Situated in the northern part of Hunan Province in central China, Changde is a prefecture-level city known for its nearby scenic nature sites. The Sheraton Changde Wuling Hotel is ideally located at the intersection of Liuye Avenue and Zaoguo Road. Both downtown and Changde Train Station are five minutes from the hotel by car. The Changde Economic & Technology Zone and Changde Taohuayuan Airport (CGD) can be reached in 15 minutes.

During the day, take a stroll along the river to view the beautifully-etched inscriptions on Poem Wall. It is equally picturesque in the evening when illuminated. Explore the peaceful Peach Flower Garden, or paddle around on the lake on a paddleboat at Bin Lake Park.

Just 35 minutes by car from the hotel, Taohuayuan Resort is a top tourist attraction. Filled with temple pavilions and stone inscriptions, this scenic area is particularly popular during the Peach Blossom Festival, held annually at the end of March. Forming part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wulingyuan Scenic Area, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and its gigantic sandstone pillars are sights to behold. Located about 90 minutes from the hotel, it was the setting for the film Avatar. Visitors can choose to walk up the stairs or take a ride to the peak on an outdoor elevator. Filled with numerous historic sites and home to Dragon King Cave, one of China’s oldest and largest, nearby Shimen County is also noteworthy.

In Changde, shoppers will enjoy the South of the Bridge Marketplace, which is filled with a wide variety of stalls offering clothing, shoes, sporting goods, and much more. In addition to Hunan’s delectable spicy and aromatic cuisine, visitors should not miss sampling Changde’s most famous local delicacy: a salted duck dish called jiangbanya. The indigenous rice noodles with beef and local tea are also delicious.
