Chang An (Xian’s ancient name) was once the capital city of China and is where the famous Silk Road finds its origin. Historical sites are abundant in Xian, ranging from the tombs of various dynasties of Chinese Emperors, to the Famen Temple that preserved the crystallized finger bones of Sakyamuni, a founder of Buddhism.
Muslim Street is nearby, and offers a bevy of local delicacies from street vendors, as well as a remarkably well-preserved 1,300-year-old mosque blending Chinese and Arabic traditional architecture.
Shopping in the city center is just a short taxi ride away. Xian West Hi Technology Development Zone, home to major corporate company offices, is also just a few minutes from the Sheraton Xian Hotel.
