This tiny Japanese establishment is popular with the college crowd for its tasty tempura platters and rice bowls, as well as for its quick service and low prices. The small café atmosphere at Sono Express is nothing fancy, but that seems fine with the clientèle. Combination plates are always a popular option, as are the eight-piece California rolls. The dinner menu includes salmon, beef, halibut tempura or chicken, each served with batter-fried vegetables, soup and salad and white rice.
