Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location, bar service needs improving This hotel is clean and comfortable in an excellent downtown location. I have stayed here before and will stay again. This visit however I had a negative experience in the lobby bar. In the evening the bar and seating were very crowded, this was not the problem however. My friend wanted a glass of wine and we did not know what wines were available by the glass. Since the staff was very busy I saw what looked like a stack of wine menus in the service area at the end of the bar, so I went to retrieve one. As I made my way there, barely two steps, a very curt young female server stormed in behind me and asked if she could help me. I indicated that I was looking for a wine menu. She told me that the wine menus were brown and that they were located on each table. The stack of what appeared to be wine menus, which were actually guest checks, were also brown and look similar to the wine lists, at first glance. As I mentioned, the bar was very full and I did not feel comfortable reaching over people that I did not know in order to retrieve a wine list. I felt the server was very rude and definitely put me in my place. I have managed restaurants, bars and hotels for over 20 years, so I understand not wanting guests to be in the service area, but she could have definitely handled this differently. Instead of offering to locate a wine list for us, she just pointed out to the very full bar seating area. I specifically asked if we should just get one from a table and she confirmed that is what she intended for us to do. We ended up waiting at the bar for a bartender to help us and he was able to provide a wine list so that we could make a decision. March 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Surpassed all Great Expectations I Had! I had such a wonderful stay and experience at the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous with great views of the city and mountains and the staff from multiple departments was superb! I was greeted numerous times by even your housekeepers in the corridors. Though everyone was very accomodating, welcoming and friendly, the star by far came from an unexpected place for me; ordering room service! The young ladies name was Lisa. She was very friendly and was more of a room service concierge rather than someone who was taking an order. She is the epitome of great customer service, you feel her smile through the phone, and with her demeanor you can tell she takes great pride in her works and is someone who is certainly going to do well and exceed expectations in what ever department she represents. I will definitely be back to this hotel. Congratulations to you Mr. Ehmann, on having a great team! I also wanted to commend the Chef on such a great menu. Many hotels restaurant menu are very lackluster, however that is not the case here and the food not only via room service but also in the restaurant , was out of this world; kudos! November 9, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by All was good, except... the room was great, but when i got in from my holiday party, i put in an order for room service for some food around 1AM. I called in to submit it, confirmed my room number. they told me the wait time was about an hour, and i was fine with that, sense it was late, and there were a lot of people coming in from the holiday party. so an hour and a half roles by and still no knock from room service, i called to check on my order, they said that "they just left i wouldn't be surprised if they where at your door now." so i waited for another half hour. called again then was told that an order was never submitted, at this point i was frustrated, so i didn't even bother. my guest still wanted food. so about 15 min later i placed another order for the same thing. got the same wait time, about an hour. and it actually came! So over all the hotel itself great, but being told i never placed an order two hours after i placed an order, or not even being told about the error when i first called, in makes me think the staff maybe needs some help. i was thinking about using Sheraton for my new years trip to San Diego, Ca, but i'm going to reconsider it now.
