than it actually is. The pool seemed to be over filled with guests, Granted, we did stay at a very busy time. Rusty's Bistro was AMAZING! We didn't opt for any of the buffets ( which looked very tempting) yet stuck with menu items, and were more than pleased!! Martin was an amazing server and took very good care of us. All hotel staff was very helpful although the bar near the pool seemed as if their staff was on it's own time and even though they were not busy would stand around before even acknowledging you were there. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be returning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NewFanofSheratonSandKey Friendly Staff Enhances Visit
Everyone I met at the hotel was extremely friendly and accommodating, and that means a lot to me. I stayed at this resort while our home was under renovation and would arrive at the end of the day extremely tired. This resort was a great choice. Clean, comfortable, great views of the Gulf of Mexico, room service until 11 PM, and spacious guest rooms. The pool is heated and it was great to unwind with a swim at the end of each day. More importantly, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The only negative is the prices for on-demand movies seems too high and there is an extra charge for internet access which seems higher than the norm. Yet, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.

The room was very small; there was no "coffee shop" where we could just get coffee and a snack; they would not accommodate a late checkout; the food choices in the only restaurant were very limited - lots of seafood and very little else (I'm allergic to seafood) - and the price range was all very high; the chicken piccatta (which I had and which was delicious) was only offered on a price fixe menu, and I didn't want all tha other stuff; the beach was way too far away; they charged to sit in a chair at the beach; there were no extra blankets in the room and not enough on the bed

Rated 4 out of 5 by LadyJR Restaurants
The hotel does not modify its restaurant hours to accommodate a specific event.
e.g. Jazz Festival - runs late, needs food to be available later than 9.00 on Fri & Sat and 5.00 on Sun. The "Corner" café is insufficient for number of people & Rusty's is expensive and whole meal oriented.
Did not try room service which I presume is available. Jazz nuts like to snack late!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JJ60 Love this hotel!
We are frequent visitors to the Sheraton Sand Key. The staff is excellent and always willing to help. Rooms very clean. Just a couple of comments:
We often eat in the Rusty's for breakfast. Don't understand why there isn't a chef making fresh eggs and omelets. We certainly would eat there much more often.
Mattresses on beds could be a bit more comfortable.
Would love a lap pool, but understand the expense involved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Crystal12 LONG WALK TO ACTUAL BEACH
Although the staff and overall experience within this hotel was wonderful, we were not pleased to have to drag our cooler and beach gear the equivalent of a long city block with NO wooden walkway provided the distance to the actual beach. Once on the beach, it is inconvenient to be so far from the hotel... Food, drinks and bathrooms are a hot hike away. Certainly not pleasant for adults but very annoying if you have little ones I would imagine. No beach chairs or umbrellas provided by the hotel. The "on beach" location was why we booked it. We won't return to this location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scrappyviolett We had a wonderful time!
Check in went smooth, we arrived a little earlier than check in time and spent a few minutes in the buisness center ( love the large computer monitors) and played a game or 2 of pool in the lounge. Hotel was very clean. Staff was friendly and the beach was uncrowded and beautiful. My only disappointments were our room was a little on the small size for a family of 4 but I didn't mind too much because it was very clean. Also, I expected a small refrigerator because I had read online that the rooms came with one but our room did not have one. Being a local resident, we arrived with coolers and made do with filling them with ice so it was not a big deal for us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by TampaExporteeForaNight rooms' bathrooms smallest i have seen and walls paper thin, but the resort was very nice
i am mixed on this "resort" as it cost 10k starpoints to stay and i wouldnt do it again. not to the starwood standards in most room ways. the facility was very nice, but the room had the sink area outside the restroom as there was hardly even room to open the door as the toilet was righ there and 8" to the right was the tub/ shower. it was hard to even change or go in with my child to get into the tub. in the am, the dad and mom next door were waking their kids in normal voices, we heard everything! beds not "heavenly" like normal... ok at best. Grant at pool exceptional.

Rated 3 out of 5 by remoresful Hotel and staff leave alot to be desired
Room is designed for sleeping only! Not a comfortable chair to be found in any room. Bathroom setup is also very unfriendly, not one woman that attended the conference was happy with the Bathroom setup / functionality. Staff on check in did not recognize me as a starwood member and ignored my member profile to the point I had to involve management to correct the situation. Staff's only response was to try to "upsell me to a higher priced room". Why should I pay 40 dollars a day to correct the fact that staff mis-handled my reservation? Very dissapointing experience. Coffe maker in room was replaced twice and still leaked. As a member of the hotel selection committee I will be voting to never return to this facility.

