Sheraton Wuhan Hankou Hotel is centrally located east of the Jianghan Plain in Wuhan—the capital of central China’s Hubei Province. Dating back some 3,500 years, this “thoroughfare of nine provinces” is considered one of China’s cultural gems. The hotel forms part of the Oceanwide City Square Mall and is within a short distance from popular shopping and dining destinations as well as numerous corporate offices.

As you explore Wuhan, the Hubei Provincial Museum is not to be missed. It houses interesting artifacts showcasing the province’s rich history, including a concert bell set excavated from ancient tombs. In addition to cultural exhibits, one can also watch an ancient music and dance performance. For a peaceful afternoon, visit the Rock and Bonsai Museum, featuring mounted stones, an enormous quartz crystal, and a tranquil outdoor bonsai garden.

For panoramic city views overlooking the Yangtze River, climb the famous Yellow Crane Tower. Dating back to 223, this historic landmark is one of the Four Great Towers of China. Along with examining its displays and age-old inscriptions, visitors can also strike the temple’s large bell for a nominal fee. More serenity can be found at the Guiyuan Buddhist Temple, an important shrine with awe-inspiring architecture, sculptures, and Buddhist doctrines.

Wuhan also boasts the largest lake within any city in China. Perfect for nature lovers, East Lake offers many scenic spots along its shores, including verdant parks, plum gardens, a bamboo forest, a bird sanctuary, and more. Evening entertainment abounds in Wuhan, especially on vibrant and colorful Jiqing Street, which is renowned for its numerous seafood and alfresco restaurants, street food served from pushcarts, and roving street performers.
