Rated 4 out of 5 Good hotel, good location.
View of the room is superb. Rooms are big and well furnished. Bed is hard, but with a good topper, so I slept well. Staff is friendly, some of them don't speak English very well, but that goes for most of the people in Thailand. Location is good, nearby the river and the ferries, shopping mall, restaurants and supermarkets nearby.
Minor point of concern is the lounge chair in the room which was a bit greasy of previous users. Perhaps that could be cleaned once in a while.
Rated 4 out of 5 by miki2012 great view
Hotel people are very nice kind. View was so nice! However shopping mall next door has only antiques. Not a regular shopping mall.

As a frequent traveler this was a satisfactory stay...
Rated 4 out of 5 Good location
We thought the service was very good and the location excellent for our needs, however the overall appearance of the hotel was a little dated. The rooms are a little small compared with a lot of hotels in Asia.

My friend was sick - and the hotel did a great job of taking care of her.
The concierge was fantastic, helping us on numerous occasions to book airlines, etc.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hemal Location
While the place is nicely located near the river, it is further away from multiple dining options, which are a challenge. However, an excellent property and courteous staff.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mstannta Not consistent
Great river location with good connections.
Enjoyed breakfast each morning, especially on the terrace but would have liked to try the restaurants in the evening. This was not possible because of staff inflexibility. In the Thai restaurant, there were only 2 diners and one reserved table but we were offered a table in the centre - a location we hate. When we asked for a corner table, we were told it was for 4 so we walked out. When we returned to the hotel later that evening, the requested table was still free. The Sambal was a little limited in choice so did not provide an alternative.
Toiletries were not consistently provided with some items not replaced on a daily basis. Even when requested, they were not sent up.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fanino Very central situation!!!
Excellent location near everything worth a visit in Bangkok.
Excellent service.Only for people who like huge hotels. You feel like a number in this hotel.Very luxurious but no cosy-ness.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Victor25 Great Staff
Overall, quite impressed with the hotel. The staff was very accomdating, even with me coming in at 10AM to have a room ready as my companion was ill and needed to rest. Location is overall pretty cool with it being on the water, but many of the cab drivers did not know where the hotel was, which was a little frustrating.
If you want to have a great massage, do use the hotel spa. While you will be paying Wester prices, the service is spectacular, and the massage therapists are great.
Rated 4 out of 5 by jll888 Nice view of Chao Phraya river
4th visit to this hotel, never disappoint me with the sweet sleeper bed. Room was spacious, but it would be great if the bath and shower is separated.
Complimentary shutter boat to Saphan Taksin BTS, convenient and we really enjoyed the ride.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hongkongphooey Lovely Hotel
I love this hotel and have stayed here many times over the years. Great service, pool, F & B outletsand rooms are very comfortable. However, on this occassion the hotel was very busy and I was frustrated that the SPG desk was being used for everyone and I had to wait 20 mins before I was checked in. What is the point of having SPG check in/out desks if they are not being used for SPG guests, but group check in?

Nice hotel, definitely needs a makeover to meet up to modern expectations. Staff very courteous and very well managed concierge team. Excellent towers lounge which desperately needs serious refurbishment. The staff here was very warm and comitted, the attention that they gave all would definitely be the highpoint. Location wise comfortable but views overcome all the ageing
Rated 4 out of 5 by Teejuk this hotel next to Chaopraya River

