Rated 1 out of 5 by DisappointedDr Waited 3 hours to check in
Waited 3 hours to check in ...a little air conditioning in the lobby, hallways , elevator etc would have been nice. They say with your sheraton points card you get 15% off their restaurants, but after we ate, this was never granted. Decent city view, but only glimpses of the ocean, even from an "ocean view" room on the 29th floor.
Rated 1 out of 5 by ActiveDutyMilitary Front desk customer service was awful
Although I am at the Gold Preferred Level..I was not placed on a Preferred Level Floor. We ate at the restaurant downstairs and after be seated we went to buffet bar only to return back to our table and the hostess gave our table to another couple...we were asked to move to another table. After checking out....my SPG Points to date have not been applied to my SPG account despite the fact numerous calls were made back to Manager!

I never ever stayed in such a bad Sheraton before.
Very dirty carpet....furniture worn off...no wifi in the room....very noisy room...balcony was used off....total stay was terrible...would never recommend this hotel.
Rated 1 out of 5 by SJF55 Worth Starwood hotel I've ever stayed in
I was completely shocked at what a run-down, out dated hotal this was. I spent two nights there on a business trip. Never never again. It made me question whether Starwood even cares. The in-house station on the TV says the Starwood is spending billions on hotel renovations. They need to start with the Princess Kaiulani.
There are 2 towers, one only has wired internet and the other only has wireless. I had to change rooms on my second night just to answer emails.
The resort charge of $23plus taxes is rediculous for the business traveler. For that charge you are provided wired OR wireless internet, not both: free breakfast and dinner for your child only and only IF you are traveling with a child under 5 years old; water and fruit at the pool and a towel. None of these fit my needs, yet I had to pay for the services.
The bathrooms are so out ot date I was reminded of my childhood in the early 60's. It know 60's is retro, but this doesn't speak to the best of the 60's. The finish was completely worn off the fixtures. The elevators are so old and slow that lines formed of people waiting to use the them. The halls are drab and worn. The air conditioner was surface mounted, not built in, and "hinden" behind a wooden louvered door. The AC unit was very dirty. There were two knobs on it, but had little effect on the temperature and no indication of what the knobs controlled. I took pictures of the room and only wish I could post those too.
The rooms are noicy. I could heard noices loud and clear from adjacent rooms and from the street.
On the positive side - The staff was friendly and the bed was clean.

Worst starwood property by far. My room had hundreds of bugs (flies, mosquitos, fleas), the tub had not been cleaned in years, some blood on the wall, hotel hasn't been updated in decades, no valet parking (instead you have to park in a dumpy garage behind the kitchens), staff was clueless on many things (although they did give me a fruit basket...which attracted more bugs). Just a terrible hotel property.
Rated 1 out of 5 by nealnyc Worst hotel experience
Room looks like 1970's Miami Beach decor, and its all original. Carpet was worn and had holes. The worst part was the service. The first two days of my stay the housekeepers came in my room despite the do not disturb sign on the door. The first day they just put the DND sign back behind the door. The second day they must have taken it because it was nowhere to be found. I was not in the room when they came in, but I did not put anything in the safe as i would have. There was money, laptop, ipad etc on the desk. When I called the housekeeping manager they acted like it was no big deal and they said they would take me off the cleaning list for the next day. Then they would not give me anything later than 2PM checkout on any of the three rooms I had booked and I have gold status. Then after I checked out I found out they offered 3PM to someone who was traveling with me who had no status. Just poor service at a below average hotel. Also Honolulu PD seems to allow "women of the night" to use the corner of the street so be advised they are there every night. Seems to be a shady part of the strip.

The Hotel is like stepping back to 1970. As an Elite SPG member you are offered nothing to make you want to stay at this hotel ever again.
Rated 1 out of 5 by HIWedding Skip this place
In short...we stayed for our wedding along with 12 of our guests. Most of the staff was unhelpful and rude. Our room was less than expected, the sink leaked and tub didn't drain. The wifi didn't work but we had to pay resort fees anyway. After constant contact with the hotel and guest services nothing could be done to reconcile our stay. I would gladly skip this hotel and Sheraton for continuity giving me the run around on something so trivial.
Rated 1 out of 5 by oscar Not SPG standard, no wifi, dirty and old
This hotel does not meet a minimum requirement of SPG standards. Very outdated, no wifi net, the rooms are dirty and poorly furnished. Bathroom is horrible, towels are old, smoke smelled.
Service is poor, breakfast is unacceptable for $30 and no cappuccino or latte not even hot milk avail.

