The capital of Thailand, Bangkok is known by Thais as Krung Thep, or "city of angels". Its location at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River made it a political, social, and economic center even before it was established in the late 1700s. Continually growing, Bangkok began to draw multinational corporations at the end of the twentieth century while still retaining much of its cultural lore. Hundreds of Buddhist temples dot the cityscape along with the humming marketplaces and a rich array of nightlife options.
Directly on the Chao Phraya River ("River of Kings"), The Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers is conveniently located just minutes away from Bangkok's primary business districts (Silom and Sathorn). The Queen Sirikit National Conventional Center, boasting a theater-style Plenary Hall to house up to 6,000 people, is only three miles away.
We are also within close proximity to numerous entertainment areas and shopping arcades, including Bangkok's Chinatown, a popular tourist stop and food-lover's paradise in the evening; the eight-story MBK Center, with over 2,000 shops and services; and Siam Paragon, one of the largest shopping centers in Asia. Famous historic sites like the Grand Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the Temple of Dawn are just a short boat ride away.
