The reason we stayed at Sheraton Hong Qiao is the proximity to our office.

Had been staying in this hotel for quite a number of times this year due the its location. But this summer I realised the air conditioning wasn't working well (room 1814). Hopefully it will get fix soon.

This is one of those hotels that puts the chain of hotels to disgrace. The staff was not ready for my check in. I chose this hotel because my flight would arrive late in Hongqiao and could rest early, instead it took me a while for the staff to find the right room for me. I was even offered a smoking room which i declined. My booking was made way before my check-in, this situation happens only to China managed hotels, not for international chains. Then i was given a suite room with 2 doors, the key can only access one side and it took me a while the next day to get someone to open it for me since i locked one and came out on the other door. The lady who came up to open the door had a very positive attitude though, i would commend her on that. Wasnt able to get her name though. I would advise those who checks in to this hotel to carry your own luggage as it will take eons for them to deliver. This is what happened to me at least until i called to follow up. Hotel is old, but what I was disappointed in was the service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shimakko Sheraton Hongqiao Shanghai made me feel home!!
I have been a guest of Sheraton Hongqiao Shanghai for 18 years, since it was " Westin Hotel" in 1990s. The hospitality of Sheraton always releases me from home sick. Whitout any doubt, Sheraton Hongqiao Shanghai is always my top choice upon my business trip

Great location when you visit west shanghai. It's on near Yan An West Road one of the big road.
The staff was very kindful.
The facility such as bathroom needs to be remodeled cause it is a little old fashioned but all functions are good.
I will come back again when I have a chance to visit shanghai.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Culture74 All good about this hotel except Wifi
Wifi is free for Platinum but I have to login every now and then. The wifi login page sometimes pop up in the midst of my work.
For my room wifi coverage is limited to the area around the window. I end up having to stand around the windows to get good signals. Called up the hotel folks in the late evening to fix that and they promised to show up next morning at 9.30am but didn't see them for rest of my stay.
Wish the hotel can fix this problem before my next stay with them.

I've stayed at this Sheraton many times it was truly disappointing when I was not even recognized as a Platinum member. It was even worst when my SPG preferred room had very poor Wifi. It was shocking to actually receive a better Wifi signal from the hotel next door. So in the middle of the night when I realized that my Wifi didn't work. The front desk suggestion was to move rooms in the middle of the night to another room. Next day - during checkout no one acknowledge the problem and apologized. Very Disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DCDC27 Restaurants do not honor their opening hours, tell patrons to "Go elsewhere"
I have to be fair and say what's great about them, and what's not great about them.
Check-in staff was friendly, immediately recognized SPG Gold. Check-out was fast and efficient. A
Room is in excellent condition. House-keeping doing good job refilling what you have used up. A
However, that's where the greatness of this hotel ends. Someone told me this hotel is in one of the upscale area of Shanghai, this is why I've chosen to stay here this time, but never again. Now the bad...
First day wanted to cut my hair, so visited the Salon on the 5th floor. Told to sit and then 5 minutes later told that the person has taken an unexpected leave to Pudong. This is no big deal in of itself, but this Is the beginning of this hotel's facilities' inability to provide service in posted opening hours.
First night didn't return to the hotel until 9:50 p.m. Asked the concierge person if the Japanese restaurant is still open. Was told specifically that "yes, they will take last order till 10 p.m." Went up the elevator, and was greeted with "sorry, we're close." No big deal, it is already 9:55ish, so went back to my room to order Room Service.
Second night, made sure to rushed back from my work, it is around 9:30-9:35 p.m. Went up to the Japanese restaurant, and was told by the lady standing there, "sorry, last order gone, go elsewhere." Unbelievable! She's telling me to go away at 9:30 p.m. when the restaurant's posted opening hours is till 10 p.m.! Ask about why the sign said 10 p.m., she just ignored me. Unbelievable, this is Sheraton I'm staying in???
Hungry, I was in no mood to argue, quickly ran outside to eat at a local Korean BBQ restaurant, also posted 10 p.m. closing time, but they have no problem letting me in and sit and eat.
I have never had a restaurant turning away patrons before posted closing time, and this Sheraton left a really foul taste in my mouth. There are plenty of great Sheratons/SPG brands in Shanghai, until this situation is changed, I would not recommend it.

It is a hotel close to all the places I needed to visit. It offers a clean room to any one at an affordable rate. It has a good gym and spa. The free breakfast was good as well as the free Internet connection was good. Wi-Fi worked seamlessly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by mrk29 This is a favourite hotel of mine
It is, but this trip, I was somewhat dissappointed. Although I was upgraded to a suite, there was no walk in shower in either of the 2 bathrooms. At the executive lounge, at the evening cocktail hour, the selection was very limited and at one time, I told the waitress that the red wine had finished and she said there was no more available!!!

I stayed one night in early March. Check-in was smooth and quick. Room nice and clean. Bathroom, now thats another story: ugly slippery tub and very small basin (water splashes out when used).
Went to the sauna and steam room. Very good hot sauna. After sauna decided to take a shower. Only one working shower and the area smelled of sewage.... extremely disgusted I cam down to inform a manager, was given the customary yes yes yes..... anyway no action taken, even next day..
Walked back from dinner at 8:45pm and was propositioned inside the hotel lobby, politely declined. Yet again was propositioned by another while waiting for the elevator.............seriously Sheraton...... are you now offering.............
Informed about this episode to the Manager and another Manager (of Japanese decent). Yet till today after 2 months not a single word of apology...

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chaidog "A" hotel for China
I stayed at numerous hotels in China throughout a month long trip and this rated as the 2nd best out of about 7 hotels total. The staff spoke English extremely well and asked for my SPG membership when checking in.
Extremely comfortable bed and the most English channels of any Chinese hotel I was out as well.
Unfortunately, same plague as *EVERY* other hotel I stayed out in China in that air conditioning is sporadic.
Breakfast buffet had a massive variety, pastries and bacon delicious, fried rice was far too dried out but since it was my last night in China I didn't each much so this was forgivable. I have no doubts they would've fixed if I'd asked because the staff was so helpful and friendly.
