Awesome stay! In December 2012, my friends and I had a disppointing stay at this property. The front desk manager asked us to give the propety another chance, which we did; and boy am I gald we did!
We had a wonderful stay; 2 of our 4 rooms had a great view of the St. Patty's day dyeing of the Chicago River green. What a fun day, and the prime location to boot!
While the hotel was very busy with St. Patty's day and the Big-10, the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was going good. Rene' in the club lounge and Brian at the front desk, went above and beyond adding a very personal touch to make the stay above and beyond all expectations.
We also had a wonderful meal at the steak house in the hotel; best steak I have ever had in a hotel property.
The only minor issue, and it was very minor, was that housekeeping did not replace soaps and shampoo's on the seond day; had enough to get by, but normally they are restocked each day.

As a gluten-free vegetarian, I know I'm difficult to feed.... but it was almost impossible to eat here, (and as it was for an event, not easy to leave the hotel and find food outside). "Shrimp salad without the shrimp" is about the only option. The french fries appear crusted with something that might be flour. While gluten-free may be a fad for many today, some of us truly have to avoid it for health reasons. (Don't bother with the GF chocolate cake, it tastes like glue.) (Not that I've ever eaten glue... )
Other than that, the hotel is within walking distance of Navy Pier and the center of Chicago's shopping district. It's a huge hotel, with lots of room for meetings and events--I was there for a conference--and the views from the rooms was great.
If you need a shower cap, bring your own (none in room).

I was there for a business conference in Nov 2014.
Pro: The meeting sites and conference space was very nice. Hotel location is very convenient and "safe" so I was able to access a lot of city things (i.e. Navy Pier, nightlife, restaurants, etc). via foot.
Con: The 'catering' (i.e. complementary drink service) was very ill-timed. I assume the hotel staff knew when the session breaks were, but they did not plan/restock in a timely fashion. The quality of the food (i.e. during receptions) was subpar for a hotel of this calibur. The room walls were kind of also thin and I heard movement/people outside my door/through the walls quite often.
Overall: The location of the hotel is nice, but the price of the room does not match the quality of the hotel rooms and food. I would've opted to stay at another hotel had I had the choice.

Everyone in this hotel was exceedinly helpful: front desk, Link Café, FedEx, Bistro, housekeeping, concierge. Everyone was available to "walk the extra mile" to help us.

I have stayed at this location on a number of locations and am always pleased with the front desk, concierge, club lounge and valet staff. They have upgraded me to ridiculously large suites with giantic lving room/meeting rooms almost every time I have been here. I have always been able to check in early. I often call for early housekeeping when I leave for an early meeting and at most hotels this does not work, but the Sheraton Chicago always complies with my request. The man that works in the Club Lounge (I wish I could remember his name - I think he said he was employee of the year last year) is SOOOO friendly and helpful. I mentioned to him that I would likely miss his nice dessert spread because I had a late meeting and he saved me three different desserts and brought them to me when I popped into the lounge an hour after dessert time ended. The location is great and the views of the lake are amazing. Definitely a Tumbs up. This is 100% a BUSINESS hotel. Not a trendy cool hotel with lots to do for families, but perfect for business travelers. Great rates are often available at the last minute.

I stayed at the hotel while attending a large conference at their conference center. The conference staff was excellent and the event ran smoothly. The rest of the hotel, however, seemed ill equipped to handle the volume of people present. The restaurants did not have food available to meet the capacity of demand during the short lunches. There were multiple issues with housekeeping in the rooms. Since this hotel IS advertised as a conference center, I would recommend bringing the hotel staff in line with the excellence of service provided at the conference center.

Overall excellent experience with comfort and relaxation. My only one area for improvement was lack of help in the gift shop. We needed to mail something urgently and were told they had stamps. The clerk in the shop was not helpful, did not have stamps and told us to go across town to the post office. Funny, on the day we left found FED EX right in the hotel, would have been nice for the Clerk to offer that suggestion as it was our first time there.

The fan in my bathroom didn't work.
It was hot in my room even with the Tstat turned down to 66.
Disappointed that some of the eating establishments weren't open during the day for conference attendees.

