Rated 4 out of 5 by Positioning of Room Blocks We did have a great stay. One thing that would have been helpful would to have our team's "block of rooms" on the same floor. It occurred to me that the congestion of the elevators could be reduced if each team was on the same floor. I understand sometimes this is unavoidable but it is something that could be arranged and would have reduced the congestion of elevators and also keeping the kids all on one floor. As a parent I kept my son in sight all the time, for his safety, but I realize not all parents do. Having teams on separate floors would also assist your security in keeping traffic to a minimum. Rated 1 out of 5 by Unclean Room with Plumbing Problems I used to stay at this hotel when I would come to town but after my last experience I will not be going back. The bathtub didn't drain when I went to get in the shower before bed. I called the front desk to have someone come up. They sent a maintenance man who did something in the bathtub that created dirt and gunk in the drain. I cleaned it out and began to shower. Water backed up and wouldn't drain. I again called the front desk and they told me that they were full so they couldn't move me to a different room and that they wouldn't be able to do anything about the drain until the next day because the piece of equipment they would need to use was loud. Rated 5 out of 5 by Helpful front desk attendants Checked in late Sunday, room wasn't what had been described when I made reservation. The personnel at the front desk promptly found us a better room, met us at the new room with a set of keys. I appreciated the willingness to satisfy, and do so promptly. Then same gentleman gave me a great recommendation for a local restaurant. Well done on all counts! August 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fell Short of Past Visits Had to dicker with desk to obtain gold level upgrade. I'M Lifetime gold with long history of staying at this hotel. Ended up paying an addl $30 nite, another $150, to have upgraded room and Club amenities. Used to get this upgrade for no extra charge. The Club is open for brief periods only AM and early evening for nightly "hors d oueveres," Frid nite was cheese and crackers and some grapes. Didn't use other nites. Breakfast on par with most "free breakfast " at cheaper hotels. Lovely Club room, attendants excellent. 2 room "suite" is actually a small living room area, pull out couch, with door to large king size bed area BUT the bathroom is in bedroom which means a lot of door shutting, turning on lights etc. disturbing the king bed occupants. I would not pay for this "upgrade" again. Great locale, free parking/ airport shuttle, terrific driver took a bit of the sting out of what I paid in money and points. Used to be that gold level really meant something. Not any more. August 12, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Check-in Wife & I arrived early afternoon & checked in for both our room & room for daughter who was arriving later. Rooms 703 & 706. When daughter arrived at 2 am, she was told there were no rooms available. Your staff wanted to send her 30 mins away to another property. After lengthy delay, they finally got their room. Rated 3 out of 5 by Average hotel Matthew (Manager) was not responsive to my needs. He would not acknowledge me when I requested assistance. Additional charges were added to my credit card for food by the restaurant and drinks at the bar. It was eventually resolved. Kids were knocking on doors, playing on the elevators and running throughout the hotel during late night hours. I had to stay awake to monitor our athletes rooms until 2:00 am to prevent the group kids from waking them. I requested assistance to stop the activity and did not receive until 2 nights before my departure. There were not enough towels available. I don't think that the hotel was prepared for the large number of guest. I do not plan to return to this city and will not recommend the use of the Sheraton for large groups. I would like to say that the housekeepers were very helpful, courteous and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. August 7, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel was atypical of other Sheraton Hotels Facilities did not meet our expectations. Room needed to be updated. Carpet was loose and coming off the floor. Bathroom was dated, tub was old and needed to be replaced. Coffee in room was great - Starbucks. AC outlets were plentiful. Bed was comfy. Buffet breakfast had a great variety and food was good. Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel is very dirty A renovation is needed. Carpet stains all over, in room, in hallway, etc. Room had a sick sweet smell, like fermented peaches. Not at all pleasant. Bed was rock hard, and shower clogged up every day. Staff was pleasant. August 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable room, great food I always think of a Sheraton as an mid-upper end hotel. I was pleased with the staff and the food service. The room was fine, but the carpet in the halls needs to be replaced ,on the floor that I was on, and the towels were very scratchy. My first stay I was offered the 'green option' of no maid service in exchange for a voucher for breakfast + SPG points. The 2nd week I stayed the offer wasn't made. I asked about it and the front desk person said they would make the change, but it never happened. Overall the staff was accomodating and friendly and I would stay there again. But it needs new carpet and towels. September 2, 2012

