Rated 5 out of 5 by Mag878 Weekend Escape
Sheraton hotels are excellently represented by this property in Palo Alto. We have racked up four stays under our SPG account here. Each room we have stayed in is very clean, spacious and recently remodeled. The lavatories are well lit and allow enough space to get started for the day without interrupting others in the room. We’ve started many mornings off with prompt and personalized room service on the balcony overlooking its courtyard full of lush gardens, a babbling brook leading to the pond filled with Koi, all opening to a row of cushy lounge chairs surrounding a rejuvenating pool. Did I mention it’s next to the main restaurant and bar where one can sip drinks with fellow guests until moonrise, or dine al fresco at their Sunday brunch buffet? We love this location especially because it is quietly nestled between Stanford shopping center; located just across the street. Staying on University avenue allows one to walk around the plethora of shopping, café dining, or just enjoy the beautiful neighborhood of old faculty homes. Though the Hotel provides excellent dining, it does provide a refrigerator for all the organic goodies one can pick up at the local market. This comes in handy after using the indoor exercise room. Don’t forget to utilize the ample covered parking around back if needed, and the friendly staff who are there to aid around the clock. So if you are looking for that weekend getaway, stop off between travels, or planning an event please call upon the Sheraton Hotel Palo Alto!

Rated 2 out of 5 by jackie2001 poorly maintained and operated
while the staff is very courteous and tries to be very helpful, the accommodations are often not clean and the hotel routinely makes mistakes such as 1) sent to room with keys not working, 2) sent to a room that already had an occupant, 3) not crediting SPG points and awards, and 4) not emailing hotel bill summary upon checkout.

Rated 1 out of 5 by hotdog75 Worst experience I've had in years
Checked in at 3am due to delayed flight. Clerk barely said a word to me, did not acknowledge Gold status, just gave me keys to a room on the 1st floor. I prefer higher floor but ok, it's 3am and I'm exhausted. I get to room and it's a handicapped room - I hate those, creeps me out. But ok I'm exhausted. Warm and stuffy, I try to turn on a/c. Nothing. not even fan. so I'm angry at this point but also dead tired, I've already unpacked, and do not feel like having to trade rooms (it's almost 3:30am by this point). So I'm laying in my warm, stuffy, 1st floor, handicapped room and want to watch TV for a few minutes, and you guessed it - TV doesn't work/tv would be on for a few seconds then pic goes away, then comes back/then goes away. I gave up, exhausted, got 5 hours sleep, woke up and left. Final insult - I did not get my folio emailed to me so now I have to chase it down.
I stay 150 nights a year in hotels - this is by far my worst experience in years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Stormcrow Rooms are outdated
In this day and age, hotel rooms really need to have plentiful and easy-to-access power plugs for people to use their laptops, chargers, and other techie gadgets. My room required me to unplug items like lamps or the coffee maker in order to use my own equipment. One outlet was oddly bent into the wall and a normal plug actually would not stay securely into it. When I looked under the bed to see just how they had gotten two bedside lamps and an alarm clock plugged in, I noticed a sketchy extension cord bridging the power gap.
On another note, the $10/day in-room wifi access turned out to be basically unusable, it was so slow. I ran tests with an internet speed tester, and it was slower than old-school dialup. To the hotel's credit, they refunded the charge when I asked them to.
The front desk services were prompt, helpful and courteous, and they were the only reason I would not rate this hotel stay much lower. I don't really think this should qualify as a 3-star hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BillV BEWARE!!!!!!!
we've stayed here for the last few years, however, for our most recent visit (Feb 2012) we found out that they no longer offer pay-for-view movies in the rooms...sounds silly, however, we love nothing more that to crash late at night and watch movies, often ones that are still in the theaters...very disappointed