Hotel was tired and needs update. LOUD from the outside and had to leave the tv on to sleep. Balcony door lock didn't work and every time I wanted to open the door I had to call down to have it fixed. Room service asked for my food to be eaten in an hour so they can have the tray back. Front desk left me waiting for over 15 at the gold line while they helped other customers. No valet, no spa, pool is small, beach across the street is dirty
Rated 1 out of 5 by Hillj03 Waste of Time
Hotel is out dated. Looks like it hasnt been updated since they built it. Don't stay in the tower because there is no wifi only hard wired Internet which is useless if you have a tablet. My TV, Ironing Board, and Safe were all broken. Staff don't greet you like normal SPG property they are more interested in getting you in and out is what if felt like. The only good thing was the location.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Setoguo It needs to get updated. Too expensive for the quality
It feels that this hotel has not been updated for the last century. The room does not even have a thermostat to control the temperature so you either freeze or fry yourself. Then, you have to pay almost $30 for internet (Platinum members get it free anyhow), parking (what about if you don't have a rental car?# and a couple of cocktails #what about if you go to Honolulu for business and don't go to the hotel?). In summary, too expensive, two outdated and people were not nice.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rivera09 Mis-led
I have been to Sherations before and always felt they offered nothing but the best. However, this time it was horrid: rooms were out dated, and mildew stains in bathroom, curtians with holes in them, and no complimentary morning breakfast buffet, wich the other Sherations had. It was like something from a 1970s Motel 6. We won't be back! We were on our honeymoon which made it all the more unacceptable. Our first room granted was a standard but in our opinion sub standard. they gave us two beds for a honeymoon? How horrid ! We won't use Pleasant Holidays ever again as well!!
Sorry to be the one to have to share this with you!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Latifa64 Time to retire this tired hotel
This hotel is terribly outdated as so many Sheraton Hotels seem to be. The bed was springy, the furniture felt sticky, the carpet was dirty, the bathroom wasn't dirty but because it is so dated, it felt dirty, low water pressure, breakfast buffet was the worst I've ever had ..... will never stay in this hotel again.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Jackie27 Not what I expected for what I paid :(
I paid $300 dollars for a room the site made sound like a fancy suite. I assumed a classy, newer looking, luxurious room for the amount paid. Instead, it looked like an old apartment that hasn't been renovated in 15 years. I was sad :(
The romance package was nice though. Looooved the breakfast in bed.
Rated 1 out of 5 by JTPauley Lousy Experience
I stayed here for a month while looking for a home. I was told parking was included, it wasn't and I was blindsided with a 400 dollar charge upon checkout. Breakfast is terribly expensive and not good. Dinner is decent enough, but not worth the money. In general, the hotel was decent at best, but nowhere near what I expected from a SPG hotel.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Ghost247 Worst Hotel Experience ever
This was the worst hotel stay ever. The description of the rooms, what a joke, for the price you paid. Wireless internet service is not available in all towers of the hotel and the options that I was given was to either pay an additional charge to rent a device or switch rooms and occur additional rooms charges. The rooms were antiquated, small bathrooms, beds, and overall the rooms felt cramp. Overall two thums down.
Rated 1 out of 5 by FreqStarwoodTraveler Only if you are desperate
If you are used to Starwood properties and like the quality and comfort, do not stay at this hotel; it will not meet your expectations. If you are desperate for a room and have no other options, it will meet your minimum needs, but cost more than it should.
Rated 1 out of 5 poor value
poor services from manager and check in staff. bed attitude. room is not clean. furniture is broken. long hair on bath tub, it may be from previous guest. no ventilation system in bath room. no privilege for SPG members. I was forced to pay extra to stay until 2pm. very poor internet service. paying 18 dollar resort fee is a rip off. never go back.
Rated 1 out of 5 by David10 Disappointment!!!!!!
This property is worn out and should be either completely renovated or torn down. I have stayed in a number of SPG properties and this is a new low. A significant number of items don't work right or have issues. The list is long and comprehensive.
Rated 1 out of 5 by MrLong The Hotel That Sheraton Forgot
My expectatiions were high when I initially booked my room. This was based upon the fact that it was a Shearton hotel. These expectattions were dashed once I actually got to my room. The furniture was old and outdated, as was the carpenting in the rooms and the hallways. The wallpaper was starting to peel in certain spots and my wife wanted to try and find a room at a different hotel. We decided that it would be at a disadvantage because it was so late in the day. We turned on the TV which automatically went to the Sheraton channel. Every Sheraton location that it showed was the type of room that we were expexting from a Sheraton hotel, clean, bright with updated amenities. The Princess Kaiulani, although historic in its foundation needs serious work done immediately. From the balconies that had dirty walls and in some spots crumbling facades to the parking garage which seem to have converted the elevator to a barber shop, this hotel is an embraasment to the Sheraton name. We later took a walk alomg Waikiki and ended up at the Sheraton Waikiki and the difference was way beyond night and day. Never again.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Unhappy65 Smelly, very loud
We were on the 16th floor. The hallways were stained and very smelly, like must or mold. The walls are so thin you could hear Everything going on in nearby rooms. I would never stay here again. We stay at SPG hotels all the time and this was a severe disappointment.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Steho The thrill is gone
In years gone by this was the go to place for us. This was our last stay until a major reno is done. The staff in the Splash Bar that we have known for sometime know how to provide good service. The staff and management at the front desk could learn something from them.
Housekeeping is inconsistent. Stopped leaving gratuity after 3rd day and resumed after 7th as service picked up.
Left complaint form at front desk 3rd day. No response
Rated 1 out of 5 by torontoboy I would avoid this hotel
Worst Starwood Hotel I've ever stayed at and given that I've been an SPG Platinum member for some time, this hotel should not have the Sheraton name attached to it...Old (I'd say the rooms have not been touched since the 70's), broken (our shower did not work nor did the toilet) and depressing...Don't bother wasting your money or SPG points here...
Rated 1 out of 5 by KrisB29 Room for improvement
No mention of a hotel/airport shuttle on the website, so I ended up paying more for a Speedi-Shuttle. Waited 2 hours for my room and was assigned a tiny room with peeling wallpaper and rusting bathroom fixtures. Food service is expensive buffet style only. Loud band by the pool every evening made reading or sleeping impossible.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Joyous55 SUPRISED
The reason I picked this hotel was I had a great experience my last visit.
I was scheduled to stay here 3 nights, I checked out after one bad night,.
It took me 45 minutes to check in, there was no SPG counter open, it remained closed for the remainder of the day.
The first room I was in had bugs around the baseboard, I requested a new room, and I was not happy with it either. I checked out the next day.

