Rated 5 out of 5 by WineSpectator A great place to stay at the gates of wine country
Our family recently stayed at the Sheraton Sonoma County in Petaluma, and had a wonderful experience. After a long drive through San Francisco traffic we finally arrived at the hotel totally wiped out. We were so happy to be greeted by the welcoming front desk staff who helped us immediately.
While booking online we were promised sparkling wine and strawberries upon our arrival. We didn't find the strawberries or wine, but there was a generous and delicious spread of charcuterie. Eventually I asked Josue at the front desk about the wine, and he brought it to our room immediately on ice.
We were travelling with a puppy, so we didn't want to sit in the restaurant, although the rockstar hostess, Jordan said she could accommodate us. We instead gave her our meal order at the host stand. At the same time an unruly table in the lounge well into their drinks started verbally accosting my lady and our dog, eventually accusing our dog of wetting the floor. Although we couldn't see where it happened, we were thoroughly embarrassed, and growing frustrated. Jordan defused the situation with the unruly table and told us not to worry about the dog, that it goes along with the territory of a hotel that accommodates pets. Thanks to Jordan our minds we were put at ease, and we able to enjoy our food back in our room in peace and quiet.
We enjoyed the food, and the comfort of our room that had a great view to the water. We highly recommend taking a run along the path through the estuary adjacent to the hotel at sunset. It was gorgeous. All in all we had a great stay thanks to the wonderful staff of your hotel. Hope to see you all again sometime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WilliamP Great place to stay for business or pleasure
Excellent facility and a fantastic staff! Uniquely located between the Sonoma/Napa wine country and the north pacific shore and mountains giving you access to many different experiences to explore. Kudo's to the chef, dinner each evening was excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by itspattc This hotel has a great location
This hotel is in a great location for anyone visiting any areas of wine country. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are large and the beds are super comfy. I had a very nice view of the boats on the bay. The windows open which is great if you like the cool breeze over air conditioning. Nice quiet location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jen8 Great hotel
We very much enjoyed our experience at the Sheraton Petaluma. The facility itself was very nice, and we were very pleased with the room, which was updated and in good repair. The walking path through the marsh was a great natural amenity. The only drawback is that the hotel is pretty close to the freeway, so freeway noise can be heard in the otherwise calm and beautiful setting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by CA2014 Is this really a Starwood property?
Excited to learn there was a Starwood property in Petaluma. But very disappointed in the whole experience. Lots of improvement needed... Large carpet cleaning machine blocking the hallway when we arrived to our Club floor. Club lounge was more like a daycare room ... Too small and filled with running children. Warm water and sodas in club lounge refrigerator, Not business friendly at all sorry to say. Bedroom had stained bed skirt, not a heavenly bed at all, mattress pad made bed stiff and warmer than usual, felt like I was in a kids bed, plastic mattress pad causes sweat, most uncomfortable bed ever due to this. Club room with marina view was good but not the bed or mediocre club lounge. Loudest ice machines echoing down hallways both on club level and ground level. Seemed more like a mediocre budget hotel than a Sheraton or any Starwood property. More than a design renovation needed.

We'll probably be staying at this property at another time when we visit our daughter in San Francisco. Thanks for a great three days!

Rated 5 out of 5 by savvygirl Wonderful Mother's Day Weekend
I decided on this hotel as it was a convenient place for all 6 family members to meet to celebrate Mother's Day. It was easy to get to (right off the 101) and a beautiful quaint area to explore including several casinos if you like to gamble and fabulous restaurants in the area. We were able to get 2 adjoining rooms and 1 other room right across the way all on the same floor. The front desk staff were all pleasant and extremely helpful and even acknowledged my parents 57th wedding anniversary by surprising them and sending up a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The lounge was nice but did not offer hot egg dishes, etc...was definitely a continental breakfast which we enjoyed especially the espresso machine that made excellent coffee drinks including a fabulous hot chocolate...you do have to pay $5 for wine or alcohol in the executive lounge so we did not drink in the lounge we bought wine at Trader Joe's and brought it back to our room. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this for all types of travelers. The entire staff was helpful, caring, professional, and made sure our stay was enjoyable and relaxing.

