Rated 3 out of 5 by Great location, hotel showing age Great service, hotel was nicely decorated, loved the lounge on 11. But the physical property has some problems. Paper-thin door to the bathroom that was warped and didn't close well. The door to the living room was also warped and it got stuck closed. Biggest problem: room was stuffy, and no matter how much we turned down thermostat, it didn't help. So, no matter how nice everything else was, it couldn't overcome the uncomfortable room. Rated 3 out of 5 by Best Wishes Sheraton Chicago O'Hare Airport Since my tenure in the Airline Industry with a few jobs over two decades, I have always enjoyed SPG/Starwood Hotels for my personal needs. The Sheraton Chicago O'Hare Airport (former Sheraton Gateway) was one of the best properties I have been to in terms of quality, ambience & food. Even formal preparations and check-in were usually enjoyable there! Unfortunately this specific stay was "riddled with holes" of unusual difficulties which were disappointing for the first time. I wish you better in the future Sheraton O'Hare! Thank you! May 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Would definitely come back. Shuttle was waiting when I arrived at O'hare. Staff was helpful. Room was recently renovated and very nice. Full living area and separate bedroom. Club lounge was a nice place for a meeting with breakfast in the morning, Free beer and wine in the club would have been nice. No thermostat in the room and early noise from the renovation woke me up so I docked a star. Otherwise highly recommended, especially after the renovation is done. March 3, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Uncomfortable The hotel and rooms are visually is nice. But we had issues with the air conditioning in the rooms. Had to move rooms after complaining. Which still didn't help other than be inconvienced in playing musical rooms. Didn't know that on site parking includes parking structure almost 2 blocks down on a NOT well lit street. Just a VERY uncomfortable stay while on a girls weekend vacation. August 8, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by hotel nice Food AWFUL I like the hotel but the Food is AWFUL eat next door at McDonalds it is 100 times better and I hate McDonalds. Harry Carry and Nicks Fish House is great but expensive but food is so much better across the street at the Shoeless Joes and the Mom n Pop Restaurant. They need to invest in a better chef at the hotel. September 6, 2013

I had bad timing on arrival where a large group was ahead of me. There was no delineation from the standard and Gold/Platinum line. September 26, 2013

There was no noise from the airport but inside our room the noise from the other rooms plus the noise from the lobby and club area was HORRIBLE! We were so tired but could not get to sleep because of the noise. June 6, 2012

Every employee greets you with a smile and deals with everyting without a hassle. The food is a great value and I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to stay in this area. March 15, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Nicely Appointed Hotel, Very Busy, Internet Questionable This is a great facility, waited a bit too long in line for check-in (SPG Gold/Platinum Line), I did receive a very nice room upgrade and the views from the Club lounge were quite enjoyable. The internet did not initially work, I had to be passed through from the hotel to the Internet Provider and spent 30 mins on the phone. They had to somehow "manually" force my IP addresses through. Not acceptable, last thing I needed upon arrival. May 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very spacious room. We really liked the room with enough room to work and lounge and the bed was very comfortable. Always enjoy when a room has a separate sitting area. I was able to listen to a webinar while my husband watched tv with no problems. One thing I would suggest is a booklet explaining the hotel and the room. We had no idea there was a restaurant in the lobby until we stumbled on it while leaving to get a cab- to a restaurant. When the staff brought a little booklet it didn't cover much including area restaurants, who delivers, how to get the internet. It is also annoying to me that the internet isn't free in the room, makes it hard to do work. November 25, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing Stay - Trying other Sheratons I am a regular at this property, my last stay was fraught with numerous issues, if I had not known better, I would have thought I was in a Seinfeld episode! I arrived and was promptly checked in, although no mention of being a platinum member nor was I asked about amenities. I was promptly provided a parking pass and my key to the room. When I arrived on my floor, the key was not activated. I had to go downstairs and had to wait in line as there was only one person on the desk and had to wait in line again to get my key activated. I proceeded to my room, once again to drop off my luggage and head to the lounge for some water bottles and then head downtown to a meeting. When I got to the lounge the key was not activated for the lounge and lo and behold, i had to go downstairs again to get this corrected. No apologies, no mention of correction, nothing and again I need to wait in line and asked for ID from the same person who served me prior! I then headed to my car in the parking lot and proceeded to insert my ticket and again, not activated. I have to go stand in line again!! This time I had to wait 15-20 minutes and there was a line forming behind me and only one person