Nice to be able to sit by the river and watch the world go by while sipping a cocktail!
Rated 4 out of 5 by ahman98 In-room free internet
Hotels in Far East and China are offering free internet in guest rooms.
Despite I have paid small amount of money for 3 days access to internet in my room, and your hotel in Bangkok did provide free Wifi in the lobby and free broadband internet on the 1st floor, I'm still of the opinion that free internet in the guest rooms being part of the important service/facility to the guests.
Rated 4 out of 5 by zipzipmomo nice riverview
This is our third stay at the hotel, we enjoy the everchanging riverview while lying on bed. We were surprised when the staff at the swimming pool still recognised my girls.
Rated 4 out of 5 by DrPR Excellent Club Lounge
Our second visit to Royal Orchid Sheraton.
Got upgraded to Executive Suite as Platinum member. Thank you! The view and the location were great.
The best service we received during this visit was from K. Chunyanuth at the Club Lounge on the 27th floor overlooking the beautiful Chaopraya River. She provided excellent service--remembering our drink preferences and made sure that we were always well taken cared of. Thank you.
Some issues we experienced during the stay were noisy bedroom air conditioner (Room 2217), inconsistent turn down service, and inconsistent level of service from different the Front Office staff members.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tae007 Nice view
Hotel is nice as it is starwood but the staffs or service does not meet my expectation (compare with the experinces I had with other Starwood hotels). Anyway, it is still a good choice for the people who are coming to Bangkok and want to see a real Thai city.
Rated 4 out of 5 by LBJB45 Nice hotel
We booked this hotel because our friends from California were staying here and we wanted to be at the same hotel. We got a good room rate but it did not include breakfast. Breakfast was VERY EXPENSIVE in my book. $28 per person is a lot of money to pay for breakfast so we only ate breakfast once and found other places that were less expensive. Also, we thought it was very chintzie on the Sheraton's part to not provide free internet/wireless. A hotel of this caliber should provide it free of charge. We got a good room rate but then they gouged us at restaurants and internet access. However, it is a beautiful hotel and the service was very good.
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2222 Check out
I was not impressed with this process. The cashier said we had used some items which we knew were simply moved to another place in the room( water with red cap). He eventually removed the charge but that is not the point. I asked that I received an email from him confirming that indeed we did not use the items and that they were still in the room. My credibility is important to me. It was not the costs.
Rated 4 out of 5 by VeryGoodPointsStacey Classic Hotel in Heart of Bangkok
The Sheraton Royal Orchid is located on the Chao Praya River and is very centrally located.
The lobby is grand and decorated with traditional Thai designs. The lobby has several gift shops, reception area, bar and restaurant. On the second floor there are many more shops, an Italian restaurant and traditional Thai Restaurant and Link@ Sheraton area. The third floor houses the Mandara Spa.
The hotel tower is 28 floors and has many suites and SPG preferred rooms in the tower. There is a concierge lounge on the 27th floor.
As a Platinum member of SPG, I was upgraded to an Executive Suite. The room was extremely large and on the corner of the tower building which provided great views of the riverfront. There was a bedroom, bathroom with large shower and bathtub, a living room with desk, couch and chair and very large screen TV. My colleague, also an SPG Platinum, was upgraded to a Junior Suite which was also in the Tower and just a smaller version of the Executive Suite. The room was very comfortable. There was turn-down service but it was not regular. Some nights it would happen, other nights it wouldn’t.
Concierge and Platinum Services:
The concierge lounge was very large with amazing views of the river. The lounge was open all day and closed around 10pm. In the morning, a light breakfast was served and the staff was very helpful and welcoming. As a Platinum SPG member, I was given the choice of eating in the lounge or restaurant and did not have to use my Platinum amenity for this benefit. The concierge lounge had snacks and drinks available all day. At 5:30, the lounge served appetizers and drinks. The rules for entering the lounge after 5pm were very different than during the day. After 5pm, you have to dress appropriately and can’t wear flip-flops, unless they have a gold decoration or flower on them. I had on the exact same flip-flops as my colleague, mine were plain black and hers had a gold buckle on the top. She was allowed to wear hers and I had to go change. The rules seemed to be enforced oddly. The appetizers and cocktails were very generous and delicious.
