When guests walk into this museum, they won't encounter an art gallery of dark, windowless rooms. Instead, after guests are greeted by a volunteer at the front of the gift shop, they will walk down a flight of stairs into an open room filled with the works of living artists. The Museum of the Living Artist, presented by the San Diego Art Institute, showcases the works of emerging San Diego visual artists chosen by a cast of jurors at thirty shows a year. The Museum of the Living Artist hosts various professional artists' lectures; the San Diego art Institute hosts various classes for every level of artist from beginning to experienced. - Erick Pettersen