Rated 3 out of 5 by rdw50702 Only negative was that it should not allow large aggressive dogs. On the same note pet owners should be more aware of their animals disposition so it doesn't ruin it for others that are responsible pet owners such as myself. I encounterd a couple of dogs with one owner that should not have been allowed as the dog moved towards me in an aggressive mannner until owner stopped them. Dogs of this nature put hotel customers in danger and the hotel at risk for the liability if the dog were to attack a young child or anyone for that matter. This matter was brought to the attention of the hotel securtiy / staff. June 3, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by good, except... I had called ahead to reserve adjoining rooms and was told to call back the day of check in. I did that and was told they were all taken. When we checked in we found out that our two rooms had a room between us. Fine expect it was adjoining to one of our reserved rooms! I called down and was able to have it changed so that we'd have the side-by-side rooms. Also, at check in we guaranteed our rooms with a credit card, but wanted to pay cash and told them so. They charged our rooms to the CC anyway which was a huge inconvenience to us. How ever the rooms are clean and well-kept and quiet. May 5, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Never stay here again Bathroom floor sticky and we had to get it mopped as our feet stuck to the floor, no retired veteran rates, no Big 10 Network, no free breakfast, floor to ceiling window kept the room cool to cold, had to walk around service cart left in hallway over 24 hours with dirty drain pan setting on top, no refrigerator in room, no free internet in the rooms. Disappointed as we get all these features in other Des Moines hotels for less or same dollars. They did have nice conference rooms, but if I have another conference at this hotel I will stay somewhere and drive to it everyday instead of staying here. January 27, 2014

Always clean and comfortable with a friendly staff who go the extra mile for customers. Their are lots of amenities and the hotel frequently updates the property to make your stay even better. Great location for reaching all of my clients, and located near several major highways. July 27, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Lack of Communication Reservation dates where 4/24 to 4/26. I arrived to the hotel around 11:30pm on 4/24 to find out the hotel was overbooked for that particular night though my reservation for the 25th was OK. The hotel put me up in another hotel that did not meet the same standards as the Sheraton. Then on the 25th, I arrived at the hotel around 11am needing to get into a room because I had a confidential call that I need to get on at 12pm. The person at the counter explained that check in wasn't until 3pm. This trip was a disaster due to delayed airlines and then the stay at the hotel put the cherry on the top. April 29, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Rate hike for a night We rented two suites for New Year's eve and my fist concern is the price was increased by $50 for that night only as near as I can tell. If there were high demand for the rooms I would get that, but the hotel was all but empty. We also went downstairs the next morning for the buffet and the waitress asked me if I had breakfast coupons. I asked how would I have obtained these coupons and she said I would have got them upon check in depending on which room I purchased. Apparently I must not have qualified as they were not offered to me. You would think that paying $100 extra for two suites that night in an empty hotel would surely include breakfast. Nope...paid a bunch more for that as well. January 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not in keeping with Sheraton standards Due to its location I understand why this hotel may not be the same quality as other Sheraton hotels I have stayed in. But that does not pardon poor customer service. When i returned from work I found my room had not been cleaned. So I called guest services who did not pick up the phone. So I walked down to guest services and was told they were very busy. I told them I would be leaving for dinner in an hour so they could have my room cleaned. An hour later I reminded them. When i returned after dinner two hours later the room had still not been cleaned. when the gentleman from housekeeping finally arrived I was asked if I wanted the whole room cleaned!!!. The rundown condition of the hotel may be overlooked with good customer service. June 12, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by One of the nicer hotels in West Des Moines, IA This is one of the nicer hotels in the West Des Moines, IA area. The staff is friendly ahd helpful. The rooms are above average as are most facilities. The location is pretty easy to find and not far from the interstate highway(s). I would stay here again in the future if/when I find myself back in the area. December 1, 2011