The lobby and guest rooms are gracious and comfortable, but the hotel's restaurant does not offer healthy or wel-prepared food and is not open for dinner. The only dinning option is the hotel's bar or Don Shula's, an overpriced and run-of-the-mill steak house.

I stay at this hotel almost every week yet I'm treated like a newcomer each time. The service at the front desk is usauly slow and very inconsistent, like they are just going through the motions. The rooms have been due for remodeling for a long, long time. I had a newly remodeled room on my last stay and was disappointed. Ultra bright lights, questionable decor, and 1/2 remodeled bathrooms. They missed a chance to really upgrade the property. The location is good and the amenities are nice. There are just some missed opportunities

Lets start with the things I liked:
1. Excellent room with a river view
2. Excellent food quality
Things I did not like:
1. I was offered to join Sheraton's "Go Green" program which I did - bad, very bad decision. I was explained that it means that my bed sheets will not be changed every day. One thing the hotel staff did not mention - my room won't be cleaned up AT ALL during the whole stay. So I ended up having a very expensive "coach-surfing" experience.
2. I consider that tips to the stuff should be given for great service, not on the demand. But I guess, that's that America is all about. Nevertheless, having asked to pay $10 (which was not communicated anywhere in prior e-mail correspondence) to get my UPS parcel, I did not expect to have on-demand request for a tip ('cause I think $10.00 is already a kind of a tip for $80 value parcel).
3. Long waiting list when I was checking-in. Only 1 person was at the desk. It took us like 20-25 min to get our room keys, which was also a bit strange comparing to other same-class hotels in Europe.

As a platinum member, i have found being lost among recently and not even being acknoledged at other Starwood properties. This is my fiourth time at the Chicago Sheraton and they welcomed me in advance via e-mail and maintained every expectation throughout my stay.

We have had consistently excellent experiences at Sheraton but this stay was really exceptional. We were traveling with an elderly parent and reserved a handicap accessible room. It was amazing. Every detail was considered in it's design. And the staff went out of their way helping us in and out of cabs, loading wheel chairs and walkers in and out of the trunk. Even the greeter in the restaurant made sure my mother had a seat as quickly as possible and was fussed over qppropriately. Thanks to all.

Rated 2 out of 5 Most disappointing stay in a great location
It started out upon check in, no room upgrades and club lounge was closed. The front desk check in was fine and a very friendly staff member checked us in. Since the lounge was closed, vouchers were given for the LINK and Java Bar - a nice touch (I thought).
The rooms were not upgraded, and not even on an SPG or club floor. The rooms were small, very low ceilings, and couldn't hardly even turn around in the bathroom. I did however notice the 3 long pieces of hair in the shower.....Simply Gross.
Upon pulling the sheets back, while they were clean, they were ripped.....Tacky at best.
The folio under the door was incorrect, I did not eat a can of pringels for $6.95 (99 cents at the store).
I went down to use the vouchers at the LINK. I got two salads, a sandwich, two pariffites, and two cups of coffee - $52.00 (according to the sign outside should have been $34.00. I was not given a receipt. When I questioned the clerk she said she gave me a receipt. Then she showed me two receipts (why two??) that did not have the items I ordered. I gave up and walked away.
Went up to Java Bar to use the other vouchers for 4 soda's. Was informed by the bartender he didn't open for 20 minutes, so he would not serve us! I was shocked. The housekeeping manager was standing there, and asked if he could help. I was very impressed it was not his department, but he got very involved very quickly. He called the front desk and had the overcharge from the LINK removed from my bill. Nice gesture on his part.
When I checked out, the front desk guy was very friendly and seemed upset when I informed him with all the issues we encountered on this stay. He removed the pringles from the bill, and verified the credit from the LINK overcharge. He asked if there was anything he could do or if he could call the general manager. I said no, what was the point, it was just a disappointing stay.
The front desk gentleman said he had noted my Platinum number and would bring my concerns forward to management. I told him I hoped my stay in March of 2013 would go smoother. I will give the hotel one more chance,.....stay tuned, I will report how the four rooms are in March of 2013.
This was a most disappointing stay. But to end on a positive note, the hotel is in a GREAT location. The place has potential - hopefully the property will take a hard look at itself and make the necessary changes.

