I always enjoy staying at the Sheraton Pentagon City. I have been going there since it was the National.
SPG guests parking should be free.
SPG Club should be open on Saturday Mornings.

The staff always anticipted our needs, without smothering us. Room service was efficient and food was very appetizing. Unfortunately the pool was closed for repairs, but we knew this when booking the room

The staff is nice and the room was uncomfortable. The only thing I wish I knew was that there was construction right out my hotel window that started at 5am, but other than that everything was great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dissatisfied14 Overall Bad Experience
I stayed here for a wedding event. We had reservations that I booked at the end of October under a group rate for the wedding. I booked four rooms with double beds. When we arrived at the hotel, just before three, we were told it would be 40-50 minutes until the rooms were ready. Not what you want to hear after traveling six hours. Finally they "found" a room, with a king bed. Uh, no. waited while they scrambled around and came up with a double room. But only one. We were able to take the luggage to this room, and get on with our plans. They tried to give us another room, but it had a horrible odor, something of a cross between heavy cigarette smoke and cat urine. The rug was filthy. I have a feeling it is a room they don't use often. They did eventually offer us a suite, which was a nice surprise. They also comped the internet and parking fees. But the other two rooms remained king accommodations. When I called the 800 number to check on the reservations and make sure that I had booked what I thought, I was told they were switched to the king rooms at 11:51 that morning. "Did I check in early?" -No, at that time I was halfway to my destination. The desk clerks told me they overbooked their double rooms - somehow, that shouldn't be my problem.
The shuttle service was nice to take you to the shopping mall and metro. The shower was a drip, with low water pressure. My family was spread out all over the hotel. There were hundreds of kids on school trips. The rooms were clean, but dated, with stains on the carpets and the furniture was a little beat up. The location is a little inconvenient, but from the side of the hotel facing Washington, the view is spectacular, if you are up high enough.. Otherwise you are looking down into people's houses and yards.
The wedding reception was great. Good food, quickly served, and run without problems. Except for the lights which I saw at least three people, including myself and a waitress, trip over.
Suffice to say, it is not a place I am ready to run back to right away.

I have stayed here many times and am a platinum member. This hotel is usually my choice when in DC. The service is always over the top. My family came with me this time and we all had a great time.

Your location couldn't have been better next to the Marine base (Veteran). The room was very nice. Your just a short hop to the city (DC). Your staff bent over backwards to help us. Thank you.

poor communications regarding amenities like the pool being closed until sept, one would think in the middle of summer in DC that the pool would be open and repairs would be done in the fall

Rated 4 out of 5 by Elliotd Great hotel, gym in middle of renovations
Had a great one night stay here. Just be aware the gym is under going renovations (as of 07/2012) and the temporary gym is essentially a gutted hotel room. Very cramped.
Parking is $22.50

Location was perfect. The shuttle can bring you to the metro at 30min intervals. So going to DC was not a problem. However during our stay, the shuttle was late a few times.

Great location, close to freeways, DCA, Arlington Cementary, and Pentagon. Parking is pricey at hotel and everywhere in town, so getting to metro from hotel would be nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NewCanaanHector Better options within the area
We had planned a few days' holidays in the DC area. But we had commitments in Maryland, so we thought that this hotel made sense.
I had reserved an accessible room with a King bed, but got a double double. Halfway down a staircase in the "annex". At street level. No view, lots of noise, very little privacy.
As apologetic as the front desk guy was, it was not what we wanted, nor what we reserved.
They had some sort of event, and I know how those things get on everybody's nerves, but clearly management needs to think if they want the event/group business or the individual customer business, and if they want both, they clearly need to define priorities.
Next time I reserve a hotel night, unless I know the specific hotel, I'll call and make sure that no event is taking place during our stay.
The parking was expensive, and even more expensive for the hotel guest than an "all day" rate; which is, frankly, ridiculous.
Restaurant was more than good.
Shuttle service was exemplary.
The hotel clearly needs an update and some real maintenance, especially the hydraulics.
Will try to stay at a different hotel when/if we ever need/want to go to DC again.