Ashley is terrific!! Helpful, charming, always friendly and quick to respond with a cheerful voice and demeanor.
You need more people at the front desk. One person and four waiting to check in is not good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Cat06 Needs some improvement
This Sheraton met my business travel needs for the most part, but the food for room service at breakfast was not great. The toast was really burnt. And I mean really burnt!
The room was way too warm for sleeping. The thermostat would not go below 68 and when I called the front desk they just said thats just the way it is.
The only reason I would recommend it is because it really is the only business hotel in Petaluma.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DKGirl Location, location, location
This is a beautiful hotel, situated among historical and cultural places that deserve to be explored... Not to mention all the amazing wineries. The place is very nice, and although the food is good, it didn't meet a level that I would call exceptional. What was exceptional however was the cost. Very reasonable for such a nice hotel, even room service was reasonable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nana51 Great personnel
Very disappointed in the quality of the room. I was in room 350 with a slow drain in the sink, a noisy gutter with a view of the roof, and an adjoining room with the door latch unlocked one day during my stay. In addition, one afternoon, house services tried entering my room with a house key but I had the security latch and denied entry. The houseman told me that I was supposed to check out! This was on Thursday and my check out was on Saturday April 5th! Decaf coffee only left in my room. No shuttle service. Very inadequate compared to the other Sheraton hotels I have experienced. The staff tried to explain each of these issues, but none were resolved during my stay. The restaurant staff was very kind and attentive and the food was delicious.

The AC wasn't working, the room didn't get too bad, but it would be miserable on warmer days. I ended up leaving my window cracked open the second day overnight, normally not a big deal, but I was on the first floor. I don't know if it was ducks or other animals, but they left behind little presents on the walkway outside my window facing the marina.
They have a nice trail from the parking lot that goes to the marshlands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Arod0204 You're unwelcome
When I arrived to the hotel at 6:30pm I didn't expect to arrive to a lobby of 20 people standing in line without a receptionist. I also didn't expect to have a 30 minute wait to get checked in. There was no explanation as to why we had to wait and some people were turned away because the hotel was overbooked. An SPG Platinum member that was in line in front of me was upset because he is supposed to have a special line and was forced to wait and didn't get the room he wanted. There were other staff members that would walk up to the reception counter but didn't offer to help out or say anything. They went to reception and got out as fast as they could. I would never recommend a hotel that doesn't concern themselves with their patrons' well being or whether they have somewhere else to be.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SUNNY75 Noisy heater
We stayed in a deluxe room with 11,000 Starwood points last weekend to celebrate our 10th anniversary, though it's not worth it. Nothing impressive. When we checked in, the hotel staff looked tired of many guests and weren't friendly at all, but check-out was OK. Complimentary wifi was great, but it's too bad the hotel doesn't provide slippers and bathrobes. Most of all, the heater in the room (#210) was extremely noisy, we couldn't relax as well as sleep at all. Overall the hotel was OK, but isn't worth the 11,000 points.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JM555 Disappointed
As an SPG member for a number of years now, we expected a little better room, our view was the backside of the air conditioning units and I do not believe the hotel was full. The carpet was badly stained, housekeeping did not leave us any wash cloths one day, they did not leave us coffee cups and condiments the second day, but the worst was finding someone's very large toe nail in our bed. I expect more than this from a Sheraton. We were very disapointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by gubh The place to stay if you want comfort and courteous staff
The room was very clean. I slept wonderfully as the bed was very comfortable, but what impressed me the most was the complimentary bottle of wine for my tenth stay there. That was a very classy move on their part. I would recommend this hotel. Also their staff was very courteous and helpful. Way to go Sheraton Petaluma!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Brad98125 Good stay in area with limited options
I stay here regularly on business and have been generally satisfied. One issue is the late afternoon happy hour, which is popular, and if you don't arrive right at the beginning - or wedge yourself into the crowd around the bar - the service is slow and inattentive. Last visit after a long wait I finally got served by staff from the adjoining restaurant. My suggestion is that Sheraton adequately staffs the lounge or eliminate happy hour. I'd prefer to pay full price for a higher level of service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tipthehat Many mediocre stays
I've stayed at this particular Sheraton about a dozen times and it's consistently just a pretty good experience. The facility is nice but the service is very mixed. The front desk generally seems understaffed. There is often a line and except for one or two of the staff, they often seem rushed, confused and a bit rude. Customer service is a weak point. The gift shop always opens 15mins to 1 hour late, which is annoying when I''m trying to get a morning coffee there. The Internet access is very spotty and very slow. Tech support was not helpful. The Fitness room is poorly kept (sometimes missing towels and water). But the rooms are clean and very comfortable and the hotel is modern and well-equiped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mylene2370 Very Nice
This is my first time to stay in this hotel, and I must say, my stay was very pleasant. The staff was able to check us in early and was even able to accommodate my friend's request for a room with a marina view and on the same floor where I was. The lobby was beautiful and our room was nice. I had a view of the marina, too! Being a techy, I enjoyed their free and fast Wi-fi connection and the fact that I could control their tv with my mobile phone! The fridge in the room was convenient for having a late snack at night and I love the availability of the safe in the room for my valuables. Located in the quiet city of Petaluma, it was very convenient indeed that the hospital where I was assigned was less than 2 miles away from the hotel. My only area for improvement was that our hotel card key, for some reason, was always getting demagnetized. I tried to keep it away from my cellphone, but it would not work on the club lounge door and my hotel room. I had to have it changed twice. Other than that, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, making my business trip a truly pleasurable one.

