Rated 2 out of 5 by Very difficult to receive assistance I organized accommodation for a group to stay at the Sheraton for 3 weeks in the summer 2013 and it was an absolute nightmare to set it up and pay. Multiple times i called the reception and there was no answer or if i was transferred between departments my call was dropped. I spent 3 hours one day simply trying to speak to someone that would take my credit card info to pay for the rooms. I would think that if i wanted to spend approximately $12,000 at the hotel someone would want to talk to me?! From my experience the different departments don't communicate effectively because I requested amenities for the rooms, one department said it was taken care of and then i would hear from our guests that it wasn't. A woman name Jeannette in billing finally made an effort and made this experience bearable. I appreciated her taking care of things, but unfortunately it was too late for me to say i would go back to the Sheraton again. August 22, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Beautiful lobby, unkept room Upon arrival I was greeted by a beautiful lobby with lots of seating and friendly staff. However once I was booked in to my room I was disappointed to find the following, black smudges on white towels, long black hairs in the bath tub, a burnt light bulb in the washroom and a sunflower seed on the bed. I would think that this doesn't normally happen. However, it must be noted. August 22, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by hotel was good great facility, however, there were several small things that should have been taken care of that were not. long lines in the lobby for check-in and questions. staff was not informed and made up answers rather than just saying they didn't know, but would get me an answer. service was disappointing. Rated 2 out of 5 by Curtains and air conditioning old and falling apart Curtains had holes in them and could not block out street lights. Air conditioning was noisy and did not keep room cool. This hotel needs renovations. Moreover, the hotel needs to have a faster check in system. Queues are frequent. August 22, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by UK visitor in Toronto Stayed for a week. Great central location for all the essential places to visit. Foyer/Lobby was impressive but the décor of the hallways on each floor was a dull beige everywhere and looked dated. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was tired but clean and functional. Help desk staff were really helpful in choosing the best options for places to visit. Even purchased a few tickets from there to save time. Food at the BnB restaurant was great quality and service was quick. All in all, a great experience and would recommend to anyone else. August 21, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sheraton Center I have been coming to this hotel for a few years now. Staff are friendly and room are comfortable however this past stay really disappointed. Internet is slow and wi fi drops every ten minutes or so. Also no water in my room. Perhaps benefits for platinum members have changed. Otherwise an ok stay. August 21, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible Accounts Receivable department I stayed in the hotel on June 29th until the 1st of July. I was charged an extra stay on my friends credit card. We booked rooms together but put two separate credit cards on the bill. Unfortunately, he was charged for both rooms which is totally incorrect seeing how we paid cash when we left the hotel for our room. This issue has been ongoing for several weeks now and still nothing has been resolved by the hotel. I would not recommend staying at this hotel due to unstable and incompetent staff August 20, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Good facility, very bad service As a SPG patron and platinum member for multiple years I have come to expect a certain standard of excellence from SPG properties. This expectation was fulfilled only so far as the physical facility was concerned. When it came to the service and staff at the hotel, I was severely disappointed. I arrived slightly earlier than expected and decided to drop my bag off at the luggage check area. There was no one there to help me out and when someone finally did come he made it seem like it was an imposition to ask him to do his job. This foreshadowed the difficulty involved in getting anyone at the hotel to do anything. Need a wakeup call? Too bad! No one is at the front desk or operator's desk at 6pm, I mean why would someone be? I tried calling 6 times in a row and this wasn't the only time I tried to call down to the hotel front desk or operator and no one picked up. I saw many, many people wandering through the hotel but it appeared as though no one does anything. Finally, on the last day of my terrible stay someone was banging on my door at 6 am. I thought it was the cleaning staff so I remained in bed. Then someone called the room asking me if I had asked for help with my bags. It being 6 am, and me being asleep, meant that I hadn't yet the person on the other end of the line insisted that I had called down. It was an unusual feeling to be woken up at 6am to someone asking you something only for them to not believe your answer. Needless to say the banging on the door continued a second time until I got up to let the staff know that I, in fact, hadn't called down for baggage help. The last poor experience occurred when I went to clarify an item on my bill at the front desk. There was no other customers there so I walked up to the front desk to speak with the woman behind the counter. As soon as she saw that I was a Platinum member she asked me to go to the Platinum area, which I would have done initially had it not been closed (in fact, another member of the staff mentioned that they were getting rid of the area entirely). However, this woman insisted that it would be faster for me to go to the non-existent Platinum area for all my needs. I gave up and walked out of the Sheraton and I never plan on returning again. Oh, and before you think this is a one-off event, this is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and I recieved the same poor service the previous time as well. August 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by From check-in to check-out, everything is oustanding Outstanding staff service, Great features Outstanding location The new beds are amazing... my daughter and I slept incredibly comfortable August 20, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Acceptable at the Right Price This is not a property in its prime and the age is showing. The lobby and common areas are very nice. The room is dated. Only two plugs in the room, otherwise you need to use the Bathroom. Bathroom mirror is great if you are under 5'9". Windows are filthy and really take away from wonderful city views. Pool is not well maintained. I