Loved the location of this hotel, close to most landmarks in Chicago. Very comfortable and clean rooms, and bed was a delight. Quiet and beautiful decorations. Lobby's flower arrangements were exquisite!

This is my first of three stays this month. The front desk manager goes out of his way to make sure the stay is fantastic! I took my two young neices and parents on this trip. We had three connecting rooms with great views of the lake and river.
The staff exceed every expectation. My seven year old niece had a loose front tooth, and Zach at the front desk let her know he had the tooth fairy on call! While she didn't loose her tooth, she will never forget the experiences here.

Booked 2 rooms with double beds in advance - rooms were not available at 3pm check in. Finally at 5pm they got us into a room with King bed (not ideal when staying with friends) and made us late for our plans. Told other room would be available when we came back that night. Just as I predicted at 2am when we tried to get the room we were told they didnt have any. They offered us to go to another hotel and pay for our parking - which they cant do since they arent affiliated with self park.

Paid $60 more per night for Club floor and was extremely disappointed. Food at night was no where near expectations. Food in the morning was far below expectations. It was very clear that the set up was meant for the families that were staying in the hotel rather than for adults. I walked in for a cocktail on night and was told drinks were $10.25, not complimentary. Are you kidding me? I could go down stairs into the bar, and for $1 more have a better drink, with no kids running around.

I had a short stay here, and from what I have seen, I can thoroughly recommend this hotel. Despite a very late arrival, was given a cheerful welcome, nice upgrade and some nice complimentary sweets waiting in my room.
My room was a large suite, with a very comfortable bed and nice river views. The Club Lounge is very large and has spectacular views. Hotel location is spot on both for business and pleasure. To top it all, rates are very reasonable.
Will definitely stay again.

My first of two stays this month, and I must say this place has changed. The staff go above and beyond and made me feel most welcome - I loved the very personal touch of being greeted by name when checking in and throughout the stay.
I had a bad stay here last year and promised to give this property one more chance and boy am I glad I did. They have done a complete 180 and took the constructive criticism and put the luxury back into this hotel.

1st interaction was with rude valet service. There was no hotel directory so had to go to concierge desk for every question (couldn't be reached via phone). Asked for toothbrush from concierge desk & reception desk, both were out so said they would send one up, but never arrived. Was double-charged for room delivery, plus 18% gratuity that wasn't printed on menu. No perks or "extras" that have received at other Sheraton hotels. This hotel nickle & dimed us for EVERYTHING!

This hotel property is in need of a major facelift. Lobby area is fine but once you get past that, the hallways and rooms are well below standard vs. other Sheraton property. My room had filthy carpets, outdated bathroom with airvents that were disgusting and look like they never have been cleaned in years. The faceplate on the door latch was missing screws and falling off. Overall I am extremely disappointed in this property and for $200+ a night? TERRIBLE!!!!!

I will not stay at this hotel again. The staff at the check in desk looks and acts miserable. There is no room service for lunch. The grab & go for lunch didn't have food ready until 12:45pm. If you want a bottle of water you have to purchase it outside of the hotel or pay for the very expensive bottle in your room. The temp in my room never got below 72. I asked engineering to look at it and they never did.

Overall, this is a GREAT family hotel. We had a little girl who is almost 3 years old, and she loved the swimming pool, and the big lobby. The only downside we ran into is the late check in. Apparently the rooms are ALL sold out previous day, so when we arrived at 2pm, there is no open room available. We were put on the waiting list, and the front desk said he will call when the room becomes available. But we didn't get any phone calls. Eventually, we went to the front desk again at 4pm, we got a room. Wish there is a better way to alert the front desk to notify the guest when the room is available. My daughter got crunky since it is way pass her nap time.

I was extremely disappointed with the level of service and the condition. It was difficult to make contact with guest services by phone as well the condition of the room was poor. Peeling pain in the shower and the water pressure was terrible. The check in line was out the door.
When I contacted the consigere they said they was only 2 of them. Over all I would say the hotel was short staffed.
Even some of the washrooms were not working.
