Rated 5 out of 5 by Chief HR Officer The room was great and everything in the hotel was very nice. Couple of small concerns: day of departure, housecleaning walked in the room at 9am without knocking first. Did not like that and informed him that we had a 2pm check out. November 12, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Ok but certainly not great. It felt like "just a hotel" from the check in process to the check out process. I was only staying for a night on business but when I checked in the mention of Platinum level was "thanks for being SPG". I'm not sure if they didn't have any rewards or upgrades to offer at the time as they appeared to have a large conference going on that week. Your experience might be better. I did let them know about their television not working properly - had to turn it on/off 12 times to get a digital signal instead of a fuzzy picture. Also the water temperature and water pressure on the 10th floor was troublesome during my stay. I mentioned it on checkout but no one took any notes and no one offered any explanation so it may have been an isolated issue or something they are aware of and unable to fix? The restaurant and it's staff were the highlight of the stay at this hotel. Good food, nice folks. A nice location and an adequate hotel that with a few small changes could be awesome. Rated 3 out of 5 by Good location, but be wary of other events going on My biggest recommendation is to add more insulation to the walls the next time you renovate. As a result of Norfolk State's Homecoming, it was a party on our floor and impossible to sleep because they were so loud... insulation in the walls and staff asking people to be respectful would have been helpful. Additionally, our room wasn't the most clean... could improve that. The location was great and it was easy to get around Norfolk. November 5, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by I really love this Hotel I stayed at the this hotel this past weekend for NSU Homecoming on Nov 1- Nov. 3, 2013. I really enjoyed staying here. The staff was very helpful and very professional. Any question I had, the staff was there to answer. The room was very neat and clean. I will be back to this hotel next year. Rated 3 out of 5 by OK Everyone was pleasant and the room was fine. My only issue was that I had signed up for the pet package, which was supposed to include all sorts of things upon check in. When I got there, none of it was ready. When they finally got it together, all they brought was a tiny bed (way too small for my dog) and a dog bowl that was still visibly dirty. I was supposed to receive clean up bags, as well as coupons and discounts, which I received none of. November 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceeded my expectations This was a wonderful one night stay at the Sheraton Waterside in Norfolk. The room was excellent and hotel staff was superb. I enjoyed the habor view especially at night when the city was aluminated. I truly needed a night of R&R with my Pooh due to the stresses of being a caregiver to my father who has late stage Alzheimer. October 28, 2013

Everyone there are so professional (kitchen staff, hostess, front desk, ALL) and very responsive. Rated 2 out of 5 by This hotel needs improvement We were very disappointed in the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside. We had to have staff come to our room 6 times over a 3 night stay. All for items/problems that should have not happened: 1st we requested a refrigerator prior to our arrival - that was not in our room, had to be brought after our check-in. 2nd at check-in we joined the Starwood Club so we would save the $9.95 per day charge to have internet service in our room. However, no instructions were given to us at the front desk nor were there any in the room so someone had to come to the room to instruct us (other hotels give simple easy to follow instructions for connecting to the free internet service in the room). 3rd the clock was set one hour ahead the first morning the house keeping staff had to ask the house keeping supervisor to come to the room to re-set the clock and set the alarm. 4th when we arrived back at our hotel room in the evening the alarm was going off for 7 PM not 7 AM, so a front desk staff had to come and re-set the alarm (this person did admit that the alarm clocks used in this hotel are very difficult to understand). 5th the second morning the house keeping staff did not give fresh clean towels, someone had to bring towels later that day. 6th we noticed that this same house keeping staff did not give a supply of a fresh roll of toilet paper, so someone had to bring that to the room. The only problem that could be taken care of without someone coming to the room was the exchange of the broken TV remote control for one that was not broken (that my husband was able to exchange at the front desk). Other problems: the second day the house keeping staff washed the glass drinking glasses in the bathroom sink, kind of grossed me out (I think she could have given us freshly washed in a dishwasher glasses). The vending/ice machine room had the light bulb out so the room was completely dark. The phone by the bed wasn't working. The arm chair in the room did not have a small table next to it to place your beverage. No morning paper was delivered to the room. The towels are very scratchy. There are not a lot of outlets. There is no book in the room with hotel and local information. The only TV channel guide was on the television which was inconvenient. Everything costs extra: The refrigerator was to cost us $10.00 per day but they forgot to charge us. The internet would have been $9.95 per day but we joined the Starwood Club so we got that charged removed from the bill. The self-parking (1½ blocks away) was $12.00 per night or you could have the valet parking for $22.00 per night. One bottle of water in the room was free and the second bottle was marked $2.50. They do not offer a free breakfast. They have a restaurant which offers expensive breakfasts and lunches and dinners and has a bar. Some rooms have small cement balconies with nice views (but no chairs and if you could sit the cement walls would block the view and the balcony was very dirty). The room and bathroom were clean. The beds were clean & comfortable, the TV had a nice picture, the desk chair was comfortable, the wake up calls worked well, the air conditioning and