Rated 1 out of 5 by elchino I Work for Disney Travel Company
I Work in the area of Disney reservations center for 10 years and this past Tuesday and Wednesday I stay at his hotel under a promotion that got to be Disney employees. One of the main reasons of my stay was to know better this property. Since it is the hotel that I recommend to people who come to Disney and want to also go to the area of clear water.
Well, unfortunately there are some details that are making me hesitate to send my guests to you guys. let me give you the things I found:
1. - The person checking me never told me I had a view of the parking lot. I have no problem with that except that I would want to know before the fact.
2. - In the room my sleep was interrupted by an employee who was cutting the grass with a machine so loud that I woke up.
3.-The change of temperature from super hot water to cold and cold to hot again. All this when I was taking a shower. This means they you have to fix its water systems whether for this room only wich is the 223 or for all rooms.
Please check this and let me know so I can get started again in recommending your hotel again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by KellyJ Good, but not the best
Overall, I thought this property was not as great as some as the Starwood resorts I've stayed at in the past. The pool is incredibly small for the size of the property; you are literally on top of other guests. The pool REALLY needs to be expanded. The beach is huge, but it's quite a walk to get back to the hotel for any reason (but it looks pretty). The menu at the pool grill could also be expanded; very little to choose from if you don't want lunch meat sandwiches, pizza or nachos. The rooms felt cramped, and there is very little counter space in the bathroom area (one small room has toilet, tub/shower, and there is a sink area with one small countertop outside of the bathroom). The staff members, however, were quite nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ebizeboy Excellent Hotel to Celebrate
My wife and I stayed to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Although I had read some reviews about the remote location and the distance to the beach, I now find those reviewers overly critical. Yes, the hotel is out on Sand Key so if you're looking to be in or near the city, it is not. And yes, the beach is probably 150 yards from the outdoor pool, it's a nice walk. The only slightly unfavorable comment is that the beds were not firm enough. They are not overly soft, but with both of us having back problems, the bed just did not support us the way we require.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kelly72 Barely average for a resort hotel
We stayed here over a weekend for 4 nights and can basically say that it was a roof over our heads. As a platinum member of SPG, I was not upgraded. The bed in the room was very uncomfortable, and room ammenities were sparse. Our view consisted of a 2nd floor room of the tennis courts.
The pool is very small for a hotel this size. We had no kids with us, but it looked like they had fun with some of the activities the staff were organizing at the pool. If you want to head down to the beach, be prepared to pay $25 if you want to rent an umbrella and chairs.
Two bright points...the staff were very friendly for the most part, and they have a beautiful fitness center.
Overall, I don't believe I would go back to this resort.

Rated 2 out of 5 by customer55 not worth it
The rooms are old and very small. The category starwood rates this property is way off. It is on the beach but that is the only positive it has going for it. The choice of food at the pool is not up to today’s standards. I had a turkey and swiss and it was low quality for the price. They unwrapped it from plastic and stuck it in a box. There is no chair service at the pool and the menu needs work. Most of the staff was friendly but they need to invest some money back into the property or drop the ratting of this property. Its not worth the 10,000 points a night.

Unfriendly staff, had an unpleasant experience with a lady at the front desk - definitely not something I expected being an SPG preferred member.

