From the bell man, to the front desk, to Mr. "W", the Director of Rooms, the staff at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center was certainly among the most friendly and welcoming of any I have experienced in many, many hotel stays. While the hotel could probably use a facelift, the room was comfortable and clean. Even after we checked our of the hotel, Mr. "W" called to make sure that our stay was an enjoyable one. Thanks to all.

I have been staying at the Sheraton City Center for the better part of the last 2 years. The hotel is convenient to work, has a good exercise facility, and wonderful staff.
On request the hotel makes available a Microwave and Fridge. Room service is standard Hotel fare, and usually delivered in under 30 minutes.
The TVs in the bar could use some updating, and the new menu needs to be replaced, but the staff is always friendly and the service prompt. Food quality is good (just the menu itself is lacking - and is due to be replaced soon I am told).
Overall, a good hotel convenient to office, Inner Harbor, or the Sports/Entertainment venues.

I have been staying at this hotel nearly every week for over two years. From Day 1, all the staff that I have encountered - concierge, front desk, restaurant, security, business travel dept., and even the maintenance staff - make me feel welcome; like visiting a friend or relative.
I find the beds to be very comfortable.
Any issues that arise are handled promptly and courteously.
I have recommeded this hotel to other travelers and will continue to do so.

Check in was fast, professional and extremely friendly. We were given an upper floor, the room was very nice. Also very clean! I forgot to check pillows, they are down filled unless you request hypoallergenic, started our first day with swollen eyes, had to take benedryl. Staff changed them and the down blanket,it took a desk visit and a phone call. I agree streets here are noisy, but being on upper floors helps. I would stay again, felt the great staff was their biggest plus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Campos64 Great place to hold your event!
I was the planner on a corporate event which was held March 2012. Before the event the service manager, Brett Caplan, did an excellent job meeting my needs and answering all of my questions. During the 3-day event, he was always responsive and available. Every request I made was fulfilled and met with a great attitude. I was also impressed with the quality of the food provided by the banquet services. I would definitely plan another event there

The hotel is conveniently located downtown Baltimore. The lobby is fairly standard, but the service was good. When I arrived at my room it actually smelled like smoke, but they were willing to change rooms for me very quickly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by deerisle Great staff, infrastructure dated, mediocre food
I stayed at the Sharaton Baltimore for a week while working at a conference. Starting with the positives, the staff were great and worked really hard to provide excellent. The dated infrastructure of the hotel made them have to work too hard at times, and sometimes they could not make up for the challenges.
From Steve at the bar to Terry in banquets to Jackie in reservations to Diane as the conference rep. to Tom from PSAV, the staff was great. Juan (director of operations) was also outstanding, and everyone cared. If the hotel had not been fully booked, I think that the infrastructure would have made the experience better. However, with the hotel completely full, there was not enough hot water for all of the guests every day. I heard that this would be rectified in December, so hopefully it will not be an issue in the future. Other updates that are needed include replacing many hallway carpets that are worn, repainting some walls and rooms, and just general updating. The beds were comfortable and what you would expect from a Sheraton.
The food was a disappointment. I stayed at this property 4+ months ago, and the food has gone downhill since then (I learned that the previous chef left). As I platinum guest I received vouchers for the breakfast buffet each day. I only used the voucher for the first day because it was so unappealing. The eggs were dry, and pastries were stale and cold, the bagels were what you'd expect in the frozen section of a grocery store, and the fruit was hard and under-ripe. The potatoes were soggy and tasteless. I ended up eat a yogurt in the club lounge or going out for breakfast the other days and letting the vouchers go unused.
The club lounge was adequate in terms of food-- hot coffee, fruit, yogurt, but it did not compare with the best lounges at other Sheraton. The staff was very nice and worked hard.
The food in the restaurant was decent for apps, hamburgers, and the fish tacos. Basically I'd recommend bar food and not anything else. There were good beers on tap, and the drink specials were very nice. The lunch buffet was worse than the breakfast buffet.
Bottom line: would I recommend this hotel? A qualified yes, but yes. The staff is really wonderful, and I would enjoy staying there again. The AAA rates online when there is not a conference in house look fabulous, and the infrastructure can handle smaller groups. I hope that the new management will make the improvements needed to make this an outstanding property, and then it would be an even better place to stay.

