Rated 3 out of 5 by jechho Decent enough, but breakfast a let-down
Perfectly decent hotel for a quick stop over. Free parking. Close to Chapel Hill downtown. Nothing luxurious here, and especially the breakfast in restaurant was weak (out of yogurts, very dry pancakes, limited selection, ice cold locale). Good fitness room, but one of the thread mills was not working. Nice looking pool, but at 7pm there was a lot of leaves etc. in it, and we skipped the dip we had planned. Plumbing seemed old, and there was an intense noise in the room from either below or next to us when they used their water which kept me awake from 6am. The fridge was a nice amenity, but it was also very noisy and had to be switched off at night. OK room size, but only one bed lamp & table to share in rooms wih two double beds.

We were met and treated professionally and with courtesy.
The person at the receptionist desk did her best in locating a comfortable room at a reasonable price.

Stayed over on July 4th in room 422. Check in was very slow as a couple of people checking in ahead of me had never stayed at the hotel and the woman at the front desk (to her credit) was very thorough. She did apologize for the wait. Given the physical configuration of the hotel, suite upgrades are basically non-existent, although the Club Lounge was open despite the holiday. The rooms are generally comfortable, and have been renovated, but are on the smaller side. The fitness room is adequate, and wifi is free. The hotel is very convenient to Chapel Hill and Durham, with lots of shopping and dining options nearby.

It was disappointing that every room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. It cost more to have those in your room. As a SPG member some rooms had free bottles of water while others did not. Honestly, it's just the little things that would not make this a perfect place to stay.

The room was welcoming. It was a sweltering day and when I opened my room door, it was so cool (air conditioning) I was very pleased. All of the amenities that you could ask for. Thank you

Checked in on a Sunday evening. Platinum status was acknowledged, but given the older "bones" of the hotel, there isn't much the staff can do upgrade-wise. I would note that I do not need the front desk referring to me by my first name -- too friendly for someone I do not know and far from professional. My room was comfortable and the recent renovations are reasonably well done, but the rooms are definitely cozy. That said, the AC worked well, as did the wifi service. However, the fire detector was missing from the wall, and the shower ran noticeably cold (although the sink was fine). Best advantage is proximity to UNC, Franklin Street, Duke, etc.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Missy27 Sadly Disappointed
I have been staying at this property for 12 years and am sadly disappointed that my last 4 visits have been less than stellar. I am not looking for rock star status but it would be nice to be recognized as a lifetime Platinum at check in, particularly since the same person checked me in on the last 4 visits. I did not get the requested room and no one made an effort to correct the errors. The attitude from the front desk was "oh well", sorry. I checked out early and will not be back again. Also, the rooms have been renovated but there is still much improvement needed: the a/c units are noisy;my door did not close properly on one of my visits; fixtures were missing on lights and sprinkler heads( a hole in one ceiling); plumbing leaks and electrical problems.More attention should be paid to engineering issues when renovating, rather than just esthetics.