The hotel and definitely the staff provided the best of accommodations. Every person we interacted with smiled and was pleasant and made us feel like they were honored to be able to assist us. What a great atmosphere and a wonderful experience. I can hardly wait for the next opportunity to stay with you and your staff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Barbara1955 Great experience
I want to recognize your staff, especially Jim at check in. He was very attentive to our needs and made sure that we had a room to change and shower because we had a later flight and they couldn't let us keep our room. All members of your staff were wonderful and made us feel welcome. We will return to your hotel when we return to Clearwater. We return often to Clearwater so we will be a guest again.
Thank you for your attentive staff and a wonderful stay.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Grouper57 Dissapointing stay
I am a Travel Agent and identified myself as such on check-in. I paid extra for the Club Level room. I was placed in room by housekeeping, so was awakend early each morning by banging, loud talking, and doors slamming. Additionally, there was a group of young adults in several of the rooms near me. They stayed in the hall talking and laughing until late at night.
The bed was very hard and the pillows were too soft. The food in the Club room was not worth the extra cost of the room, unless you really like to drink from the free bar. The only value was that they did not charge for the WI-FI which is free at most hotels.
Overall, I was very disappointed with this hotel and will not return. They do not live up to the Sheraton reputation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dappy Clean rooms
i was pleased with the room cleanliness. I was concerned about bedbugs, but I didn't see any nor did I get bit.
My only complaint was with the smell in the large conference room where we had our training session. It smelled of stale smoke possibly from a time when smoking was allowed in that room. Also, although, it wasn't necessarily your problem, not all of us had time to eat in one of your dining facilities because we all went to lunch at the same time and when my friend and I get there, all seats were taken. We had to get a salad from the snack bar/gift shop. But, it was a very good salad and fresh. I enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and my walk to the beach. Probably my one and only time I'll have a day at a resort. it was a nice one!!

We have stated at the Sand Key many times. We return because of the location, the great personal service, and the low key atmosphere. Just what we are looking for to kick back and relax. We stayed on a SPG floor for the first time, and were pleasantly surprised by what that included. Very nice free spread for breakfast and early evening. The only downside was that I thought the carpeting in our room could have used an update. And I really can't understand why every room does not have a refridgerator. Too many times up and down the hall to get ice!

After sharing my family's experience at this Sand Key Sheraton, this particular hotel did not measure up to the standards that we are accustomed to when staying at a Starwood Resort. There was no concierge services, poor service at reception desk in checking in, took very long, no Starwood privileges extended, the rooms' views were a brick wall, and very poor service when my son tried to charge food to his room card which would be accepted sometimes and not others... The staff was friendly, but just was not a typical Starwood service Hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rssam Great stay... Having to pay for wireless a downer
My wife nd I enjoyed our stay and found the acommendations very good as indicated by the favorable rating schedule. We we disappointed in being charged $10/day for wifi in our room. The business center in my estimation does not match the comfort of using your computer in your own room and not being gouged an extra $10 fee. The business center is an antiquated disease ridden (the reason why you have hand sanitizer around the room) facility. Becuse of this I will be looking for an alternative location next February unless your policy changes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mikey77 Great Property, Wonderful, Helpful Staff
Just stayed June 12-15, last time here was 2010, and had a wonderful, relaxiing time. And the staff was fantastic: friendly, helpful, acted as if they were happy we were there, and that they were happy to be there, too. Not what you find often in the hospitality business these days. It was refreshing and made the stay quite enjoyable. Property is kept up very nicely, clean and fresh, and the pool along with easy access to the beach is another great selling point. A special shout-out to Grant, Curtis, Dave and Steve for their extra efforts!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Simba Great staff but hotel needs some renovation
I enjoyed the staff at this hotel. All were most pleasent, cooperative and helpful. As a gold member I was made to feel most welcome by the friendly front desk staff, concierge etc. The hotel has many facilities includings restaurants and bars. However the pool is tiny and can not accomodate many guests. My room on the 7th floor was very clean and had a great new TV. The room bathroom needs to be enlarged and modernized. It is too small for anyone. Another suggestion I have is for the hotel to operate some beach buggies to transport guests to the beach and water. I am a daily walker, but I would not use the beach as the walk is much too long in the hot summer sun. it would be also helpful for the hotel to have a shuttle service to nearby places.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LadyG1115 It is a "must" return each trip to FL!
We found the hotel to be superb from the Club Floor to the reception personnel, beaches/pools and outside landscape; however, the "best" is the employees we have met each time we stay there. They make it special, to say the least! This particular hotel we return to each time in Florida because we loved it so much. We usually visit twice a year and we would recommend it to anyone. Experience it for yourself!

Rated 3 out of 5 by BusinessNeedsIgnored Loud Guests on a Beach Vacation
Attended a business conference - the hotel's support of the meeting and events was solid. Nice beach hotels for that casual experience. However, the hotel made no effort to control the noise level of its guests, including kids running up & down the corridors, banging on doors and generally disturbing the other rooms on the floors. Even the cleaning crew was yelling loudly in the halls. No effort to move us. Unlikely event will return next year.