This hotel is not up to Sheraton standards. The room we were given has not been refurbished since the 70's.Totally unacceptable.Air conditioning was bearly working. The checkin process took over one hour. They told us room not ready but they meant the room in the old tower not ready.Other people were coming up and getting into their room but we had to wait till the worst room in the hotel was ready.Great way
To treat a SPG member. This whole experience has turned us off Sheraton!

OMG I cant believe this is a Sheraton property, it is old, wall paper peeling from the walls, furniture old and scuffed up, walls in bad shape, no vent fan in bathroom, which is too small, the carpets olds, it is just plain run down, no wi-fi in my tower when I asked to move they said my room I would move to would not be as nice as this one REALLY how could it get any worse, there is so much dust in the old yellowed electrical outlet that my fridge is plugged into I am worried about fire. the pool is way to small and it closes at 6pm, in Hawaii when it is always warm and you are out sightseeing durning the day you want to come back and cool down in the pool, no can do, and all I got for my Gold card: a free drink. I just cancelled my up coming reservation with them and booked else where, dont bother the location is nosiey and not worth it...my recommedation, look else where!

AA made the booking for me due to flight delay. I arrived at the property at 3AM & been up for 24hrs. The main check-in staff was very sympathetic of the situation I was in but still tried to verify what rules that would apply for this kind of room booking for SPG Platinum. A second check-in staff joined her; she was inconsiderate and even tried to hold the check-in process. I had to stop her talking for I was extremely tired, yet she kept blabbing. Eventually, the first person, who was responsible for my check-in, gave the key card and directed me to the elevator. The next day, I spoke with the Concierge manager, who could only be apologetic to the situation. However, action has more meaning than just apologetic words. This was my first time to stay in a room booked by an airline. Unfortunately, the choosing of this property was based on my insistence to AA and as a loyal SPG customer. The room was not for free and I brought in business to this property. I deserved better treatment, not like someone who was begging for special treatment. I was extremely tired, needed rest and not to be treated with inconsideration. I own a business and I always treat nicely all my customers regardless of who is paying the bill. This hotel is over rated and its Category 5 status is a complete deception to customers. The room I stayed in is comparable to a motel room.
