Rated 3 out of 5 by Expensive for experience Building was undergoing renovations which in itself was not all that bad but staff was confused about rooms, rates, parking etc. Hotel is aso "pet friendly" which means they allow dogs in the rooms and if your lucky enough to get a room next to a barking dog - well good luck. Breakfast "buffet" is expensive and on our second day no fruit was set out - but the price was the same. Trains run next to building and can be noisy but not real bad. We stopped at a little store in the near buy mall and they mentioned most hotel guests end up there to save some money on chips and soda. However - it is in a great location with lots to do within walking distance and if you are lucky to get a room facing the city you'll have a great view. July 14, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Remodel Issues The hotel lobby was under renovation and the air fresheners used to cover up what I assumed to be the paint smell was overpowering and offensive. Undecided on whether or not I would recommend it or use it for a future stay. August 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Much Improved This hotel is much improved over my stay 2 years ago which was very disappointing. I was in a renovated room on the club level. It was very comfortable and setup perfectly for a business guest. The ladies in the Club Room were lovely particulary Rochelle and Marie. The only downside this trip were the bellmen. 3 stood around talking as I struggled with bags. The young female conceirage was very responsive. August 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Make sure you get a correct response. The location is wonderful. The room was nice, but the air conditioning never turned off. The staff was wonderful until we went to leave. We were told our parking would cost $21. Before we checked out, we asked if our car had to be removed from the parking lot at a certain time so we wouldn't incur any other fees. We were told that we had until 6 PM to move our car before we would begin incurring more fees. So we attended our daughter's soccer game at Highmark Stadium and when we went to leave the parking lot we were told we had to pay more than the $21. We were also told by the front desk staff that there was nothing they could do about it. First off, we did nothing wrong yet we were being penalized for misinformation that was given to us by a Sheraton front desk staff person. Totally unacceptable. Now we were being told that because we didn't use the in/out service we had to have our car out of the lot within 24 hours which of course had passed. We really want to come back to Pittsburgh, but this has soured our entire trip since it was the last thing that happened prior to us leaving. What ever happened to customer service?? There were a few other disappointments, but nothing that turned us off as much as this. August 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great location but in serious need of upgrades Station Square is a great location with lots to do. Restaurants and shopping really close by. Utilize the shuttle for going in to Pittsburgh to save money on parking. The drivers are really nice! The person who checked us in needs customer service skills as she was not helpful when we asked her questions, like we were a bother to her. I read reviews about the cost for the room and if your room is located by the elevator how loud it will be. That is no lie. Not much sleep for the 2 nights we stayed. Those rooms should be offered at a severe discount. I have stayed on beautiful oceanfront property cheaper. November 14, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointing Bring back the Sheraton BEFORE it was remodeled! Then -- you were focused on the guest; now you are focused on telling the guest that the hotel has been completely (or at least almost completely) updated. August 23, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Could be improved by addressing issues like these This is a decent hotel, and could even be a good one, but there are some problems in its management that need to be addressed. First the wireless internet system is not up to standards that one would expect. It is slow, and once you get signed into the network for 24 hours of free usage, it often won't let you access the network again if you ever disconnect from it. Secondly, the staff aren't quick enough at taking care of things. The first night I got there, I called the front desk about the desk lamp not having a bulb in it. They said they'd send an engineer to address the problem right away. The engineer never showed up, and the problem was still unresolved when I checked out three days later. Take care of little things like this, and the guest experience would be much improved. May 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality of room Upgrades of the rooms is well done August 22, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Need Better sound-proofing I was a guest for one night. The hotel & room overall were great. However, when I prepared to use the shower, I realized it had not been thoroughly cleaned......the previous guest(s) used bar soap & shower gel were still in the holder. I was fortunate to get a room with a magnificent view of downtown Pittsburgh, however, the nightly train runs were not my cup of tea. August 19, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This room was the