Being an SPG, I have been a starwood guest for over 10 years in various continents. My stay at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok has been the worst Sheraton experience ever.
The staff were extremely unfriendly and uncommunicative , the quality of food was very mediocre and the cleanliness of the room was below par.
Overall I would give starwood hotels a pass in Thailand.

I have visited Royal Orchid Sheraton two times in this year.
When i was visit this hote first time, there was swindlers in elevator.
Of course, it is my fault that I show my wallet to swindlers.
Anyway, Guests who have a plan to stay in this hotel, must be careful against swindlers visiting Royal Orchid Sheraton.
When I visited this hotel second time, a manager gave my reservation to other guest, arbitary...
So, I almost cannot lodge in this hotel if I don't prove for myself that I had booked already.
After I checked my e-mail for a hour in the lobby and the manager checked hotel's system, I could find my confirmation number that I have alread booked and My old Mom should wait for me till last night.

Convenient location just beside the River City which serve the cruise servise on the Chao Phraya River. Even if you don't take a crusing, you can enjoy the very beautiful river view from your room.

The Sheraton Royal Orchid is located along a very scenic stretch of the Chaopraya River providing some very nice views along the river front especially at night. The hotel has renovated most if not all the rooms along with the Club lounge, and the walls / floors look in near new condition. The air conditioner in my room did not work well whereby sometimes I was warm and others very cold and adjustments did not resolve the issue. There was also a smell of cigarette smoke coming in through the air con even though my room was non smoking, not really sure why as it was a non smoking floor. In general, I had a very good stay and the staff did a great job of recognizing my platinum status and meeting my expectations.

I found spider web in the room.
I found body lotion placed that somebody already used ( Half left).
I found dirts on table.
I found hair in the bath tub.
I found no hair comb in the room.
I found face mirror's light does not on.
I reported it to front office and they never say sorry, they said it was my fault to not check right away. they blame on me.
I found spider web again (which I requested to remove#
I found no bath robe
I found no hair comb again
I found some unknown membership key card in card switch
I found spider web again and again
I found no hair come again again
I found hair in bath tub again again
I found spider web in the room again again again
#which I asked twice#
I asked room charge with coupon in Sambal bar, but the staff did not understand English
they never asked if I stayed alright or not.
the frontoffice could not find my room charge bill so I had to wait about 30 minutes to done the check out.
I stayed 7months ago and that was outstanding .
so I chose this hotel again for my honeymoon.
Me and my wife felt unhappy during stay.
I can not trust starwood hotel now.
Oh.. and there was no such things for honeymooners too. #differently with other starwood hotel.)_
will not stay SHERATON AGAIN in my life.
And I will try to stop anyone who would like to stay at your hotel.

perfectly located, well managed, nice in- and outdoor bars, superb restaurants, the pool at the portuguese embassy: great. Main pool:
Nice shuttle by boat to Saphan Taksin bts-station. I always like to come back to this hotel.

Stayed here for our 4 night stay in Bangkok. Had never stayed on riverside before but didn't find that a problem as you can easily get the tourist boat pass to take you to all the sites like Grand temple and Wat Po to name a few. Also the cost of taxi's is relatively cheap too.
Found all the staff in the hotel excellent, the breakfast buffet very good and it was nice to go for a cool down after some hot sightseeing to the pool.
The bedroom's are well appointed and the bed in particular we found very comfortable.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Bangkok.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days using SPG points. I have to say the hotel facilities were very good. The difference between a very good hotel and a great hotel comes down to service though, and this Sheraton still has some work to do.
For instance, during breakfast the waiter asked if we wanted tea or coffee; we said no, just water. Instead of getting us water he just pointed where we could get it ourselves. Then my breakfast was brought out a good ten minutes before my wife's, so I had to eat it before it got cold and finished before she got hers. So much for eating together. And then hers showed up wrapped in bacon, despite the menu not mentioning this. Given many peoples' dietary habits regarding pork this is something that should be mentioned in the menu. This isn't major stuff, obviously, but certainly colored our impression of the hotel.

Asked for a nice room on an upper floor and was given room in need of repair (old furniture and some of the things just falling out). Staff at the restaurant not very nice and at breakfast asked for two noodle soups for me and my husband and the noodles were not cooked, completely raw. Other than that it is still a hotel with one of the nicest views in Bangkok. Stay in 2011 was much nicer.

The conference I attended was scheduled at your Hotel from April 5-8 ... I checked in April 4th.
On making my booking I asked over a month earlier if I could have a late check out on my departure date of April 11 (@2pm). Actually my decision to extend my stay at your hotel until April 11 rested on that point. Your hotel excepted that point even on check in I extended and then was told to GO OUT on the 11th by some member of the desk staff as a result my trip and stay was totally changed. I would not stay at this Hotel again.

The team members were really friendly and efficient,we loved the buffet breakfast ,really complete,and the food variety was exceptional.
Our room was clean,and every day the housekeeping team member,left our room spotless( thank you).

The rooms on the SPG floors are good and below average on other floors. The public areas of the hotel are nice. In the bedrooms it is impossible to put the lights off above the bar area and also there is quite a lot of noise at night from different bars. Breakfast good. Location not great, hard to get to the sky train.

The hotel is comfortable and the staff are nice. Even though the hotel seems a bit isolated from other hotels but the boat transfer makes it convenient to go places.

Hotel staff are so kind & warm-hearted; I took the wedding shooting there and found it is a real good hotel with so beautiful view points; it found peacock in the courtyard nearby the swimming pool; finally i have to thank for the marketing department staff to coordinate my photo shooting.

This hotel provided us a nice 2 night stay, but ends up being a very expensive option for what you get, whether you are paying or using SPG points. Recently bumped up to category 3, which appears to be a blatant cash grab by SPG since it is really a category 2 hotel. Compared to the other Category 3 hotels around town, best to go somewhere else.
The Tower Lounge was nice, but the number of points or cash needed for this benefit is far more than it is worth.
We were overcharged by 9000 SPG points, and still waiting for the hotel to put them back in our account.
If your expectations are right, this is a nice hotel with a nice location right on the river. However, you will pay a lot for extras like food and lounge access, and this makes other hotels in the city a better choice.

Being by the river imparts a certain tranquility. Yet it is a stone's throw from the City Centre. The staff is well-trained and makes one feel downright at home.

I was at this hotel for a business conference. Every aspect of the service and facilities at this hotel were superb. The morning breakfast buffet had exceptional variety of good quality foods. The room was spotless and quiet. There was also a much wider selection channels on the TV than I am used to at international hotels. Overall, there isn't much more that I could ask for in a hotel.

My wife and I stayed here in March 2013. We were is a suite which overlooked the river. The facility is very nice and has a great location. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
My one criticism is that the pillows were large and hard. As a consequence, my neck was sore in the morning. After the first night, we slept without using the pillows.

I stay on this hotel for leisure trip. Overall I am very pleased with the service.
The room is very comfortable, clean with a stunning view of chao phraya river.
The associate are very nice, polite and attentive.
The hotel is outside of the city, but there is complimentary shuttle boat from the hotel to sky train station.
I highly recommend this hotel!