Overall, it was not a bad experience. I came from NY to an event which was across the street. The room carpet had stains on it. I was surprised that there were no toothbrushes, tooth paste, Microwave, or minifridge. Only the Valet showed any courtesy. I was not greeted by any staff. I would reccomend this hotel for some one who needs to be in that area, or needs a pet friendly hotel. The best part of my stay was the very comfortable bed, and the television. I've stayed at a local hotel near my home while having repairs on my house; and it was much smaller, but offered a nice complimentary Breakfast, as well as all the room amenities people need as far as hygiene and grooming etc. and the staff actually spoke to us.

Our room seemed very run down. The carpet had a big bump in it and we noticed brown stains on the bed skirts. The bathrooms seemed small. Also, the pool was very cold and not shallow for little kids. We liked having a fridge and microwave, though. If we're in Baltimore again we'll probably stay closer to the Harbor to cut down on walking.

Rated 3 out of 5 by energywhiz It's good for the money but don't expect a 5* hotel
This hotel is great for the price. Yes, it doesn't have a good bar or restaurant in the hotel. Yes, the rooms, except for the beds, are tired and in desperate need of renovation. But, the beds are comfy and the rooms are clean.
Yes, the windows need to be resealed and you're going to hear traffic noise, but the hotel does provide ear plugs for free.
The staff is friendly and very eager to please. I've always been upgraded as a platinum and the club has decent food and drink, even soymilk!
Again, as long as you temper your expectations you'll have a nice stay.

When I arrived, the hotel was completely booked and there were no rooms ready. I did not get into a room until 2AM.
However, the staff was extremely professional, caring and nice even with irate guests yelling and cursing at them.
I would stay again based on the professionalism of the staff.

This hotel is perfectly average. The main room size is acceptable and my room was clean. The bathroom is really small and the water pressure was very weak in the shower. There were sirens going by at all times and it was pretty loud as a result. The gym amenities were definitely a plus.

Convenient location for the Marina Center; easy to park.
The staff from the front desk on out were cheerful and very helpful.
The downside is that I have never stayed in a property quite this worn out. I know that Sheraton has been investing in makeovers - did this place not make the list?

The overall accomodations were good. However, when the staff argues over your room rate and parking rates even though you have it confirmed on your reservaion, a total problem. It was a total fiasco from the time we pulled in. Had a conflict with the billing and it took three people to take care of it. 8 hours later, still not resolved. The restaurant/bar also overcharged a percentage. We charged one price, and another total $6 more appeared on my ledger. I have never had a bar or restaurant add a percentage on as an "incidental". They claimed it will be removed from your account in 3-5 days. Beware and check your account after you charge anything here!! Very disappointed. Rachel was a shining star. She took care of the situation where the other two failed to do so!!

The check-in was horrible. I waited in the advertised SPG Preferred line for 15 minutes listening to another hotel guest dispute a deposit with two front desk reps and a manager. When they finally finished, I was told that they only had one line and to go to the end of the other line that they only had the preferred line when they had sufficient staff (Well, they had 3 people behind the counter not including the manager). I was never offered anything at check-in for my SPG Gold status (no points or drink or internet). We arrived in a room that we actually were in just months prior and found the same issue with the running toilet and at times, no water, no hot water, and/or no cold water. The front desk said they welcomed the feedback because they are dealing with the city with that problem. What??!! For several months? A city problem? Give me a break. When I finally requested a late checkout of 2 pm, the front desk said that they could only give SPG Gold guests late checkouts till 1pm. I had to show the front desk rep my cell phone that properly stated that I had, no limitations, till 4pm as a Gold Member and I only wanted till 2pm. This is not the service and quality that I expect from Starwood/SPG.

as a frequent guest of this hotel and I feel compelled to warn my fellow travelers to stay away. this hotel is rundown, dirty and in dire need of a renovation. each stay they tell me it will be the renovation is coming but... it no longer meets what i consider to be the lowest expectations of a sheraton
now service has declined to the same sad state of the rooms. uncaring, unresponsive full of excuses
the only compliment i can write about is the executive floor which is manned by very attenative staff who remember you by name!! cudos to this team
if your company forces you to stay here like mine that just hope it is a short stay