at the desk!! This was the worst experience I have ever had at this hotel and I am a fairly regular client staying at least 2-3 nights per week, twice a month. Each and every visit, I am asked if I have been at the property before.....it's embarrassing! October 1, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I'm a Platinum business traveler and was EXTREMELY disappointed in this property!! My husband and I arrived near 11pm after flying in from a long International flight and had several pieces of luggage as we had been out of the country for a month and had just gotten married. We arrived to the hotel and the bellman as well as the front desk attendant would not even come to help hold the door open for us so we could get the luggage trolley through the door. I had to shout out to her to ask for assistance as she stood there looking at us! We had not yet eaten dinner and I asked if she would be kind enough to call ahead to in- room dining before they closed so we could have something to eat and thankfully she did. After checking in the bellman watched me struggle as I tried to get the luggage trolley pushed toward the elevator and did not even offer to help me, he just simply commented, " Do you have it?" I was furious and disgusted by him even making a comment like that. I have been staying at Starwood properties for years and as a Platinum guest this was by far the worset experience I have ever encountered. We had a red eye flight out the next morning and I had to shout back to the look for a front desk attendant to find out when the shuttle driver would be arriving.. Aside from the evening front desk attendant making sure we had food ordered because I had asked if she would do that for us due to the kitchen closing and still having to haul our luggage up to the room and unload the trolley so we could eat dinner before the in- room dining closed, the experience at this property was terrible. There are several other hotels in close proximity to O' Hare and I will not be staying here ever again! November 1, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Some Improvement Needed My recent stay at the Sheraton Chicago O'Hare was merely ok. Here are some of the main things any hotel should focus on, that also need improvement at this location. #1 The beds were uncomfortable, not due to the mattress itself necessarily, but due to the inappropriate use of linens...NO hotel should ever use a flimsy mattress pad that doesn't attach to the mattress, as in, no straps! Just a flat blanket like thing that, yes, gets all bunched up and lumpy throughout the night, especially when housekeeping is using flat sheets in place of fitted sheets! Isn't this hotel sacrilege? If it's not, it should be! The Bed is the #1 thing NOT to skimp on in any way. Period. I don't care how good room service food is or how smiley the staff is. Those things won't wake me up in the morning with a full night of restful sleep behind me. #2 The elevators are in desperate need of replacement. The hotel may look refreshed and updated inside but the minute you step into one of its creaky, outdated elevators you're immediately reminded that a mere face lift doesn't fix the one big issue; age! #3 If parking is going to be first come, first served due to the size of the lot then no one should have to pay per night for it. We were severely inconvenienced one night upon returning to the hotel, finding both lots full. We had a tight schedule and needed to park right away, not wait for someone to leave or be told to park off property. It subsequently made us late for our next obligation. Overall, the room layout was great. Having separated bedroom and living room areas gave us our space when needed and the in-room wet bar with fridge was great as well. One gripe, the in-room desk had no power outlets. One was available in the wall far away from the desk itself but that was it. We found we were charging our electronics near sinks...NOT good. The staff was very friendly and helpful and seemed knowledgeable, except for one concierge who misinformed us that the nearby Ikea store was 10 minutes away. (GPS said more like 30 minutes). Rated 5 out of 5 by Have your wedding reception here! I just had my reception here at the end of July and LOVED it. The ballroom was recently renovated and looks very nice, if a little plain. However when you turn the lights down and have candles lit and all the decorations and centerpieces, it’s gorgeous, I promise! The chairs are very comfy, too, even for larger guests. We had 14 tables (8-10 people) plus a head table and the room looked comfortably full. You could definitely fit more than that without feeling crowded (or have less and still not look empty). Beka, the event coordinator, was fantastic. She responded to every email promptly, even giving suggestions for when/how to do things. We gave her all of the place cards, table runners, centerpieces and everything before we left for the ceremony and she set up everything for us so it was perfect when we arrived. I can’t say enough about how helpful Beka was throughout this whole process. During the reception she was on hand to handle any problems, and the rest of the staff was also super helpful (like when my matron of honor ran out to request they start serving food immediately because I could tell the speeches were going to get long, they immediately brought out the soup! Or like when my mom wanted a drink right after the bar closed for dinner and the waitress brought her a glass!). They stored our flowers in the fridge the night before the ceremony for us, and brought us mimosas the morning