Rated 3 out of 5 by Overpriced... The Sheraton was the recommended conference for a conference I was attending at the BJCC. I am a Birmingham native and have always thought great things about the hotel. I must say that I was extremely disappointed. The staff was very nice and friendly; however, the accommodations were not on par with the nightly rate. The rooms were a decent size; however my room had some peeling wallpaper and there was dust in the corners. The bathrooms were extremely small and there was dust and dirt in the corners of the ceiling and worn wallpaper on the walls. My room was in the tower portion of the hotel, had a nice view, and was on a "SPG Preferred Floor"; however, the carpet on the floor needs to be replaced and the walls had scratch marks where they had been bumped with luggage and housekeeping carts. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again with the prices listed. September 30, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed The Check in experience was great. Staff was responsive and courteous. The room however, was disappointing. The window insulation was hanging from the frame, the furniture in the room was damaged, and the wall covering was damaged in several places. July 14, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dont pay for club access We had purchased the club access for its convenience and location next to our room. there were no plates or cups available. We contacted the desk for a refund were they sent us to the second floor for breakfast. There was confusion because you are supposed to have a coupon which we didn't. The bar and grill was a nightmare. No seating, horrible service and the wait staff did not seemed interested in waiting on you. November 20, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Convenient to Center Hotel was convenient to Civic Center and Sports Hall of Fame. No free WiFi connection in room; paid connections ($10 per day) must be renewed each day. If tech support is needed, you will be connected to India. Cell phone reception in room was nonexistent. Cold water one day and low water pressure. No frig or safe in room. Most staff were friendly and helpful. Quiet and otherwise comfortable. Right on trolley line. October 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Honest Assessment The hotel itself is a great facility. During check-in, the representative didn't seem to be attentive nor willing to check me in. She never acknowledged me, another representative finally did. Once I got to my floor, on the Club Level, there was bags of trash in the hall-way next to my room; it was 5:30 p.m. Unacceptable! Someone finally removed the bags of trash sometime after 8 p.m. The Club Lounge was excellent. May 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pillows/ Parking Everything was great except the pillows. I think they're probably expensive down pillows. They look plush and fluffy until... you sleep on them. They seem to flatten out after a while. Two pillows were too much! The parking deck is ridiculously expensive. But I'm not sure whether that is the hotel or the city. June 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mrs. Great location for travelers...wonderful and friendly staff. I was even allowed to have early check in before the conference began which was very helpful for my schedule. Everything was perfect except there was no soap in the bathroom when I arrived. But I called for the soap and it was delivered within 10 minutes. Then later someone called to be sure that the items had been delivered. So I was a happy camper!!! January 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome! From the moment we checked in to the moment we left our stay here was exceptional. Jocelyn was so helpful and kind during check in. We were there for the Extrodinary Women's Conference at the BJCC so everything was right there. The only issue we had was when the conference was over was getting out of the parking garage. It took one hour to get out. Would definately recommend this hotel and will stay there again. May 1, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by This hotel was horrible! For one of the largest hotels in the area, it needs a lot of work. Room was not cleaned when we arrived. I had to sanitize my own bath, again, after staff tried cleaning it. water was not hot enough. I had to run for a long time, to get hot and I was on a business trip. Internet was not working, even after having to pay extra for it. No microwave and refrigerator. a must with children. Inside pool out of order. November 24, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Unbelievable Staff and Attention tonDetail I can not say enough about every staff member at this hotel. They made a very difficult trip just a true pleasure to come back to the room each day and night. Everyone from valet, to the front desk, lobby bar and restaurants made it a point to call me by name and that shows attention to detail. I will be staying again soon and anytime I am in the area this will be my home away from home. Thanks to everyone. May 4, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by This Hotel Needs Improvement The room was nice Great bed all was clean but handyman needs to do some work that should have been done before renting out. air-handler cover needs screws, (falling off wall) Tub needs some acid run down the drain due to it not draining correctly. Staff in main entrance needs to know more about where you send you guests, before you send them somewhere. and much more that is to much to write here. March 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Stay! We have stayed on several different occasions and never been disappointed. Very clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable. Ours rooms have always been reasonably quite for such a busy hotel. Love that it is attached to the BJCC for going to events. Complementary breakfast was really good and in a clean nice and peaceful area. It is a long walk from the parking garage. I would suggest luggage on wheels :) January 12, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Overall Stay My resent stay did not meet my expected standards for a Sharton Hotel. The room did not have any ready available outlets to plug in my cellphone charger or laptop. My stay was on a Monday evening and the ESPN channel did not display so I missed the MNF game that evening. Also the room was always hot and did not cool down even when I lowered the temp. Not an enjoyable stay. Also the iron did not heat up. October 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Night Auditor I thought I would have trouble booking a same night points reservation after midnight. But I was wrong. Both the hotel staff and central reservations were very helpful and patient. When I arrived I was greeted by a genuinely kind lady with a warm smile and all the information I needed to feel comfortable in your facility right away. Though the hotel is a bit outdated the staff made all the difference. September 24, 2013

