The only restaurant in the world to offer views of the giant mantra ray in its natural habitat, Rays on the Bay is situated atop the black lava cliffs that line the Kona Coast. Its prime location just feet from the bay, with waves crashing below, also offers dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean and Kona's world-famous sunsets.
The venue’s open-air design further elevates the experience by pairing endless views from every seat with cool ocean breezes and harmonious modern décor. In the dramatic entryway, wave-like sculptural walls and ocean-inspired blue lighting unite with contemporary sculptures and wood floors. The open-air, covered dining area features the same island mix, with high tables and stools, plus a lounge area that invites guests to relax on plush chairs and couches that surround low tables and fire pits. Throughout the space, innovative accents and pops of color, notably crimson red, complement the tropical plants and natural tones. And as the sun goes down and the stars appear, tiki torches and lanterns bathe the restaurant in a soft golden glow.
Executive Chef George Gomes's menu is similarly approachable and engaging. Focusing on locally sourced ingredients—such as sea salt, tropical fruits and vegetables, and the freshest local seafood, Hawaii Island beef, pork, and poultry—the chef presents an assortment of dishes featuring local Kona, Asian, and Northern American flavors.
Pupus, or hors d’oeuvres, range from our signature spider shrimp to ahi poke to sushi. A selection of crisp salads and burgers, pasta and flatbreads, like braised boneless short rib penne pasta and new Hawaiian crisp flatbread, add to the tempting options. Signature entrées include the Kiawe-smoked catch of the day, flame-grilled rib-eye steak, and much more. And all meals are perfectly paired with organic wines, local beers, and specialty cocktails, such as the Lilikoi punch, pineapple lychee pop, and a delicious variety of signature mai tais—not to mention rich Kona coffee.
The vibrant setting is further livened by local musicians, who provide live music every evening from 6pm to 9pm.
Additionally, Rays on the Bay's VIP Ulu Lounge is an ideal venue for parties of 10 to 25 guests. We even have two special set menus to help ensure a seamless, memorable evening. Please note that the lounge must be reserved a minimum of one week in advance.
Nestled poolside, featuring umbrella-topped tables, the Holua Poolside Bar & Lounge provides guests with a soothing break from sunbathing and pool fun. Along with impressive ocean views, the convenient venue serves up crisp salads, handmade wraps, and tempting sandwiches, such as the Keauhou grill sandwich. Island-style, locally influenced pupus—or hors d’oeuvres, like Kalua pork nachos—add to the tempting offerings, while refreshing mai tais, a full lineup of the local Kona Brewing Company’s micro-brewed beers, and more keep guests cool.
Engaging aloha service extends beyond the bar to include poolside delivery.
Discuss the day’s plans over a cup of locally grown Mama’s 100-percent Kona coffee at Keauhou Coffee Company. Designed to offer guests on the go a quick, yet nutritious breakfast, the casual coffee bar offers freshly brewed joe accompanied by pastries, breakfast bars, tropical fruit, oatmeal, and more.