worst part of my trip I'm not sure what I paid for. I guess if you reserve a suite, you receive complementary old food in the fridge. Perhaps the price included the beer caps littered through out the room. It also could have included the bed that was falling apart, or maybe the peeling wall paper. I wont even begin on the teenagers running the halls until after 4am, drunk. I will never stay in this hotel again. I hope people read this and don't make the same mistake I did. Stay away from this overpriced dump. Pittsburgh is a very walkable city, I'm sure there are better options than this. April 8, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Mixed emotions about the Hotel While the staff and local ammenities were spot on, the location and room was not. Station Square offers great dining experiences and views of the city however that would not be enough to compensate for the paper thin walls of the rooms and the proximity of the Train Tracks outside my window overlooking the river. I could hear every conversation being had in the hallway as well as the rooms adjacent to mine. The biggest deterrent is that the train runs at ALL times of the day which makes it extremely difficult to unwind and rest in the evening. We were told that the hotel was to undergo renovations, it is too late, this should have been thought of LONG ago. April 29, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by SPG should be ashamed of this property! This hotel is far below any SPG hotel that I have stayed at. We are in room 1223 - an SPG rewards room. The view is great, however, the room is substandard. The carpets are stained. The walls are marred with 12" long black streaks,. All of the furniture is worn. The bathroom tub tile is moldy and chipped. The white bed duvet/comforter is dirty, stained with ?. There are caked dust balls in the air conditioning vents. The phone handset/cradle is scary with grime. The wallpaper is peeling below the window. Plastic cups- really?? They are charging maximum points for minimal return. Not recommended if you are looking for quality. September 15, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by No clean wash clothes provided for second night Room was very nice and comfortable....but why were used towels/wash clothes removed without replacement? Check-in staff not particularly polite or accommodating. August 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very helpful staff, nice location This is our 4th trip to this hotel and always love it! very nice staff and helpful ! always go above and beyond to help! August 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall good service Our recent stay was very good and the room had just been remodeled. Very nice and clean. The breakfast buffet was fair. They are in definite need of improvement with the toaster situation. Only one toaster was working and the second one was actually removed and not replaced during our 3 day stay. I did not feel the process was very sanitary in obtaining bread and placing in toaster. Many bare hands were in the breadbox-no tongs available. The bread was too large for toaster therefore you had to flip it to toast both ends of the bread. We had an excellent dinner served to us during our event. Service was excellent. June 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Lousy Hotel My husband and I stayed at this location over the past weekend. We asked upon check-in for a river view room if available. The desk clerk asked if we would like to join the Starwood Rewards program and we said OK. She put us in a so-called river view room that actually was overlooking the construction in the adjoining parking lot. If you stood to the right on one foot you could catch a glimpse of the river. The first thing we noticed as we walked into the room was the wallpaper peeling off the walls. All of the furniture was really low to the ground. One chair in the entire room. We did not receive the room we had reserved. Instead we were put in a handicapped accessible king room. The hotel itself is in major need of repair/remodel. The carpet is stained and dirty. I'm surprised that Sheraton lets them keep their name. To top it off we had requested a quiet room away from noise and discovered we were right above a working railroad station with trains coming through all night long. Needless to say this was not the trip we had planned. We had no sleep at all. Good location for shopping/eating but lousy for a nice relaxing room at a Sheraton. The "free" shuttle was never available and we ended up spending $30 on taxi fare in addition to the parking charge because we were not familiar with the city. The shuttle driver was always running behind. