Huangshan, which signifies “Yellow Mountain,” is located in the southern part of China’s Anhui Province. The Sheraton Huangshan Tunxi Hotel, meanwhile, is situated in the city centre, facing the beautiful Xin’an River, and within walking distance to the Central Business District (CBD) and government offices. Huangshan Tunxi International Airport (TXN) is just 30 minutes away.
Begin your sightseeing with a hike or cable car ride on Mount Huangshan. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and iconic symbol of China, the mountain’s unique granite peaks, Huangshan Pine trees, and stunning sunsets have been an inspiration for artists for centuries. Back in the city and just four kilometres from the hotel, Tunxi Ancient Street offers century-old shops selling souvenirs, trinkets, brushes, local teas, and traditional Chinese medicine. Peruse galleries showcasing the city’s famous ink stones and the four Chinese traditional treasures of study: writing brushes, ink, ink slabs and paper, along with antique furniture, calligraphy, paintings, and more. Stay after hours and enjoy the area’s festive evening atmosphere, which is exemplified by its traditional red lanterns. Top off the experience in one of the area’s numerous teahouses and restaurants serving Hui Cuisine, local snacks, and famous Huangshan Mao Feng Tea.
For another look into the region’s rich culture, explore two of China’s ten most charming ancient villages: Xidi and Hongcun, both in Yixian County. Each of these UNESCO World Heritage sites provides a rare opportunity to view traditional Chinese architecture, ancient culture, and art. Often called a fairyland, Xidi is embraced by mountains and clear streams while Hongcun is shrouded in clouds and mist, resembling an antiquated Chinese painting. For another perspective of the province’s multilayered culture, take a trip to nearby Shexian County. Surrounded by green mountains and crystal waters, it contains a vast array of ancient residences, memorial temples, and relics, including the famous complex of seven well-preserved arches in Tangyue Village.
We look forward to welcoming you to our special corner of the world at the Sheraton Huangshan Tunxi Hotel.