The restaurants were all good. Very fairly priced for hotel restaurants and the service was good and consistent. Breakfast was served in the main restaurant and there was an enormous buffet in addition to an ala carte menu. The Thai restaurant was very good. There is traditional Thai dancing from 7-10pm about once every hour and it’s a great show. The Italian restaurant is okay. There are many other great Italian restaurants in the city and I wouldn’t run to eat at this one if you had a choice.
The Mandara Spa is beautiful and relaxing. The massage services are excellent. I would highly recommend the Traditional Thai Foot Massage or the Swedish Massage. The manicure and pedicure services are average and I wouldn’t recommend them based on the prices. There were very few nail polish color choices, the foot massage and hand massage that you typically get with a mani/pedi were pretty non-existent. They didn’t have disposable shoes to wear after the pedicure, so you had to walk barefoot if you didn’t bring your own flip flops.
Overall, the hotel is a great value for the cost. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, the staff is very accommodating and the location is great. I would absolutely stay again.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Eva2011 Great Hotel
Nice room, nice pool. My kids love spending time in the kids pool. Complimentary shuttle boat service to BTS is a plus point, especially during ride from BTS to hotel during hot weather, they even provide us with cold tower and cold drinks. This small gesture enough to make us feel warm in our heart. Nice buffet breakfast spread. A small problem during check in when we trying to get into our room, they key is not functioning, they immediately change the room for us and extend our check out time to 4pm. Overall very satisfy stay.
Rated 4 out of 5 by mgvm Good hotel, great view
I was upgraded to a suite with a marvelous view over the river. Very comfortable and great bed as usual.
Breakfast in the Club Lounge is a poor copy of the same in other Sheraton hotels and badly needs improvement.
Both restaurants on the ground floor are excellent and the service in the Thai restaurant was very good and attentive.
Rated 4 out of 5 by RAMIR07 This hotel has great staff
Everyone on this hotel is cordial and friendly. Always looking to answer all your questions in full capacity.
Rated 4 out of 5 Convenient Bangkok location, great views
The rooms all face the river, so there are no bad views, although the higher floors are best. The river access is very convenient for boat transportation which avoids the crowded streets. The Towers Lounge serves breakfast, tea, and hors d'oeuvres. The furniture in the lounge is tattered and in need of repair or replacement. Breakfast in the lounge was just OK, much better in the lobby restaurant. All restaurants offer outdoor dining with great river views. Staff were friendly and helpful but could not offer a Starwood Platinum suite upgrade even though the property apparently has many suites.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nitnoi Telephone charges
Everything went smoothly until we were checking out. We received a number of telephone charges we didn't make. My partners did a few phone calls to local mobile numbers. But the bill we were charged included local fix numbers !! The front desk staff couldn't do anything but provide the numbers dialed. We are sure we didn't make all the phone calls. But we didn't have time to get things straight with the management. So we just paid them!
For all the visitors, please be careful when using the in-room telephone, ok?
Rated 4 out of 5 Excellent for Meetings and Training Workshops
Just completed overseeing a 2-week training exercise for 123 pax and I can only say that you have excelled in both support and ensuring all guests/trainees were happy. Congratulations on a job well done.

Rated 3 out of 5 by PiedmontWalker Disappointed
This is the 3rd time I've stayed at the Royal Orchid; the first two times were great, but the 3rd was disappointing - maybe my expectations were too high.
- great location with terrific views of the Chao Praya river from every room
- staff is extremely friendly and helpful
- property is within walking distance of Chinatown
- the hotel does not support the Green Choice program
- I am a Gold SPG member and free in-room Internet access was not provided even though it is listed on the SPG website as a Gold member benefit and I specifically requested it. On two occasions when I used the public wifi on the second floor I was bitten by fleas.
- the courtesy passenger boat to the Sky Train station only leaves every half hour, whereas the other hotels provide this service every 20 minutes.
- This is a great resort-type property to relax at if you don't need to use the Sky Train very much, and you don't need in-room Internet access.
- There is a large lot of empty land across the river and next to the Millennium Hilton; it looks ready for major high rise construction, which makes me expect a lot of day time noise in the near future for both hotels, so I would not book at either property until the construction is completed.
