The capital of China’s Guangxi Province and its political, economic, and cultural capital, Nanning is situated in a hill basin near Qingxiu Mountain, 160 kilometres from the Vietnam border. Located along Zhongfei Southern Road in the city’s ASEAN Business District, the Sheraton Nanning Hotel is just 45 minutes from the Nanning Wuxu Airport (NNG).
While Nanning means “South Tranquility,” the city is also referred to as the “Green City” due to its lush tropical foliage. Discover the verdant landscape for yourself at Nanhu Lake Park—or climb the stone steps at Nanning People’s Park and enjoy a breathtaking view from the city’s highest point. Take a peek inside the park’s century-old gun emplacement and discover its iron cannon before heading back down. Just a few kilometres south of the city is the majestic Liangfengjiang National Forest. Also nearby, Mount Qingxiu boasts evergreens, unique stones, pristine springs, and cultural relics while Yiling Cave—an exquisite, ancient karst cave—offers insight into the history and traditions of the Zhuang people.
For an in-depth glimpse into the region’s past, visit Guangxi Museum, which hosts China’s largest collection of ancient bronze drums. The museum also contains more than 50,000 artefacts, including thousands of books. For even more local culture, head next door to the Guangxi Ethnic Relics Center, which is home to characteristic architecture and handcrafts. Additionally, the center’s various restaurants offer myriad native tastes. Or, take a stroll around Yangmei Ancient Town. Named after a local fruit and located about 30 kilometres from Nanning, this scenic, traditional river town is studded with well-preserved buildings that date back through the dynasties.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Sheraton Nanning Hotel.