I left a very good review when I checked out of the hotel 2 weeks ago, because I felt staff were friendly and helpful.
2 weeks later, I found out that although I particiated in the 'Make a green choice' event but the points were not added into my startwood card, which is not a big deal, as long as I can work with the hotel to sort it out. So I have spent my whole morning calling the hotel, only got told that they can do nothing after I checked out. Yes, I get that, but wasn't that something you should have done properly when I checked out? I actually did get confirmed before I left the hotel that this is all handled. But during my calls with the front desk, all i was told is the staff has done correctly what they were supposed to do and they can do nothing about it after I checked out. Seriously? not even a 'Sorry' or offering help to check with SPG to fix your mistake? The attitude is Unbelievable. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but this is way beyond my experience with any hotels. I am sorry but I have to leave this comment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SusanE Never received Points
I booked three rooms for six nights at this hotel during a "bonus" period that supposedly doubled my points after registering in the special program. I also elected to take part in the 'green' program for all three rooms for the length of my stay. They must have record that I was in this program, because even when I requested to opt out of the program one day they told me if I did I'd forfeit all my points. I received vouchers for $5 off the restaurant each day, but didnt use them because I preferred to get the points. When, after I returned home, I learned that I didn't receive ANY points for my stay I called to fixit. It was then that I was told that if I didn't turn in the $5 off coupons upon checkout, I wouldn't receive the 'green' points. This little detail wasn't included in my.checkin discussion of the plan and it wasn't written on the coupon to the cafe. I became an SPG member this year so that I could earn vacation time with my family whenever I took a business trip. I will not seek out a Sheraton property again. The points program is a total sham. They didn't clean my room (or the ther two rooms under my name) for my entire stay-- since when does 'green' mean that no one even shows up to take out the trash or straighten the linens? What kills me is that they refused to recognize the fact that I sacrificed (as did my other two business associates) because I failed to turn in the coupons. They know they didn't clean the rooms and its not hard to figure out the coupons were not used in their restaurant. I don't know why my monthly statement says I never stayed there at all (or why I failed to receive the double points I registered for before my trip.) The person in charge of these things at the Sheraton City Center never returned my call after the front desk said he would be given the message.
On the upside, I did enjoy the restaurant staff on my first day. The rooms, even on the upper floors, are loud from sirens, bars letting out at 2am and dogs in the dog 'park'. Parking is cheaper and very convenient across the street.

I made a reservation for a king size bed. I arrived and checked in only to go up to the smallest room I have ever seen in a hotel and a queen size bed. I called down to the desk, only to be told there were no king size rooms left. Where did my RESERVED ROOM go and why was I not told of the problem when I checked in. I found this room to be totally uncomfortable, but it was too late at that time, not knowing the city well to look for somewhere else to stay

I am a Sheraton member. I stayed at this hotel in 2009 as well. Over the last 3 years this hotel has gone downhill. The only positives I have is the customer service at the front desk. The hallway smelled and the rugs were filthy. The room itself had the popcorn ceiling cracked all the way around the room. Very disappointed in this hotel. Will most likely try the Sheraton Inner Harbor next time.

I strongly recommend that people do not stay at this hotel. The location is right on the boundary of a commercial district and a very rundown part of Baltimore. Sadly, the hotel suffers badly from this. The inner harbor is the place to stay. I stayed in another hotel from the Starwood chain right after this and the contrast was striking. This hotel is also very "tired". During my stay there was demolition work across the street and the windows totally failed to block the sound, which started at 6am. Valet parking is exorbitantly priced. The one positive I can report is the staff, who were all friendly and helpful, despite being a union workforce.

Not what I expected from a Sheraton hotel. The beds sheets had to be changed several times due to the linen not being clean. The room was smaller than expected. The toilet overflowed from the top after it was flushed. I just did not have a good experience at this hotel.

I stated one night at this hotel and it was one night too long. The check in staff was very good. Upgraded to a corner king room on club floor. This room was tiny by all standards and something I would expect in NY but not in Baltimore. Housekeeping should be reprimanded for overall cleanliness. Club floor in desperate need of painting. Food on the club lounge consisted of chips and soda that was not replenished. A group held a party in the lounge, smoking pot, and overall very disruptive. A young gentlemen used the sofa for a bed. This activity continued all night. Around 3 a.m., left to alert concierge downstairs. Nothing happened to minimize the noise. In the morning, saw same young man still asleep on the couch.

Probably the worst Starwood hotel I've stayed at. Rundown, dirty, and disorganized. Mold in the showers; fixtures and wallpaper falling off the wall; walls marked and stained. To top it off, they lost my reservation which I made months in advance and confirmed 3 days in advance. Has anyone from Starwood or Sheraton brass stayed here recently? They would be horrified.
