Rated 4 out of 5 by Vern22 Great hotel, marvellous room , very odd Marketing
Had a great stay, wonderful room with a view of the narrows! Only marrred by your offer a couple of days prior to arriving of an upgrade to a club room for $5.00 per night or a Jr Suite for $45. I replied promptly that we'd go for the club class, obviously. We Get a curt response back, promptly that there were no rooms available. So why offer? Then when I questioned it at check in the girl very politely replied that, "Oh no problem, I can get you the club class service from your forth floor room for an additional $60 per night." -NOT! Just leaves a very sour taste to be offered a deal and then have it taken away.

1 night total $great. 2 days later $?
for 2 days. There should have been a
complimentary breakfast..Most staff were
welcoming but was disappointed with one in particular. We are not wealthy and I felt that
we were treated because??.
Sorry about the amount but it is important ,,it
is difficult to understand.

Great location for this hotel with nice staff to greet you. Rooms and beds are very comfortable and would stay here again. the quality of the breakfast could be improved as could the general knowledge of the concierge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Travel4Work2014 Very nice rooms, but very dry
I really liked the room I had and the people are very nice and friendly (as all Newfoundlanders) but I was often awaken in the middle of the night as my mouth and throat were too dry. The AC somehow sucks the air dry and it made sleeping difficult (at least for me).
If you suffer from this, please keep that in mind when staying at this hotel. There are some portable humidifier that could be helpfull.

Rated 2 out of 5 by unsatisfied11111 disappointing
I've stayed in this hotel a few times and was very disappointed. I had no WiFi in my room and when I complained about it, they said they were having problems. I was there 2 nights and it was not resolved.
The room next door was being cleaned at 11 15 pm which made sleep difficult due to the noise. Special request for no feather bedding due to allergies was not addressed despite it being on reservation and calling ahead to confirm this request. They came after I checked in to remove the feather bedding.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MAJAX Great Beds - Rest Needs Finesse
Great beds, linens and comfort - room service perfectly presented as ordered and right on time. Room with a view on renovated floor as requested so booking also went well. Areas needing improvement are:
- reception/check-in staff (evening)- not friendly at all, very disappointed in the lack of welcome - there was no rush at all the night of our check in but the 1st greeting received was "wait a minute..." and then simply "what's the name the reservation is under" - also no eye contact or small - huge disappointment and poor 1st impression for what should otherwise be a good stay
- air conditioning - we had a nice room with great beds and a good view (nice renovation by the way) but AC unit was so loud at night none of us could get a good solid sleep
- no fridge or security safe in the room - these really ought to be added as it is inconvenient for the guest and suggestive of a lower class of hotel - this was a surprise
- include more than one bar of soap please - hand/face soap needs to be separate
Some important notes:
- morning reception/checkin/out staff was very friendly and eager to assist with anything
- kudos to room service
- friendly housekeeping staff and the room was in great condition thanks to their efforts
- good location
- price is high considering check-in experience on 1st evening, AC noise, and lack of safe/minibar or fridge
- no information on SPG membership type, what it means and any benefits/inclusions on check in.
Once the internal renovations are complete we strongly recommend some exterior renovations to merge the building facade more appropriately to the surrounding area and traditional feel of downtown St. John's. The building's exterior is otherwise an eyesore - we like your great bed's and interior renovation and great location and wish to keep coming back - our comments are only meant to help improve your operation and ensure the Sheraton is always there for us when we need to return.

The front desk almost had me leave the hotel even with a reservation in the system.
The room had dirty carpet.
The toilet was sticking, running until I removed the tank cover, stuck my hand into the mold ladden tank, and reset the discharge valve. For the amont I paid, the stay did not merit it.

I always enjoy returning to this hotel. The harbour view is magnificent. Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you.
The Breakfasts were delicious.
Only negative was our dinner meals at the restaurant. Steaks were tough and over cooked. We were both very ill from a fish dinner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anduzy This hotel needs renovations
The bathroom was a disaster - old and dirty - not what I expect from a Sheraton. It was the last night of a one week trip in NFLD where we stayed at a variety of Inns and B&Bs, all of which were spotless and comfortable at minimum. It was surprising to be at the Sheraton where despite the room being very well decorated and comfortable and having a great view, the bathroom was a turnoff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SJNL Some Improvements Needed
The quality of food for the price is not warranted. $25 for room service breakfast (for one person) to which everything was cold, eggs were scrambled (asked for over easy), bacon had fish taste or something, toast cold, coffee cold. Only thing good on the plate was the watermelon. High price for a piece of watermelon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mcr24 hotel is a good spot to assist in your st johns holiday
nice hotel. biggest issue with this hotel is the smoking area. right in the way of travel for all guests as they make their way to the front door. gross smell and butts all over the ground. it would be much better if this was moved to the back of the hotel such that smoking is not promoted ahead of guest health and comfort and hotel aesthetics. smaller issue is similar to all shertons: no hotel guide in rooms as is the norm elsewhere.