heating worked well. We did not hear noises from other guests but there were a lot of creaking and quiet banging (I guess it is an old building). Rated 4 out of 5 by Fantastic overnight stay The staff that checked me in at the front desk was fantastic, friendly, and helpful. It was like he knew all of the questions I would be asking, and gave me all of the info I wanted before I even asked. Room was standard, slightly bigger than most Sheraton's with a king bed and plenty of room to work at the desk. Breakfast was pretty good. I appreciated that they had additional things on the item to order, but I went with the buffet (it was so-so). However, the restaurant staff was very attentive, and wonderful. October 25, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by This hotel only serves Starbucks Coffee Not everyone likes Starbucks coffee, your hotel had no other option. Every morning we had to get our key card reprogrammed, to get back into our room. I did the green thing, not getting my room cleaned for a voucher, wrong! The only place that accepted it was the dining room. I had breakfast, 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, toast and a glass of milk, the cost was unbelievable, $17. The buffet was cheaper!! Worse part was, the parking was suppose to be free, got our ticket validated, but still cost us $24. October 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Maintenance Issues The room was clean but the bathroom needs maintenance. The plunger in the sink was broken and the sink would not hold water. The handle on the shower fell off during use. It was clear that these items had not been checked for some time! October 22, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Hotel room next to elevator This hotel room was discounted through AAA and Sheraton hasn't let me down in the past so I didn't question it. The room was very nice, big and clean but right next to the storage closet and the elevator and was very noisy. I didn't sleep at all the entire night due to the noise. I went to say something the next morning at the front desk but they were so busy with other check outs that I just left and not a happy customer. If you are staying at the Sheraton in Norfolk, make sure your room isn't by the elevator on or next to the storage closet. October 22, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Expect rudeness from staff While the room was adequate, the front desk staff was rude and nasty. After contacting the general manager I don't see a change as his attitude was much the same as I experienced from the MOD that treated me like a second class citizen. Rated 2 out of 5 by This hotel needs work This hotel needs work. The elevators were dirty every time we stepped in them. Our room had a terrible buzzing noise which only stopped after my husband tinkered with the ac/heat and vents. Guests walking around at 2am isn't the hotel's fault, but the thin walls made it easy for them to wake us up in the middle of the night. Mattresses were incredibly uncomfortable and the pillows were awful and should be replaced with something more sturdy for your neck as these went flat the moment your head touched them. Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome room excellent stay My wife and I stayed here a few months ago and it was awesome. All the staff was extremely helpful from the doormen to the severs on the club lounge. The views are beautiful on both the city side and the harbor side. The hotel is near several fine eateries including some local restaurants and some other well known high class establishments. This is by far one of the greatest rooms I have ever stayed in, the atmosphere and surroundings are just awesome. I would definitely recommend that anyone stay here. My wife and i make every effort to get here and stay throughout the year. We love it and you will too!!! October 19, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel is aging. I expected a little more class and professionalism. There were five areas that they failed to meet needs: 1. Room Hallway had an odor. 2. Was supposed to have an adjoining room with family making a late arrival. Didn't happen. 3. While we received fresh towels, the room was not cleaned. 4. Went downstairs and placed a to-go order for meal in restaurant in mid-afternoon. I was the only customer in restaurant. Order was "lost." Took 30 minutes. 5. Parking was a great disadvantage. Garage was located nearby but in order to get there you had to make a minimum walk outside. Add bad weather on top of that and it was a miserable experience. October 14, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by A bit tired The rooms and general facilities need updating. The public areas (elevators, wooden trim, walls etc.) need touch up paint or minor repair. The tent type covering over the patio outside the restaurant is full of cigarette burn holes and should be replaced. The lounge on the 10th floor breakfast bar has fewer offerings than the standard fare at lower priced Inns. The shining star and saving grace is the friendly and accommodating staff. From front desk, to guest services, wait staff and bar personnel are attentive, eager to engage conversation and make one feel at home and provide advice on activities and close by amenities. These front-line folks all excelled. This is the draw that brings one back time and again. Great job and thanks. October 3, 2013

Rene that was working the omelette station in the City Dock each morning was a joy. working like crazy, getting everyone's order correct but still smiling and talking to each customer, what an asset she is to the morning crew. Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointing We requested an upgrade to 10th floor. The room was dusty and the bathroom was dirty. We were moved across the hall. This room was a little cleaner. But, the mattress sagged on the left side. The lights in the bathroom can use a lower wattage bulb. It is too bright and blinding especially at night. The club food was more like what is available in lower grade hotels. September 27, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel dirty, staff unfriendly The room was not very clean. It was dusty and there was something in the toilet when I checked in. The housekeeping staff were unfriendly and did not smile or greet when I walked by. The staff at the desk when I checked in were OK, but not up to the standards that I would expect.