of the wedding! The Sheraton offers package deals which include dinner, open bar, cake, and overnight hotel stays. It was so worth it to do this package and not have to deal with all the separate vendors! We got the less expensive package, but then added hot appetizers to it and it fit our needs well. My guests complimented the dinner—which the staff worked with us on to provide a yummy vegetarian option for (since I’m a vegetarian); we weren’t limited in the number of meal options either, which was great. (Some guests also had dinner at the restaurant the night before and the next morning and said it was great—the breakfast buffet in the morning struck me as a little pricey, though, and one guest said he found a complimentary continental breakfast on a different floor, which would be worth clarifying.) The bar was great, although the beer selection was a little limited. The cake was from Oak Mill Bakery and was beautiful!!!! (You do have to go to the bakery separately to choose your cake, even though it’s included in the price.) The only problem we had was with the room block for our out of town guests. Since we didn’t give the hotel an estimate of how many rooms we would need in the block, they started it small and said they would add rooms when it filled up. Except they didn’t. We had to call/email three different times in order to ask them to add rooms so people could get the wedding rate. (One desk clerk told a cousin she’d have to switch rooms halfway through the weekend because there weren’t enough rooms left in the block!) Once we contacted them, they always took care of it right away, though, so a very minor glitch in my book—and one that can be solved by giving a better estimate of how many rooms you need from the start. They gave the wedding rate for 3 nights before and after, and they waived the parking fee as part of the event package! You should take pictures in the hotel lobby too—It’s so cute, with cozy couches and lampposts! The rooms were all very nice. Soft, comfy beds. Each room is a suite, so there was plenty of room for us to get ready for the church at the hotel—the photographer and hairdresser and all of us girls fit just fine! So many good things I could say about this place. I hope you choose them! And wherever you go, I would recommend getting a package deal like this, since (not having a wedding planner), it made my life so much simpler, having everything basically go through one person. We had our ceremony in the city at 5pm on a Saturday, so getting into the city from the hotel took a while. But after the ceremony traffic just flew and our guests were able to make it back very quickly. August 8, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall pleasant experience The hotel was very convenient to access and getting from rooms to meeting places was also very convenient. I think it was a great location for the conference I attended. My only disappointment was the food. During the evening reception, grapes ran out before I could get to them. At the restaurant, I tried to order something without bread or milk and besides a Caesar salad had difficulty. Settled on a risotto dish that was far too cheesy. The tomato wraps with avocado were wonderful (even if not gluten-free). Still, I'd definitely stay at the Sheraton again because the facility was so nice and the staff so friendly. April 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by they replaced the pool with a banquet room I have stayed here before with my family and while it was nothing special, there was decent room (its all suite - rebranded from an all suite brand). When i got there i was amazed to find that they had taken out the pool and put in a fairly dingy banquet center. massive diasppointment for the family. There are other properties all around which have a pool. Also TV remote and wireless handset on phone didn't work. if i was there on my own perhaps i would consider it. Probably not. With a family - not a chance. Positive note the person servicing the room did a great job and went out of their way. i was impressed tehre. July 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by comfortable and clean room though the room was great and clean, the food was not that good. the first morning we ate in the club lounge. there was only 1 hot item, tiny rolls with very little bacon egg and cheese on them. so the next morning we paid full price to eat downstairs and all were very disappointed with spending that much money for eggs and sausage, bacon and a couple of other items. no waffles or biscuits and gravy. not as much as I have seen with most continental breakfasts. very disappointing, we should have went out for breakfast and saved a ton of money. thanks to housekeeping they did a great job as did the front desk. Rated 5 out of 5 by A surprise at O'Hare When we booked this hotel I was skeptical since it is at a major airport. However, the exceptionalism of this Sheraton has convinced me to stay here again on my next trip to Chicago. This Sheraton is well maintained, very clean, with excellent food and amenities. The fitness center is much better than your usual hotel health club. The shuttle service to/from O'Hare is frequent and on time. **Note: Ramiro, one of the shuttle drivers, not only provided great shuttle service, but also enhanced our Chicago visit with his Chicago area expertise. He guided us on a memorable trip with his advice on restaurants, sights, shopping, and museums. He is an exceptional assett for this hotel. November 6, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Wait until Renovation is over Stayed here