From the surly Front Desk Manager to the very tired rooms, I was very disappointed in the quality of the hotel and staff. I would not recommend this hotel.

Hotel is fine for a night or two. As a PLAT, I was put right next to club lounge. No one should be in that room as folks are in and out of there all night with the door slamming.
Room was Fine. Club lounge was average. Carpet in halls bobbling up. They need a Reno and in fact, I hear they're reflagging this hotel as a Le Meridien (still SPG). Higher end.

Rated 1 out of 5 by BoozeTraveler In desperate need of UPDATING
We had a flight in from San Juan back to CA and stayed here one night for the proximity to the FLL airport. There was a free shuttle and that's where the good ends. This hotel is in severe need of an update. Not only is it dated, it's dingy and has horrible HVAC system.
We had to switch rooms because of the smell of our first room. The front desk was fairly helpful and moved us immediately. The second room was an improvement.
They have a Club Lounge but the room reeked of mildew. I do NOT recommend thiis hotel. Stay at a newer one even if it isn't a Starwood property.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: I chose this property because of the proximity and convenience of the airport location and the availability of a complimentary shuttle, however, in actual fact, I waited more than an hour for a shuttle which is promised to pass every twenty minutes. I was pressed for time and four calls to the hotel did not succeed in getting the promised shuttle pick-up.
SPG RECOGNITION: Very sweet reception staff put on the VIP treatment. Category upgrade. Lounge access.
THE ROOM: Standard Sheraton decor could use an update.
LOCATION: Virtually on the airport premises. Not convenient to the beaches.
EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS: After my issue with the shuttle, the FOM was extremely accommodating in refunding the cost of a taxi and covering the cost of the meal which I subsequently missed because of my delay. He also offered a bonus points compensation, however, the amount granted was half of what he had actually mentioned and when I queried this by mail, I received no response.
DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS: The pool area is quite unattractive and could stand some upgrading and some tropical landscaping.
ONE THING TO KNOW: Fort Lauderdale is small enough and the airport close enough to town that, unless the price warrants, there really is no need to stay at an airport hotel.Apparently quite convenient for cruisers heading to the port though.

First time at this hotel. I felt the room was much nicer than the Sheraton Plantation nearby. Friendly service.
Room was nice, bed was comfortable. pool area was nice to sit by in the evening.
Lounge room was a converted room so kind of small but good for a snack or drink.
