Rated 5 out of 5 by Extraordinary SPG-Platinum recognition We stayed in the hotel for two nights. Our Platinum-status was immediately recognized and we got a room upgrade from a standard to an executive club room. It had the best view I ever had in an hotel and at Bangkok in particular. Mentionable is also the very well equipped club lounge. Also one of the best club lounges I have ever seen in a Sheraton. To keep it short: The facility as well as the very responsive staff are a hit! May 7, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Impeccable Service My wife and I stayed one night at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers and wished we could have stayed longer. We were treated very well and the accommodations were very comfortable and welcoming. The restaurants were superb. The boat shuttle was great. The view of the river from our room was phenomenal. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The Club Lounge had food, drinks, and service far beyond what we have had in many other lounges. We were very impressed. We would definitely stay here again, and for more than one night. March 19, 2016

Rated 4 out of 5 by Stellar service, with a few areas that could be improved Overall, the facilities and service were excellent, though there were a few disappointments for us that made our stay less enjoyable. First, the positive: (1) The standard of service is very high. We were quite impressed with most of the hotel employees with whom we interacted — especially in the Sheraton Club Lounge. (2) The location near the river affords nice views from the higher floors (though somewhat marred by the huge construction projects across the river), and it's reasonably convenient to the Royal Palace and surrounding temples. (3) The Executive Suite is spacious, comfortable, and well designed. (4) We appreciated the live traditional music in the lobby. Now, the areas that could be improved: (1) There was almost nothing that we could eat in the restaurants. We follow a healthy diet (emphasizing fresh green foods, with no animal products), but we found all the hotel restaurants (and the Club Lounge) to be highly focused on meat and dairy products. There was almost nothing we could eat, and nothing that was appealing enough for us to want to dine in the restaurants, so we wound up needing to go out for all of our meals. We request that your chefs take into consideration the growing trend of health-conscious eating by offering a greater variety of vegetarian and vegan items (e.g. not just plan stir-fried morning glory, but creative and flavorful vegan dishes). Likewise, the Club Lounge should offer a salad bar (as most other Sheraton Clubs around the world do), and fresh juices would be appreciated, too (as one finds at many other Starwood properties in Thailand and elsewhere). (2) Despite being an SPG Platinum member (and despite the fact that I had requested a high-floor room), I was not given a room on an SPG floor. Instead, I was given a room on the 16th floor, which required us to keep changing elevators every time we came and went from the Club Lounge, which was a nuisance that could've been avoided by giving us a room on the 17th floor or higher. (3) The hotel’s ferry service to and from Saphan Taksin was sometimes unreliable. A few times it was 5 or 6 minutes late, which is not too bad, but once we rushed to get to Saphan Taksin by 2:09, in order to catch the 2:10 ferry, only to find that the ferry had already left a few minutes early (around 2:07), requiring us to wait another 35 minutes for the ferry. (And, while we were waiting, the ferries of several competing hotels came and went 3 or 4 times each.) (4) On two occasions, the housekeeping staff threw away items that were not garbage. One was a a flower arrangement we had put on the table, and another was a pastry we had planned to eat later (apparently they assumed it was rubbish because it was in a small paper bag on the shelf). (5) The internet was unusually slow (webpages taking a long time to load, etc.). Other than those issues, the service was excellent and our stay was quite pleasant, and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for guests keen to stay right on the river — with one caveat about limited options for healthy eating in the Club Lounge and the hotel restaurants. Rated 3 out of 5 by Train your staff 1- My VISA PREMIER was refused for check-in deposit, so I had to pay each time after consuming F&B in hotel. Staff keep saying that I have a debit card despite evidence. Then manager finally explained that it's because deposit are too long to be refunded from Thailand. But as far as I know, you are not supposed to charge the card for a room deposit and never had such issue in Thailand before with this credit card. 2- SPG member number was given but had to go twice at reception to activate free internet in my room. 3- StarHot discount was refused to me on buffet price at Italian restaurant because it was St Valentin night. Next day I went to check dinner buffet and it was exactly same buffet at same price. Staff said it's too late to discount as already paid the day before. 