A couple of snafus...(1) Heat went out in room on the 3rd night..was offered another room but opted to stick it out due to inconvenience of moving...(2) For some UNKNOWN reason my car was parked out front when it was supposed to be in valet parking. I am still upset and dismayed over this incident, especially with the immediate disclaimer that the parking and hotel were separate companies...really!!! November 24, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Due to the design of this hotel it is noisy On my first night the guests in the adjacent room were loud and disruptive, inhibiting my sleep. On my second night in the hotel, a large group of young students were extremely loud in the atrium area and disrupted my sleep. Security addressed the problem quickly on the first night. With a large contingent of business people in the hotel, the service for breakfast was sluggish and took too much time. April 19, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Not worth the money or stress This hotel was very disaapointing. The parking for this property is far removed from the lobby. The escalators were out of service, the evelvators did not operate properly and at one point the door opened half way between floors. The front desk clerk upon my checking out proceeded to argue with me that I gave her the wrong room number. On future trips to Birmingham I will seek other accomodations. January 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Awful Staying at this hotel was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Check in took forever. Clerk was rude. Manager not helpful at all. Rooms were old and falling apart. Valet was full both nights so we had to self park and walk. Hotel was very noisy and room service was terrible and they lost our order so we had to call many times. I travel a lot and stay in many hotels...this was the worst!! April 8, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not much to eat... The hotel itself was very comfortable. It's in the business district and there are not many places to eat within walking distance. There was a convention going on, so all the food facilities within the hotel were completely overrun. Also the headboard literally fell off the bed when I reached behind to plug in my computer cord. The shuttle took about 45 minutes to pick us up at the airprot. February 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Needs an Update I enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton. The room was comfortable and the bed was fantastic. Additionally, the water pressure in the shower was great and we were on a high floor. I also enjoyed the club level service. That said, there's no wi-fi in the rooms! They need to update this quickly. Westin, another Starwood property has recently opened in Bham. On my next trip back I think I'll stay there. February 19, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Never again The room decor was dated and old. Although i like it warm, the hallways were sweltering while the rooms remained cold. While checking out, the bill was much more than what was expected and when i pointed this out to the lobby clerk, she smiled and continued to repeat that she did not know where the charge came from and she cannot explain it, but she cannot do anything about it. horrible stay. Rated 3 out of 5 by Hotel Room Guest Servives wrote room 727 on our key card envelope and the key didn't work. The bell men opened the door for us. We settled down. Another guest tried to opened our door. They were given a key for rm. 727. We went to the front desk and talked to the same woman who gave us the key. She became confused. She said that we should be in rm. 728 and should move all our stuff. My parents are elderly and I asked her to give us a key for room 727. The other guest was willing to get a new room. The manager corrected the mistake. We never received an apology for the mix up. Later that day: I called guest services for additional wash cloths and towels. She asked me why I needed more and was told that I only have 3 guests in my room. Housekeeping came and gave me what I needed. I was appalled that I needed to explain to guest services why I needed more towels. I felt like was staying in a low class motel. January 24, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Better skip Birmingham next time The check in process was very long. While there were 8 stations available to check into this downtown hotel, only two were manned. The line was not that long, but it took us over half an hour to check in. There was no special consideration for SPG members. There was no local free parking. There was only self park ($12) or valet ($20). The valet service was the only bright spot of this whole stay. There was no concierge/club level lounge available, which I found hard to believe from a large, downtown hotel. Breakfast buffet for two was $35 and the quality and service were in line with a $3.50 buffet for two. I had received a $25 SPG gift reward that was not honored. The next night we stayed at a Sheraton in Charlotte where all these negatives were reversed which helped restore my faith in the chain. Keep a low level of expectation if you want to stay at the Sheraton Birmingham, and you'll be OK. August 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this place I have to say that your staff is amazing every time I stay here! My only Concern is the parking staff they are quite Rude and very Inefficient! This really needs to change it was a horrible exchange every time we needed to get our car it took 20 30 min UNACCEPTABLE!!! Other than that The Sheraton staff is great and very professional! I will be back! But please fix the Parking staff!! February 3, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Concierge Service Our conference ran long so we had to check out before we were leaving the hotel. This gentleman was the only staff member who greeted us kindly during our whole stay. He stored our bags and later when it was time to leave, took a cart and escorted us personally to our vehicle with our luggage. Other staff in the hotel performed their duties but, not with a smile and rarely a thank you. October 19, 2013