Rated 2 out of 5 by VCardoso There is potential...
I specifically chose this hotel due to the Starwood guarantee. Unfortunately it did not meet the star-standards that it proports:
- I chose not to have daily linen changes, only to regret the decision when I noticed dried blood on the cover sheet on one of our beds.
- we had to remark that our lounge chair had unusual stains on the arm and cushion (which was turned over). While this was exchanged after we mentioned it, it should not have happened in the first place. It was disgusting and we just looked at the chair for the first half of our trip and not used it because of the vile state it was in. This is simply unacceptable.
- housekeeping only scratches the surface. The rooms were dusty; things that should be a given like replacing bath mat, coffee, cups, stirr-ers, etc. were not, and we had to call guest services for them to remedy what they'd forgotten. If we had ordered extra towels and had not used them, they'd be collected the next day and not replaced even though they were not in the tub as requested. Room service was a huge mistake- on our last morning at the Sheraton, we had a woman deliver a table much too big for the space and serve an obscene amount of really bad food. I decided not to say anything and no one contacted me even though that breakfast cost over $50 dollars- it should have been comped, but no one bothered to ask and we were rushing to get back home. We ate no more than one quarter of it, it was absolutely terrible. No one seemed to care we were platinum members- since we ordered flowers, wine and a fruit basket- there was no welcome gift even though I made mention of it.
Also, if you're going out on the limb of showing your pristine cleanliness and using white linens, don't stop at the duvet, make sure that the pillow casings and sheets look white; we were actually worried about bed buds considering the colours of the sheets and towels, not to mention, the lack of dusting and vacuuming in the rooms. I ate a "club level" granola bar, dropped a sliver of almond on the run to an outing and it remained for three days until I picked it up on the obvious spot on the runway between the beds and the bathroom. When we spend this much per night, we expect the four stars that you have earned and sadly, you did not measure up and if we have the occasion of recommending or returning, we will not choose this hotel. I was willing to pay for a perfect experience, and it was far less than that.
In a province like NL where you can't rely on the weather, you need to ensure your hotel is beyond reproach. So, in that vein, make sure that your housekeeping staff keep a hotel that is in-transition pristine, ensure your electronics like the TV have a picture, ensure that the flushometre is properly calibrated in the bathrooms, and ensure that folks generally get what they pay for. Asking them if they did might be a good idea too. I would not recommend this hotel after our stay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by breakfastshouldbefree Great housekeeping, not so great guest services staff
I called my first morning there to ask if there was continental breakfast for us (whatever was included in the room) and was told to go to the restaurant. we went, sat down and after we ate we were presented with a over $40 meal for two of us.....defninlty not worth the two slices of bacon andsome fruit that i had consumed. Your staff need to be able to tell people that there is no breakfast included with the hotel room when people call and ask specifically for the breakfast that is included with the room. i'm still a little tiffed that i had to spend over $40 on breakfast at your hotel... no hotle breakfast shoudl cost that much. period.

My stay was good and the room is very comfortable, however I had a few issues. The shower valve was broken. The sink plug was stuck and could not be open. The TV remote did not operate properly. I don't expect to find this kind of problems in a Sheraton.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChezCheri Great proximity to St. John's Nightlife & Restaurants
I recently stayed at the Sheraton St. John's and had a very nice experience. The beds are quite comfortable, and the A/C works great. I left the fan on for white noise and slept really well. The room set up is a bit awkward with two big easy chairs stuffed into a corner, but I had a view of the water and Signal Hill, so no complaints there. The rack in the closet is low and it is kind of hard to get the hangers on and off, and my floor-length maxi dress sagged in a heap because of the low position of the rod. All in all, I would give it 3+ stars. The restaurant is beautiful and the meeting space is nicely done and comfortable. The food was a balance of OK and great, for example the donuts at the break were OK, and the fried dough with toppings was great. I would definitely recommend for a business meeting, or for personal use as it is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and nightlife.

I was never able to get into my room most of the time because the door lock never worked. I had to run up and down to the lobby several times and wait for up to 1 hour to get into my room. The air vent in the bathroom was filthy and probably never cleaned in the last year. Filth was actually coming out of the vent. Furniture moved during night, not able to sleep. I can continue onward with several other issues but by now you get the point.

My sister and I were in St John's for a wedding and this hotel was recommended. The hotel was clean and well kept with the exception of the carpet in our room. It looked dirty and in some need of some TLC. The beds and linens were comfortable The bathroom was clean and the shower had a great shower head and excellent water pressure. We had breakfast at the restaurant on two mornings and it was excellent The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't swim in the pool but we checked it out and it looked nice, clean and well maintained .The hotel is in a good location within walking distance to shopping and great little restaurants on Water street. While I didn't find the hotel a high end sheraton, it was a clean, spacious, well, kept. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting St John's

Rated 3 out of 5 by Daloris If not for the view we would have gone to another hotel
While the view of the Narrows and Signal Hill - along with room service dinner - was wonderful, I was tremendously disappointed in the cleanliness of the room and the inconsistencies in the in-room items. The night we arrived I cleaned the toilet myself before using it. Regarding in-room beverages it was explained there was a shortage of regular coffee, but when some did finally appear (1 of 4 days), there was only one packet of sugar and no creamer/whitener. Two days there was bottled water left, two days there was not - we never knew what to expect. And to top it all off, starting at 11 pm one night we had two dogs in the adjacent room barking at us. Not what one would expect from a hotel of this caliber or a room of that price.