4- Staff entered in my room to put fruits while I was in the room without waiting me to open the door after ringing door bell. To conclude, my stay was one of my worst experience in a Starwood hotel. In comparison, Le Meridien and W Bangkok are on another planet of service. February 18, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing View, Relaxing Rooms and Pool A top choice in Bangkok - this hotel looks like it’s nearly new, despite having decades of experience under it’s belt. As a Platinum member I was brought to the Club Lounge to complete my check-in, by very friendly and pleasant staff. I was upgraded to an Executive Club room, one of the xx17 corner rooms facing the river. What a view! I was mesmerized by watching the activity on the river from both the sitting room as well as the bed - which ends up facing the river windows as well for a breathtaking sunset. The rooms were spacious and luxurious - a great place to stay! The Club Lounge also has a great view, with a wide selection of breakfast options for all visitors. Another area where I simply sat watching the river. On the 1st floor you can access two pools - the Terrace Pool which has several lounging chairs around it to enjoy the weather and watch the river, and the Garden Pool, which is part of the Portuguese Embassy. It has another large pool with a swim-up bar, and also has a running track around the garden, and lots of peacocks. The hotel also offers a free shuttle boat between the hotel and the closest train station, in a luxurious boat with cold towels and water after a warm day. It’s also adjacent to the water taxi line, for those looking to take a trip. I would love to return to this hotel again! February 4, 2016

The quality of service at all levels exceeds all expectations. Particularly noteworthy is the Sheraton Club with its extraordinary food, beverages, physical facilities, and guest services. Rated 3 out of 5 by Good location Overall not bad hotel. River views are great. But I had some troubles. Check in first of all. We were escorted to club lounge but only one women there was busy. We had to wait a long time without any attention, nobody offered us a glass of water for example. Breakfast for platinums provided only at lounge and dishes was limited. Rated 2 out of 5 by Canceled approved 24 hour check in Had an approved check in time at noon, and when i arrived the hotel let me know they didn't have a room available for me. I then showed them the email from management confirming they would have a room when I arrived early, and was simply told "sorry" Needless to say, that evening management did find me and appolgized for their mistake, but that didn't help the issue that occurred earlier. The good- nice boat shuttle to BTS, but hours can be sporadic. (when the boat isn't running, they have a van) December 8, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rude staff | Avoid eating here I am an SPG platinum member who stays >150 nights a year at hotels and >100 nights a year at Sheraton hotels. I travel a lot in Europe, Middle East and S.E.Asia. By far, the staff in this Sheraton, the kitchen staff in particular are the most rude people I have met. I checked in friday late at night after a long flight and went to sleep directly. Saturday morning I was very hungry and went down to the breakfast place wearing a decent outfit and the slippers they provide in the room. I took some food on the plate and was walking towards my table. A staff (Mr. Chatupol or something similar, he is the chef ) asked me to leave the restaurant in the most rude manner possible. He shouted so loud that everyone around were looking at me. Apparently the slippers are not permitted in the restaurant. There is also a sign board that says that, but it was not so prominently visible. I said "Sir, please do not humiliate me. The least you could do is to keep your volume down". He says "I don't care, impossible, I have norms here and I will not allow you". I explained him how I do not have spare footwear except for the formal leather shoes I wear with business suit. Additionally I was in disbelief that one could ask someone to leave the plate and leave the restaurant. After pleading several times he said "Ok I forgive you this time, go sit there (a crooked corner)". I felt so awkward and insulted I sat in the corner for few minutes and left. Next day I raised this issue at the SPG desk and they said they will investigate the issue and get back to me in few days. I don't think an issue as such should be done over 'few days'. As someone from service industry myself, rule no.1 is "Never insult a customer". Nevertheless if this investigation ever happens, I would like to be a part of it to make sure it is not one-sided. But a note to the management - If I were you, I would advise Mr. Chatupol to contact the insulted guest personally and offer a written apology or oral apology with 12 hrs of reporting. It is important to set an example for client services and coaching your staff. I believe Mr.C has good culinary skills and can go up his career ladder, but you need to help him have the right mindset. I can recommend you to contact Sheraton in Riyadh who have one of the best service-oriented culture. They could also coach your staff on how to have challenging conversations or disagreements without insulting. Additionally you could try any of the following - 1. Place a card in the rooms asking not to wear the slippers to breakfast 2. Have spare 'acceptable' footwear at the breakfast place for those who wear their 'in-floor' footwear December 7, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely hotel with amazing staff OVERALL IMPRESSION: The hotel has a real old world charm in a very nice and convenient location with lovely staff to top it all off. SPG RECOGNITION: The SPG recognition of this hotel was great. I was greeted by João the front office manager who was excellent and extremely