was there for two days and the whirlpool jets never worked. The final irksome piece was being nickle and dimed for every little thing. $2 fee to use a credit card, incremental cost for wifi in room, plus add a little more if you want it outside of the room, etc.. August 20, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bathroom The water in my room was brown. Also, the toilet was clogged and would not flush all the way. I reported both issues and they came by and cleaned my bathtub and sink but the toilet still would not flush all the way. You basically would have to flush repeadtly for tissue or anything left to go away. I have stayed at other hotels and not had any such issues. August 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Long check-in line, no free internet. The property overall is nice and in a good location. The sweet sleeper bed was very comfortable and complimentary water bottles were a welcome surprise. However, there was a 30 minute wait in a line to check-in. Also, paying $14.95 for internet access, when most hotels offer for free was surprising. Lastly, there were 3 black hairs found in our bathroom, on the sink, toilet and in the bathtub - not pleasant at all! The bathroom also doesn't have a fan to help with odors or steam from showers and we had to leave the bathroom door open when showering. August 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Sheraton Toronto a Great Place to Stay I've stayed at the Sheraton Toronto many times for conferences, and it's always a great place to stay. If you're travelling to Toronto, the location downtown is ideal. And this was the first time I used their fitness facilities, and they had everything I needed for a great workout. August 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Adequate The room had limited amenities. No wifi No minibar No fridge The wait for a fridge was long. There was a 20$ charge for it. August 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice rooms The room was very nice and comfortable. However, we spent a lot of time waiting in line. First to get into the parking lot. Once there we learnt we were in line for valet parking. There was no sign to indicate that we were in the valet parking line and we are not use to paying $48 plus tips to park so we were then directed to a parking lot. We then stood in line for 45 minutes to check in. The staff checking us in did not acknowledge this, I hope that this is unusual. August 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. The staff are what makes this hotel great. Not impressed with the internet service. Signal strength is low and drops off frequently. It is even worse in the meeting rooms where it is usually needed to present workshops. Filters on airconditioning units need cleaning. Nice facility close to Eaton Centre, Bay store and lots of good restaurants and entertainment. August 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Leadership Conference Thank you for your fast attention to my concerns and for my room upgrade. August 18, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Where it was good it excelled, where it was bad it was really bad There was no in between. The pointts that were good were way above average and exceptional but where it was bad and it was very bad. It all came down to staff. The wait staff in the hotel restaurant in the evening were terrible we were there 2 nights and both nights they were unfriendly slow I would even say rude. In the morning at breakfast the staff were attentive friendly good natured and had a smile and willingness to assist and make you feel welcome. The same is true for the front staff at check in on Thursday evening despite massive line ups they were friendly accommodating and able to smile and make us feel welcome We were on the 41st floor with 2 people afraid of heights. On 2 separate occasions the staff rode up in the elevator with them to offer reassurance. They were wonderful and made a very real difference. On the day of check out it was also our last day for the conference we were there for and were trying to coordinate checkout between our sessions. The front desk, valet and locker room staff were difficult to work with and although gave us options and answered our questions it certainly wasnt friendly or helpful. In the end it was all seen to and there was no problem but with their demeanour it wasnt pleasant or enjoyable The food was fantastic the rooms were clean and the conference area was great. Some of the staff were mean and a nightmare to deal with. Some of the staff were absolutely amazing enjoy working with people and has a genuine willingness to help and make sure your stay was memorable and understand a smile and a small gesture can make all the difference to the guest August 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Conference Stay My friend and I stayed at the Toronto Downtown Sheraton Centre while I attended a Conference. From check-in to check-out the staff was amazing, rooms were spotless, food both in the restaurant and Conference was excellent, considering they were feeding 400 women at a time. I can't wait to come back next year! August 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Watch your bill Got charged for three phone calls that were made after I left one call took care of the problem and the hotel reversed the charges but keep a close eye August 17, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by construction everywhere construction was everywhere in and around this worn down hotel. parking the car was a nightmare and didn't like the blah food at the hotel. never again at this place! August 16, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Stayed during a conference, not impressed I was impressed most by the staff during my two night stay. However, my room had no fridge and the nestle water was awful, the food served was bland and in some cases sub par. The breakfast was great but then again its really hard to mess up scrambled eggs. I found the dessert was the best in taste and selection. Oh, get this, Internet for personal use comes at a charge! Luckily my company was covering it. As for meetings, the rooms were great and the temperature was comfortable all the time. August 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Old, dated, tired, apathetic staff The TV didn't work in the room and wasn't connected to the treadmills. The phone at the bedside didn't work. The wall around the heating/air-conditioning vent in the room was almost black - who knows what I was breathing in. The Information desk was never open so we couldn't get ideas for where to eat. Asking the Bell staff was like asking someone who could have cared less. And we could barely understand what they said. And the refrigerator in the fitness center is supposed to be for cold and wet washcloths. They have it filled with dry hand towels, which makes no sense. I would not return nor