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. October 22, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by DIRTY SHEETS THE FIRST ROOM WE CHECKED INTO HAD ALL KINDS OF LONG DARK HAIRS ALL OVER THE SHEETS. SO WE WERE GIVEN ANOTHER ROOM. AND BREAKFAST TO MAKE UP FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. THE 2ND ROOM HAD BLACK FUZZ ALL OVER THE WHITE SHEETS, I'M NOT SURE IF THE SHEETS HAD BEEN CHANGED SINCE THE LAST GUEST, OR IF YOU JUST HAVE REALLY BAD LAUNDRY SERVICE. IT WAS 10:30 AT NIGHT OUR DAUGHTER WAS TIRED AND WE HAD TO GET UP AT 6:00AM OR WE WOULD HAVE LEFT AND WENT TO ANOTHER HOTEL. WE WILL NOT BE RUSHING BACK TO SHERTON ANYTIME SOON. ALSO A SUITE IS SEPERATE ROOMS. THE BREAKFAST BUFFET WAS COLD, GOOD THING IT WAS N/C. 1 OF THE ELEVATORS WAS BROKEN. AND YOUR WALLS ARE PAPER THIN WE HAD TO LISTEN TO OUR NEIGHBORS ALL NIGHT. Rated 1 out of 5 by Not a Satisfied Customer I really hope this does not get erassed becuase it is hard for me to believe no one else has had a problem with this hotel. Here's my story - Upon our arrival my husband was very tired so he layed down on one of the beds in the room. I decided to do my nails before we went out sight seeing that night. Once I finished my nails my husband had spotted something under the chair in the room and asked me what it was. I got up to look and tried reaching for it but luckily my nails where wet so he said "just grab it with your feet." So as I did and it came from under the chair I saw that it was a Condom. I was so disgusted and immediately called to the front desk. My husband asked me to not make a lot of fuss to just tell them of our dissatisfaction from the finding and they would do the right thing. Well if giving us some snacks and 1 free breakfast was doing the right thing then sure we got it. But for us, I expected the hotel to do a full re-cleaning of the room or to offer us another room because this was disgusting. they did not do this, and so my husband again said this is a nice hotel and I am sure they are working on finding some way to really make it up to us. But no, we checked out, there was no other apology or comping us for any inconvenience or anything. We on the other hand had to go buy some lysol because I didn't feel the room was clean enough after that. I have continuously cleaned my clothes and bags upon arrival home, and I am still tired because of the lack of sleep because I was terrified I was going to find a bed bug or something crawling on me in the morning. I am one of those people who usually fight for what I deserve in cases like this but because my husband relied on his knowledge of the hotel chain, stating they would definitely find away to make it up to us, I felt like the hotel took advantage of us. I am always told that it does no good to fuss at people when something like this happens, but I see that being quiet and respectful has gotten us no justice either. If I had yelled and screamed I would of gotten better service, but because I was polite and nice I was treated with less respect. I feel as if I need to notify all my family and friends that if they choose to stay at this location or any Sheraton Hotel, and something like this were to happen you have to act a fool in order to get what you deserve. They could have really at least re-cleaned the room right away, but instead we were the least of their concerns. Sincerely, Dissatisfied Customer August 19, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Awful! Do not stay here! Most importantly DO NOT have an event here! I starting working with the Sheraton station Square one year in advance of my Labor Day weekend wedding. Thank God I did not have my wedding here, I only needed their services for my room block for my out of town guests. EVERYTHING was incorrect at check in. All of my over 25 guests rooms had at least one issue. Leading up to the wedding I worked with one woman at the hotel who would send me updated lists of my blocked reservations. She was very nice and always got back to me in a timely manner ( the only good experience that I had). Several mistakes occurred with the reservations throughout the year, but this woman fixed them all and gave me confirmation codes. However, when the guests checked in none of the mistakes were fixed. Some of my guests were even given the same room numbers! My husbands room was given to his brother so they put my husband up in a suite for the night. They never asked him for a cc number so I assumed they charged the room to my cc that I used to reserve the room. Upon check out I had to request to see a copy of my charges only to find out that they charged my father in law for the room instead. They would not switch the charges to my cc. When I called back later to speak with a manager they told me that they had no record of my husband ever staying in that room! Ha! The front desk at this hotel is moronic! I had welcome bags made that that were to e delivered to each guest room except for my husband's and I gave them specific instructions not to give him one. They charge you over $2 a bag to delivery them and they do not allow them to be given out at the front desk upon guest check-in. I understand that this is common at many hotels and I would be fine with this if my guests actually received their bags. Several rooms did not get bags and a bag was given to my husbands room despite me telling them not to. When I, the bride, called the front desk several times telling them what rooms still needed bags ( not my job), they said that they would be delivered. Needless to stay my guests still never got their bags and the hotel said " we delivered them all". So I believe some staff or other hotel guests enjoyed all of my goodie bags and read my personal information contained inside. I did receive refunds on the bag delivery fees and my husbands guest room. The Sheraton lost lot of money that weekend because their staff can not fulfill simple reservations that were made months in advance. The staff at the front desk even refused to look at my guests confirmation codes for their reservations. What is the point of getting a confirmation code if they