one night January 2012. Started by waiting for over 45 minutes for the shuttle bus from O'hare (every other bus picked up 2 or 3 times by the time the Sheraton arrived). Major renovation going on at this hotel. Entire lobby and atrium is blocked off by black plastic as it is gutted to concrete slab. I believe some of the rooms have been renovated. But most have not and they are about 8 years past due. Many people who were staying more than one night were checking out to go somewhere else. Staff seemed very disenterested and extremely slow. As a part of the renovation they have set up some type of ventialation system which involved most ot the out side windows on one floor being open with plastic tubes hanging out making a constant and very loud flapping sound. Honestly should have just shut down this property while they renovate. Very bad brand experience. January 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful hotel with outstanding staff!! I have been staying here for work for the last 6+ years. I cannot say enough about how everyone makes you feel welcome. A special call-out to the front desk - Narda and Sue! Also, Rey and Danny are the best drivers and concierge staff you will ever find in a hotel. Johann came to my rescue and fixed my clock and was fabulous and so courteous and pleasant. Mario and Jim take care of us at the bar and Colleen and Maria make coming to the restaurant a pleasure. From Tim, the GM to Brandon in Sales, my stays are always top-notch!! Wouldn't stay any where else!! Congratulations on a great team!! February 22, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disgusting Hotel The hotel was terrible - rooms were cheaply furnished and dirty. Beds were disgusting - I almost wished I had one of those lights to view the bedspread. The staff was very friendly except for someone apparently in security who roamed the hotel and asked me THREE times in one day if I was a guest at the hotel. There were no electrical outlets in the room - I had to buy an extension cord. AND when it was pouring rain they parked the empty shuttle in under the overhang in front so guests coming in had to unload in the rain. The front desk staff was delightful - they should look for other jobs. May 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Thanks I booked this room for my girlfriend because she missed her flight at O'hare. I paid for it using my credit card and I wasn't there. The reservations gave me some prices and I asked if they had any specials. They had a pre-paid rate. Saved $20. They took my cc number and said to call the front desk. I had to electronically fill out an authorization card so I could pay for my girlfriends room without being there. The staff was busy so it took a while but they got it to me. When my girlfriend arrived, the staff greeted her and she had NO PROBLEMS!! Thanks to the front desk staff!! You rock November 21, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bad experience It was freezing out and the bus shuttle was not showing up at O'Hare, so I had to take a taxi to the hotel. This was the second time that's happened, both times were between 11 PM to Midnight. I had a very early wake up call which never came. Luckily I woke up on my own and rushed to get on the shuttle in time to make my flight. I didnt have time to stop at the desk and let them know about the wake up call. That's also happened to me before at this hotel. If I stay here again, I'll set my phone alarm just in case. March 12, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Great room near the airport The room I stayed in at this hotel was great! I could tell that everything had been recently renovated and it felt very comfortable and clean. Great place to sleep near the airport - with the rental car return right across the street. Very convenient for me as I was leaving on an early morning flight. The restaurant was the main detractor for this property. The seating is in the center of a large atrium, which ended up feeling very cold and unwelcoming. I decided to have room service instead. I also had a problem with the internet service. I could connect, but then nothing would work. It wasn't crucial, so I didn't report the issue. All the staff I interacted with were quite pleasant. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent I highly recommend this hotel. I was stranded in Chicago for the night and decided to stay at this hotel. As a platinum member, I was used my Starwood points and was able to relax in comfort at this hotel. Hamid, the General Manager, was courteous, professional, and very patient. I really appreciate his service and commend him for doing an excellent job while he was managing the desk by himself on a chaotic night. He booked me a room on the 11th floor with access to the Club Lounge. This is an example of excellent service and I recommend all guests to consider this hotel. February 26, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not able to sleep all night due to heater & no Platinum breakfast offered So my spouse and I stayed here 12/29 -12/30. We had settled in and after a while, late at nite of course, there was a loud sound coming from the wall. We didn't sleep much that night and did advise front desk while checking out. We were told we would get extra points for the inconvienience (don't remember the amount). Also we asked about us being offered breakfast since I was a Platinum member and were told that was not included and we were not eligible. Worst service I've received at a Sheraton and am not happy. Will be contacting SPG corporate directly. December 30, 2013
