Known as the “Hawaii of the East,” Hainan Island is located just off the southern coast of China in the South China Sea. As China’s premier resort destination, it offers everything from palm-fringed, white-sand beaches and clear waters to gentle winds, mountains, and an abundance of sunshine. Overlooking the sparkling Tufu Bay, along the Southeast coast of the island in Lingshui County, is the Sheraton Sanya Tufu Bay Resort. A tourism district, a cultural village, a sports and recreation area, a marina and yacht club, and retail shopping are just steps away. Furthermore, we are only an hour’s drive from Sanya Phoenix International Airport (SYX).
Swim in the sea, collect shells, soak up the sunshine, enjoy a water sport, or join in a game of beach volleyball. Play a round of golf on one of the numerous and highly-esteemed golf courses sprinkled throughout the island. Or relax and take a hot therapeutic soak in one of the nearby hot springs—Nanping, Gaofeng, or Hongxie. For a glimpse at local culture, view the nearby Soviet Government Building, the Farmers’ Committee, the Nanbatian Farm, the Dragon King Temple, and the Sanwei Temple. Or take a stroll along a street showcasing a Qing Dynasty theme.
Lingshui is home to several wonderful scenic spots featuring rainforests, waterfalls, mountains, lakes, and more. Besides Tufu Bay, notable nature areas include Yezi Island, Xiangshui Bay, Nanwan Monkey Island, Diaoluo Mountain, and Xiaomei Lake. Take an excursion to the center of the island for an invigorating trek on Hainan’s highest mountain, Wuzhi, which means Five Finger Mountain. More adventurous travelers can take a river-raft ride down the rapids along the 163-kilometer-long Wanquan River. After a day of activities, gather with others and enjoy a meal highlighted by some of Hainan’s renowned fresh seafood, including its famed crab.