Rated 3 out of 5 by Stockman Cutting corners: no shower cap amenity in room
I have gone to making a quick judgement about a hotel's care for their customer. If they do not routinely provide a shower cap in the standard in-room amenities, they start with negative points. Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel starts with negative points.
In addition, no upscale dining room in the property.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EB417 A great place to stay
We were in Palo Alto last week to attend a wedding. We had never been there before but had stayed at Sheraton Hotels in the past and decided to do so again. Upon arrival we were greeted with courtesy and warmth that set the tone for the rest of our visit. The hotel staff at all levels of contact were professional, courteous and approachable. The room was very comfortable and well maintained. We ate several meals in the hotel and enjoyed them tremendously. We will continue to look to Sheraton as our first choice when we travel and we would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Adam Nice Hotel...nice pool
I've stayed at the hotel several times on business and with my family. If you want to stay in Palo Alto, it is very conveniently located.
The place is clean. The people are super. The grounds are attractive and they have a nice pool.
The rooms are well kept and the beds are comfortable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by GS90802 Old style and shows
This is an old hotel, and every where you walk, it shows. Compare this to the Westin next door, and it is night and day.
The food was terrible, like a motel 6. The shrimp was frozen and microwaved, and had to give it back, not edible, and the breakfast buffet could have been at a Dennys.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Kat1 worst SPG hotel I ever stayed at
I was very disappointed in this hotel. The hotel does not measure up to other Sheratons. It was very aged and not clean. Also the internet did not work as it was so jammed with users or not strong enough. The hotel refused to credit me back for this.
The staff was friendly and helpful.

I was given a handicap room (not per my request). The room was small/crowded. The room had a double bed, not a king size bed. The AC unit was noisy. And the noise from the train didn't help. Room 1055.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Roberto28 Hotel is old, smelly and has noisy heaters
Furniture is old and outdated, room was smelly - may have been a smoking room in the past now converted to non-smoking - and heating system is antiquated and very noisy interrupting my sleep every 30-40 minutes... Overall a terrible experience for the $1000 spend for two nights!

Rated 2 out of 5 by NBryan Disappointed in management
On our rare and much anticipated weekend get-away we were awoken at 5:50am with a fire alarm that continued for 15 minutes at ear piercing decibels. Our night's sleep was rudely interrupted and prematurely over! The front desk told us it was a false alarm and to stay in our room.
I was extremely disappointed that no one ever followed up with an explanation of what went wrong or an apology for the disturbance. Good management would have shown more concern for the customer!

Rated 3 out of 5 by JVF70 Great Staff
We had a problem with our booking (my fault) but the manager helped to get us a room anyway (during the Stanford/U of Oregon football game weekend!) and was helpful and more importantly cheerful. I love the service at this place, you can't go wrong at this hotel....

First time to stay at a Sheraton. My room was located around the corner from the elevator so I thought I would hear noise during the night. It was actually a quiet and comfortable room. The hotel was well populated that weekend too. The food was very good as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Wilson89 Needs renovation
Great location but worn and needs renovation. New paint and carpet in halls would help a lot. Plus, stop charging for WIFI !!It It looks like an old motel that Sheraton bought and fixed up a long time ago. Staff is excellent. Prices are high, due to location.

Book early. This is the best place to stay. Close to campus and bar that has indoor and outdoor areas.
Parking is a little bit of a hassle but workable if you are staying in the hotel.
However, paying $9.99 per day for internet SUCKS.

charged for in this class of hotel. There a few things that need to be updated in the room.
Noise level in my room was more than normal do to mechanical equipment for the elevator.

I forgot to mention about my recent stay from June 24-27.
1. Key cards would not let me out of the parking lot 2 days in a row.
2. My receipt was emailed to another employee of our district; how does that happen???

Rated 2 out of 5 by idmat Large, old-school chain hotel with confusing layout
There is nothing much to actively like about the Sheraton Palo Alto. The rooms are spacious and adequate, though everything is infused with a sickly sweet scent--I found it to be disturbing when I was in the room, and when I opened my suitcase on returning home, was met with a blast of it. Yuck. Happily, my room had a patio, so I could (after some struggle) open the patio doors to the max, and get some real air.
The layout is byzantine, and the wayfinding signs are just stupid--many have arrows pointing straight down, as if they were describing rooms on a lower floor. Use left and right, people.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MsKMY Not impressed
Highly priced for what you get. My guess is this is because of the location as the hotel itself was just fair. Employees were nice, and helpful. The walls are thin. I had to sleep with the fan on so as to not hear the trains going right near the back parking lot. I was insulted that they had Starwood Preferred reserved guest rooms marked, and the rest were apparently "non-preferred" rooms, which happened to be on the side of the train.
