Once visited by ancient emperors, Qinhuangdao is a convenient escape from urban life. Take a stroll along one of the beautiful beaches and enjoy a refreshing swim in the sea. Laohushi Ocean Park and Beidaihe Pigeon Nest Park are both just five minutes from the hotel. The latter in particular is a top attraction for appreciating sunrises and the seascape, as well as birdwatching. It is also home to the 50-meter Ocean Viewing Corridor, which showcases more than 100 traditional frescos, plus a pavilion where celebrities and tourists alike write poems and draw pictures.
Take a day trip to Shanhaiguan for a sense of history. Located just 30 minutes away, this district has several interesting tourist spots, including the Shanhai Pass (one of the Great Wall of China’s major passes), First Pass under Heaven, and Old Dragon’s Head. For a bit of fun, head to the Nandaihe International Entertainment Center, just 20 minutes by car from the hotel. Surrounded by the ocean and a forest, it features rides, sand skiing, grass skiing, boating, and many other activities.
Qinhuangdao offers many handicrafts and ornaments made from sea products such as pearls and shells. Artificial amber is another popular local craft. Be sure to savor some delightful seafood. The area is particularly known for its crabs, scallops, pike, whelks, cuttlefish, and sea cucumbers.
