When you visit the charming, art-filled and bustling city of Burlington, VT, you must take advantage of the natural beauty that is at close hand. The Island Line Trail is a 12-mile bike/walk/rollerblade path that travels from downtown Burlington past beautiful beaches, through natural areas, parks and scenic vistas - the Colchester Causeway (a former rail line) takes you three miles out onto Lake Champlain. It is gorgeous, and an easy ride - stop along the way for a picnic or a swim... lovely! At the top of the causeway, there's a bike ferry that connects you back onto the mainland/South Hero, Vt. in August. Stop at North Beach on your way back into town for a dip in the lake to refresh!--Deidre.H