recommend the hotel to anyone else. August 16, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by The hotel is really run down For a hotel in Toronto this hotel is really run down. The curtains are torn, the shower heads are broken, from some places the shower walls have cracks. Really not a place I would recommend anyone to stay in. There are better hotels in Toronto August 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mostly good ... ... we enjoyed our stay at the Toronto Downtown Sheraton. It was central to all the shopping malls and districts, as well as attractions. Our only disappointment was how a very noisy situation was dealt with at 2:30 AM. From the time we called down to the desk until resolution, it was 30 minutes. And when we asked at the desk the next day to move rooms, we were informed it wasn't possible, without any other action. August 14, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5by I expected more I booked a room the day previous to checking in. I asked for a single king bedroom however instead recieved double beds. This was a romantic get away weekend. We had not been away together over night for 8 years because we have a hobby farm and the animals need to be fed. Our daughter was staying at the house to look after the animals for us. When we got to the check in desk there was a very long line up and we waited over a half hour. After finally getting to registration we were informed there were no King Beds available. What is the point in booking a room then. We did arrive at about 3:30pm and check in is anytime after 3:00. So, I don't see where there should have been an issue in getting what we booked. While at check in, the service was cold. I realize you are busy but this is the service industry. Put on a smile or something. We had a chat with registration and we understood when going to our room that we were getting a King bed with handicap access. I am ok with that. We got to the room to find he had given us a handicap accessible room with twin beds. Where is the honesty. I tried two different times to use the customer service direct line and there was no answer either time after letting it ring 8 - 10 times. I just finally gave up and decided to stay in the room we had. It would work for what we needed. A roof over our heads. On the other hand, the girl at the courtesy desk in the main lobby was actually delightful and helpful. She even escorted a seeing impaired patron to the escalator and helped him to where he need to go. I waited while all this happened but was delighted to see her assist this gentleman. It was the highlight of my stay. That should not be a highlight in a facility like this. The hotel was close to the attractions we wanted to see but I think in the future I will be looking elsewhere for my accommodations. August 14, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in... This is the worst starwood preferred hotel I have ever stayed at. Dingy rooms, out-dated. Our bath tub and shower had sand in the bottom even after we tried flushing it out...seemed to be coming from the water source itself. Even the water had a brown tinge to it. Front desk staff were not helpful and often rude. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. A complete waste of money. August 13, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Rude Welcome There was a problem with my corporate check-in. Instead of being treated with respect and dignity and problem-solving the situation, I was greeted with a very rude, inflexible and argumentative supervisor. I have never been treated so poorly and disrespectfully by a professional who's primary job in life is HOSPITALITY. August 13, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Didn't impress Stayed at the Sheraton Centre from the 31st July to the 10 August. Arrived at the hotel a little before 9pm after a transatlantic flight from Heathrow and a taxi driver not sure of the entrance mainly due to numerous road works, on arrival we found the reception very quiet (only the two of us checking in) the young lady behind the desk checked us in very quickly and efficiently noting that we had emailed from the UK to upgrade our room to club. This was the only time we saw reception quite for the rest of our stay it was chaos and not uncommon to wait 30 minutes to check in with long queues through the lobby. Tourist information desk approached three times with a question twice told to go on line or use a free phone number, one young lady very helpful showing us how to get somewhere, the guys who you book taxis or limos with excellent On arrival to the room this is when for me personally things became horrendous as I suffer with Acrophobia, all club rooms are situated on floors 36 upwards we had been allocated a room on the 40th floor when asked to be moved lower was informed no rooms available due to the hotel being full for something called Caribana so curtain were closed for the whole of the stay (hotel booked through a third party and no were on booking form for special requests eg lower floor) only to get worse that breakfast was on the 43rd, whoever thought it would be spectacular, breath taking or a feature of the hotel to eat so high up your so sadly wrong it’s the stuff of nightmares for guests with a fear of height with no alternative to eat on a lower floor. Our room was large, clean, comfortable, beds excellent everything in the room worked perfectly but Wi Fi very poor. With the arrival of weekend came the Caribana and the hotel going into total lock down with 5 to 6 police officers inside of the lobby and with as many if not more heavies (doorman) on the outside, guest were told that they would not be allowed back into their hotel unless they sported a garishly yellow plastic wristband which I have kept as a constant reminder of being tagged. As a tourist from the UK traveling 3500 miles or more (obviously not here for the festival) to be a prisoner of Sheraton or sleep on the streets of the city believe me does not leave me with an impression of wanting to hurray back to your hotel in the near future, you really need to find an alternative Location of the hotel is central to most tourist sights in Toronto within walking distance from most, subway, buses and streetcars to others are literally on the door step of the hotel so great for all public transport Would I stay here again the answer has to be no, for the money certainly not worth it. And a word of advice if you have a fear of heights avoid this hotel at all costs August 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 This hotel has the best staff This hotel is ideally located in Toronto and is close to everything, including airport and subway system. What makes it special are the staff - Brian and the crew are the best! Beds are comforatable as you would expect. Club floor access is recomended for quality light breakfast and good meeting area after work day is done. August 13, 2013