helpful. THE ROOM: The room was everything I expected, it was nicely maintained and well kept. The view was great looking out over the river and fun to watch the boats computing up and down the river. THE HOTEL and FACILITIES: The hotel is a very classic hotel with a nice Thai feel. There is a little shopping level that connects directly onto a larger shopping mall beside the hotel. There is a very delicious Thai restaurant in the hotel that we went to. The food at the hotel was amazing and they also had some Thai dancing that was entertaining to watch while eating our meals. There is another garden and pool that feels totally unique especially in Bangkok as its surrounded by a nice large garden that has a walking track around and also has many peacocks walking around. There is a very well equips gym with great quality equipment and also a great little sauna in the changing rooms. The bar down on the decking beside the river is amazing and I highly recommend sitting down there of an evening enjoying some food and drinks while watching the nightlife on the river. LOCATION: The location of this hotel is great, with it being located just beside one of the ferry docks makes it great for commuting up to the temples and many other tourist attractions via the river. The sheraton also has a complimentary shuttle boat service down to the main pier. EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS: We came back to the room one afternoon and were surprised to find a Birthday Cake in the room wishing my father a Happy Birthday. His birthday was the week before we arrived and yet Mr. João once again went above and beyond to make your stay that little bit more special and memorable. I highly recommend this hotel as a great place to stay for relaxing and also due to the great location to catch the ferries up and down the river. Spending some time in the garden and pool is truly relaxing. The staff are amazing and made the stay that much more enjoyable and memorable. October 19, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by All Rooms with Chaophraya River View First of all, special thanks to the professional staff in the concierge/bell, shuttle boat, front reception and the Tower lounge. The front office manager, Joao leads his team very well. I always enjoy being in Bangkok, especially at the Royal Orchid Sheraton. I also see GM all times in walking/checking around to see everything is in order. Just to name a few, the front office manager Joao, Nimit of customer relations, Rungtiwa and Kanjana of Tower lounge. I have been staying this service oriented hotel over 25 years...always impressed with their services. It is a top notch hotel in Bangkok. Very friendly staff with outstanding/efficient services. Everyone has a can-do attitude. Thank you for being one of my favorite hotels in the world. SPG recognition is very well and benefits like lounge access here at this hotel is fantastic. 27th floor all glass walled Tower Lounge over Chaophraya River is always very relaxing. Breakfast buffet at the lounge was extensive and very good. Lounge staff outstanding...always try to address your name and has a can-do attitude...I am impressed every time I stay at this property. The hotel provides shuttle boat services to and from the Saphan Tuksin BTS Sky Train station every 30 minutes till 22:00. The gym is a good size with all kinds of cardio machines, strength equipments and free weights with shower/sauna facility. October 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Business Stay Royal Orchid Bangkok Keith Hardie the GM runs a very tight ship. He is always on the floor and watching daily operations. Great Hotel, friendly staff, amenities, restaurants, rooms and service. Bangkok is not always an easy place to find a good hotel at a fair price, especially when you are there on business. The SRO is the pick of the bunch. Yes, rooms could use a bit of a freshen up but this is normal for most hotels. I had a couple of minor issues in room such as a light switch problem and wardrobe. Keith had both fixed immediately. Highly recommend this hotel and Keith as a GM. Well done! August 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Staff Service & Attitude My stay was fruitful and enjoyable thanks to the professional and diligent staff in the various departments of this hotel. Very knowledgeable concierge department for transportation arrangements. Fast & speedy front desk personnel helped in checking in. Great lobby bar and club lounge with diligent staff, especially the senior ones who certainly knows how make your day start and end well with their services and skills. Compliments to the following staff I remembered for their good service and attitude during my stays in the last two weeks: Ms. Kanjana, Ms. Janejira, Mr. Wuttichai, Ms. Wanlapa & Mr. Walakarat. Also appreciate the shuttle boat crew for their patience in waiting for those that may be a little slow in getting on the boat and the refreshing towels and drinks provided on return trips when they are needed most. Rated 4 out of 5 by brand makes temptation during the check in two apples and one banana in the room (a platter of fresh fruit?) looks great. but the working table somehow is not in balance when i put on my laptop. it was not fixed during my 4 night 5 day stay though i didn't complain tempting it would be done ! on last day of my stay i have to call for room cleaning ! first two nights could not sleep well due to oversize of pillow later changed the pillow and slept well. overall nice hotel no doubt. Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't forget your room number!! I live in Asia and went to Bangkok to relax for the weekend. It ended up being a nightmare. The first time I went to the gym the fitness staff lifted his head and pointed to the paper and said "sign". I asked him for a locker key and he said "no". I had to do sign language with him to get him to give me a locker key. I remember this guy from before. He is extremely rude and always just looks up and points. I told one of the other gym staff and he said "Oh he can not speak English" I said then he shouldn't be working at a customer facing position at a 4 star hotel. As well I am sure he can say "hello" in English or even a greeting in Thai would be nice. I can not understand why a hotel would employ such a person with no manners or respect for guests. Another time during my stay I went to the pool and after about an hour another fitness staff walked up to me and asked "what is your room number?". I said "2408" and he walked away. I thought that was really strange since he only came up to me and no one else and I have been to the pool 20 times in the last few years and have never been asked. A few minutes later I gathered up my things and went to the men's locker room. I was in my underwear when he stormed in the room and said "2408 already check out!" I was shocked standing in my underwear being questioned like this. I got a little nervous remembering the pool scene from Brokedown Palace when the girls snuck into the hotel pool. I looked around for my card key case with the room number on it. I could only remember I was on the top floor of the hotel. I asked "what is the top floor of the hotel?" And he got so angry at me and said "I asked you your room number. I ask everyone for their room number #not true# for security reasons" Again I tried to explain that my room was on the top floor of the hotel and again he said losing his patience "You gave me wrong room number. I asked you your room number" and then he shoved a piece of paper at me and said "Write down your name on this piece of paper". During this there was another guest in the locker room and he was speechless and gave me a look of horror and walked out. So standing in my underwear I wrote down my name. He was furious at me! He slammed open the door again to leave and I asked him his name. He wouldn't answer. Then I lost my cool and screamed at him asking his name but he wouldn't answer and stormed off. I could not believe I was having this confrontation. I have never had a hotel employee in my life get angry at me! He came back a few minutes later and said "OK you are a guest of the hotel" I was in room 2804 by the way - mixed up my numbers :) Anyway I am disgusted that someone would treat a guest like this. Why does the hotel give a Lifeguard this power to chase a guest into the locker room and demand their room number? It is not fair to the man who greets me so nicely when my taxi arrives, or the bell man kindly asking me if I need help with my bags, or the front desk staff who walks me to the elevator and brings me to the exec floor, or the exec floor people who say "welcome back" with a big smile, or housekeeping who always give me a big friendly Thai greeting,or the river shuttle staff who give me a warm welcome aboard. They all work as a team to deliver a positive experience and these two guys named "Boy" and "Ray" completely ruined my experience/weekend. July 20, 2015

Rated 1 out of 5 by Both customer service and the interior of the room need improvement I booked this hotel to celebrate my friend's birthday. I emailed to the hotel staff and they said a cake will be in the room. However, there was nothing inside the room. In addition, the interior of the room is old and too "Wet". The hotel is near the river and the moist atmosphere is understandable, but I didn't expect even the bed sheet is wet. The hotel staff should have opened the air conditioners for some hours to dry the room inside before they provide the room to the customers. The uncommitted promise disappoint both my friend and me and the bad environment like this even sadden us. My friend didn't stay overnight and I only stay for one night, As a spg gold member, I actually didn't feel my status is being recognized and as a preferred guest. Anyway, I decided to switch to other hotel group. June 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sheraton Royal Orchid (High standard with special extras) We enjoyed this hotel a great deal. We liked the extra touches that you do not get with other hotels for examples, escorting you to your room, a cool drink and cold cloth to refresh you on arrival, the shuttle boat is a must (we enjoyed the cold water and cold cloth again here). Its a great hotel for exploring and seeing all the temples and Grand Palace. The only thing we think should be improved is more signs to get to the hotel (we were driving ourselves) and it was a little tricky to find. We enjoyed the variety of food. June 8, 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable at the main river We stayed two times 4 days at your Hotel. KLM employee recommanded you. Room at a high level. Very nice view over river and town. We loved the hotel shuttle boat. The swimmingpools very nice, especially in the garden. Personal at the pools very friendly. Overal impression al personel very nice and professional. Negative, the noise of the main airco system in the garden and the smell of the french fried oil around the pool. May 20, 2015
