Upon check in, the friendly clerk noticed that this stay was going to elevate me to SPG Platinum and immediately extended the Platinum benefits to me. It wasn't necessary but his gesture was very much appreciated since I am a long time SPG member. Many thanks for going above and beyond.

It is very important that Sheraton stop the solicitation in the bar. I was approached by 2 women. Even though I said no-thank you, they stayed in the bar and were looking for other opportunities. I expect more from Sheraton. The work staff did nothing to remove them from the restaurant.

I have stayed numerous times in the Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel and most likely I will return the next time I am in Shanghai. Great Hotel, friendly and caring staff, nice rooms for a reasonable price. The only improvement which this hotel needs is its pool, spa and fitness center.

I had stayed over 40 times at this hotel, Hongqiao Sheraton. Even though a older property, it has the traditional hospitality and, more importantly, great staff in Club lounge. This is why I chose to stay here so many times, more than any other SPG hotels (also excellent) in Shanghai.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shimakko Sheraton Hongqiao Shanghai made me feel home!!
I have been a guest of Sheraton Hongqiao Shanghai for 18 years, since it was " Westin Hotel" in 1990s. The hospitality of Sheraton always releases me from home sick. Whitout any doubt, Sheraton Hongqiao Shanghai is always my top choice upon my business trip

This is one of those hotels that puts the chain of hotels to disgrace. The staff was not ready for my check in. I chose this hotel because my flight would arrive late in Hongqiao and could rest early, instead it took me a while for the staff to find the right room for me. I was even offered a smoking room which i declined. My booking was made way before my check-in, this situation happens only to China managed hotels, not for international chains. Then i was given a suite room with 2 doors, the key can only access one side and it took me a while the next day to get someone to open it for me since i locked one and came out on the other door. The lady who came up to open the door had a very positive attitude though, i would commend her on that. Wasnt able to get her name though. I would advise those who checks in to this hotel to carry your own luggage as it will take eons for them to deliver. This is what happened to me at least until i called to follow up. Hotel is old, but what I was disappointed in was the service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nakane41 This hotel lets me feel at home
All the staff at this hotel are well trained and experienced, therefore care to guests is not intentional. Whenever I say in hotel in China atttitude of housekeepers is good measure for me to evaluate the training level of the hotel. House keepers are all friendly.

Basically checking in and out is very easy, but this time I found the toilet facilities not working well as well as the TV remote. I also had lunch there at 11:50 and there was only 8 people in the restaurant but needed to wait more than 30 mins for Fish and chips.

This hotel is showing it's age. I was expecting a nice Sheraton but the rooms, although comfortable, were sparse. Internet usage is charged by the minute. When questioning the charge in the morning, the clerk got angry and acted annoyed, the manager was no better.

I have been staying at this hotel for about 12 months, on a long term basis, and can honestly say that the hotel will listen to suggestions and go the extra mile to meet your specific requirements. Not once have my requests or suggestions not been taken seriously.

the hotel location is ok. The Executive lounge is below expectation, nothing much for the choice.
the room is dated & the bed is so small, just queen. No enjoy it.
The F&B seem expensive & the Japanese restaurant service not that friendly beside the host.

The hotel is clean and convenience to the downtown. Besides, the food offered during the breakfast has great variety and with good quality. Certainly, if the hotel group can shuttle bus between Ningbo Sheraton and Hongqiao Sheraton, it will be perfect.

I think the room is quite small and old design. Although I was upgraded from deluxe to upper level room, the design and facility in the room is almost the same. The lighting also make me feel uncomfortable and feel like living in 3 stars hotel.

This is the most unique Sheraton i've ever seen. Everything here is just too good to be true, the desgin is classic and tasteful, the staff here is quite well trained and elegant. In short, this is a very decent hotel and well maintained.

Rated 4 out of 5 by transienttraveler Decent hotel for business
I have been coming back to this hotel for a number of short trips in these two years. I wouldn't say this is one of the better Sheraton hotels I've stayed in but there are some good things about it. Some of the staff are friendlier (the housekeepers are the friendliest!) than others and go out of their way to make things better. E.g., the lady manager in the Chinese restaurant who would always make an effort to request the chef to use less oil and salt when cooking for me. It's also nice to be given a complimentary upgrade. And it's a thoughtful gesture to make available a fruit basket at the elevator area daily. While the rooms are older, the housekeepers do a good job of keeping them clean. It would have been even better if there are rooms with showers. Not everyone likes to climb in and out of a bathtub. There are also plenty of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, and it is easy and quick to get to/from this hotel from/to the Hongqiao airport and train station, although it is a little far from the Pudong airport (and understandably so).
Some suggestions though:
a) It may be helpful if the chefs for the breakfast buffet could do some benchmarking with other spg hotels. Somehow the food selection, quality and presentation do not quite appeal to regular travelers like me.
b) Would the security staff be able to monitor the CCTVs for smokers flouting the non-smoking rule on non-smoking floors and stop them from doing so as soon as feasible please? Or at the very least, could the hotel remove the ash trays from the non-smoking floors' elevator areas to deter the smokers or have someone periodically sanitize these common areas please? I have a sensitive respiratory system and it is very uncomfortable having to put up with the stale smell of old cigarettes, let alone having to come face to face with smokers who blatantly sit comfortably on the public sofas provided and smoke for an extended period of time while I wait for the not-so-fast elevators.