won't use it?? It's a month later and I am still dealing with them! Do not stay here it will be a huge headache for you! September 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Thank you!!! We had our wedding reception at the Sheraton Station Square this past month. We had a large number of people in the hotel for about 4 days and everyone enjoyed themselves. Kelly and Amanda and everyone we came in contact with were amazingly helpful and responsive. The reception staff were also great and we keep hearing how great everything was, from the service to the food. Thanks so much for making our day special!! August 26, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Enjoyed my stay! This hotel was in proximity to so many venues and resturants. The location is on the river with lots of activities and fantastic views. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I truly enjoyed my stay. The only negeitive would be the railway that runs adjacent to the hotel. However, they do their best to time the train passing during wake hours. August 12, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed Rooms were dirty - carpet was filthy and wallpaper needed scrubbed. Workman started every morning at 7:00 AM and woke us up. Not sufficient staff at front desk waited in line twice. I think I was supposed to get a discount for the parking as a SPG member but I kept getting different answers from staff and received no discount. Rooms were booked together as one party but we were given rooms that were not even on the same floor. Acted like a discount hotel should have been a discounted rate. August 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by room in desperate need of renovation This is not a cheap hotel in terms of price. I was shocked, then, to have a hotel room that was dirty (stains on carpet, stains on wallpaper (especially in bathroom), pink stain on TV stand, brown stain in sink) and worn (notably scuffed furniture, peeling ceiling). It felt (and was) unclean. The one positive was the wonderful view from our room. In short, I cannot recommend this hotel. August 11, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Noise, dirt, bugs I can understand that the hotel had to do updating construction, however was it necessary to begin at 6:20 AM in the room directly above mine? The carpet in my room was terribly stained, and there were small bugs (fruit flies?) flying around both the room and bathroom. The carpets in the hotel hallways were never vacuumed and dirty. August 12, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Absolute worst experience EVER! Our stay was horrible. First room was dirty...second room was a business conference room with a fold up bed (definitely not the romantic room we reserved for our anniversary!) and the third room's bathroom and hall light did not work. Add to it that there was a very loud cargo train that passes within feet of the hotel...EVERY 15 MINUTES. Last insult to injury, the desk told us that the breakfast buffet was available until 12 noon on a Saturday. We arrived at 10:40 and it was already shut down to start setting up for a special event. All in all...the worst stay we have ever experienced. April 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by good I stay at this hotel every month. this trip the pool and hot tub were closed. I was not told this when i booked the room. I would have stay at another hotel with a working pool. My daughter was very upset. August 13, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Is this hotel going bankrupt? This was for a business trip. I really enjoyed the city of Pittsburgh but the last place I wanted to be at the end of the night was my hotel. I "purchased" a club floor room and even with my gold status and purchasing of the club floor I was put on a floor far away from the club. I asked and was told there weren't any available - despite the fact that I purchased one. My room was dirty, the wall paper was coming off and the AC was not on (middle of summer). The clock was not working, nor was the phone by the desk. The refrigerator in the room was very loud and old. The maids the next day (after taking my tip and writing a thank you) left wet towels on my bed and on my desk. Certainly not where I left them. Room service was wrong twice and they were shocked when I wanted it replaced. The gym seemed fine. The area seemed fine but the staff and the cleanliness are not Starwood quality at all. I would have moved hotels if I had the time. I'm just happy I didn't have a trip that required more time "in the hotel" August 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Our Stay We were very pleased with our weekend stay at the Sheraton at Station Square, Pittsburgh, PA. When we made our reservfations we requested a river view room and that is just what we got. It was beautiful and will definitely ask for this view again on our next visit. August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Most Impressive The King Parlor room was the nicest room/suite I have had at any property in the last 3 years. From size to layout to decor it was most impressive at the Sheraton price point. August 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by baseball game I love staying here when we go to Pittsburgh for a baseball game because you can ride the Gateway Clipper boat to the game and back to the hotel for $10 - so much fun! August 11, 2014