We stayed for two nights (Dec 20-21, 2103) at the Petaluma Sheraton. It's in a beautiful setting and we had no problem with the comfortable, quiet room. However, we were not told at check in that this is a Pet Friendly place. I love pets but I am allergic to them. I slept badly but didn't know why: then I heard dogs running up and down the hall. Then I noticed dog hairs all over the lobby, on the rugs and chairs, where I was sitting. When my husband asked, a staff member admitted our room was in the Pet Friendly area. I could have had an asthma attack, instead of "just" suffering from the allergies that bothered me to point of not being able to sleep. But here is the worst part: when we asked to speak with the guest service manager, and was told she would be in later after we checked-out, I left my cell number. She never returned my call. I called her 5 times and left messages, always being told by the front desk that she would be in later. Then I called the Central Manager and left him a message. No return call. Although they were both out at some point for vacation, I know from the front desk they were both in numerous times when I called, although obviously busy and I was always put through to their voice mail. How rude! What terrible customer relations. The only kindness came from the nice woman working the Starbucks mini café next to the front desk who overheard my pet-related problems and how I hadn't been asked if pet friendly was OK for me (not). She gave me a free cup of coffee. Thank you, whoever you were, because that's the only response I ever received from anyone at the hotel. Shame on you, managers! We would have stayed with our daughter in Petaluma but she has a cat!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Rancher Absolutely no SPG recognition...ever
I have stayed here monthly since the end of the summer. As a platinum, I have yet to be upgraded, even when I ask for it and the hotel is more or less empty. The lounge serves among the skimpiest and least healthy breakfasts of any Sheraton, this in spite of the hotel promoting "local cuisine" in its high end restaurant. The staff ranges from pleasantly incompetent to unpleasantly incompetent.
I think my final staw with this Sheraton was a few days ago. A wide variety of suites were available when I booked and checked in an hour later. I asked for a suite upgrade and was told none were available. When I then showed the clerk all the suites that were currently on offer, she reluctanly "upgraded" me to a junior suite. This micro room was no suite. The room I was assigned barely held a bed and a chair. I would guess it was around 250-300 square feet. It is among the smallest if not the smallest room in the hotel, according to the hotel plan which I asked to see upon checkout.
I was too tired to go back down to the desk after all that.
Add insult to injury: I was billed for a rollaway which could not have possibly fit into the room.
