Rated 3 out of 5 by Redbirdma Time for an upgrade
This hotel is conveniently located near, but not in, the Sonoma Valley. The staff is gracious, helpful, and accommodating in every way. Unfortunately the rooms don't live up to SPG standards. The carpet was badly stained and the furniture was chipped and clearly in need of replacement. It's too bad that the room quality doesn't live up to the first-rate staff.

The room was just okay. The bedding was nice but we wish there were queen beds.
The beds were quite small. The pool has a view of the freeway as do many bedrooms.
The restaurant is small with not much variety in the menu. The lobby is tastefully decorated
and the desk clerks were friendly. It is the best place to stay in Petaluma as most others are your standard economy motel. Improvements could be made to make it even better!

This is my first time to stay in this hotel, and I must say, my stay was very pleasant. The staff was able to check us in early and was even able to accommodate my friend's request for a room with a marina view and on the same floor where I was. The lobby was beautiful and our room was nice. I had a view of the marina, too! Being a techy, I enjoyed their free and fast Wi-fi connection and the fact that I could control their tv with my mobile phone! The fridge in the room was convenient for having a late snack at night and I love the availability of the safe in the room for my valuables. Located in the quiet city of Petaluma, it was very convenient indeed that the hospital where I was assigned was less than 2 miles away from the hotel. My only area for improvement was that our hotel card key, for some reason, was always getting demagnetized. I tried to keep it away from my cellphone, but it would not work on the club lounge door and my hotel room. I had to have it changed twice. Other than that, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, making my business trip a truly pleasurable one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gubh The place to stay if you want comfort and courteous staff
The room was very clean. I slept wonderfully as the bed was very comfortable, but what impressed me the most was the complimentary bottle of wine for my tenth stay there. That was a very classy move on their part. I would recommend this hotel. Also their staff was very courteous and helpful. Way to go Sheraton Petaluma!

Rated 1 out of 5 by StarwoodGuest AWFUL - This review is 100% True
- Their "Suite" is actually a partition door that does not shut out light or sound.
- There are no valet, or bellman at this hotel. Must carry your own bags. Need a cart? Push one yourself to the parking lot to unpack your car.
- We waited 5 min to be acknowledged by the front desk.
- Waiter served me coffee in a mug with a solid red lipstick crescent
- NO INTERNET FOR 3 SOLID DAYS. Got it working for a few minutes, speed test showed near zero upload/download. Not good for business travelers. Cell service is spotty too so you're basically offline.
- Maids aren't trained in hospitality. "Can you turn down my room while I'm out?" "I don't know I'll have to ask my supervisor"... Uhhh okay.
- Need a front desk agent? You can find them out front (like, directly out front in the portico) smoking and talking on their cell phone.
I am Starwood Gold and I've seen Starwoods all over. I can only guess it's a franchised Sheraton with bad management? No one has a clue about hospitality. Terrible place.

I'd booked a room at a different hotel and was appalled at the condition of the room. It was after midnight, but when I called to see if there was any availability at the Sheraton, Bob, the front desk manager, quickly helped me book a room. He was kind enough to upgrade the room and had someone help me with my bags. His compassion for my experience and efficient handling of the reservation made a big difference for me. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Had a great stay!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Brad98125 Good stay in area with limited options
I stay here regularly on business and have been generally satisfied. One issue is the late afternoon happy hour, which is popular, and if you don't arrive right at the beginning - or wedge yourself into the crowd around the bar - the service is slow and inattentive. Last visit after a long wait I finally got served by staff from the adjoining restaurant. My suggestion is that Sheraton adequately staffs the lounge or eliminate happy hour. I'd prefer to pay full price for a higher level of service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CS1063 Lovely hotel!
I started my stay in Sonoma County at a different hotel and quickly transferred to the Sheraton. The hotel is wonderful. My only suggestion is for those of use that rise and depart early and want coffee (not in our room) - there is no option. Starbucks in-house opens later and has a very small offering and the restaurant opens later as well. Lobby coffee would really have made the stay perfect!

It always feels like I am coming home when I arrive at the Sheraton. The front desk staff are excellent and greet you by name. I really don't know how they keep everyone straight but they always greet returning guests by name. Throughout the hotel, the staff always acknowledge you, no one is too busy checking their emails and text...a rarity of late.
I always enjoy my rooms and really appreciate the upgrades.
Betty and Mike at the evening club lounge are out of this world and make the lounge very welcoming. They both go above and beyond. I am sure the Sheraton appreciates their loyalty and attention to detail.
The only thing I can comment on that needs improvement is the timely opening of the lounge in the am when one particular person is working (the young blonde) who has been late on several occasions.
So except for her; I'd say Sheraton is excellent. We recommend it to all of our travelers coming to the area.

We were only there for one night on our way to Russian River Wine touring but were very pleased with the room and food in the dining room. We also had a drink in the bar and found the prices and selection to be good. It is conveniently located right off the 101.

Room on 3rd floor overlooking the marina was clean, well maintained and up to date. The exterior on the marina side was filthy with bird droppings and the marina itself appears to be on "hard times". There is no outdoor area other than the small fenced outdoor pool enclosure where you relax outside. The lobby area appears to have been recently remodelled but the chairs in the bar/lounge area were filthy and many needed to be thrown out. We used the hotel as our base for a 3 night visit to Napa/Sonoma....hotel was a 20-30 minute drive minimum to anywhere we wanted to go and not as convenient as we had hoped.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Natalie Frequent Stayer - Covered Windows
I am a very frequent stayer at Starwood properties (it's April and I already have 60+ nights this year). When I arrived at the hotel to check in, they did not have a room available for me, but the people in front of me, for some reason, did. But that's fine. What was unbelievable was, at my first stay in the region, my window was completely blocked by plastic paper. I barely got natural light and I had NO view. I would have NEVER booked this hotel had I known, there was not a warning and the front desk would not change my room. I will not be staying at this hotel again, and my experience was unacceptable. I cannot believe I got no notification in advance of my stay.
I should NOT have had to pay my full rate.

It was my 5 year anniversary and decided to go to Wine Country. I booked through Visa Signature and Delta Vacations based on their recommendations. We absolutely loved it! Everyone at the Hotel made us feel right at home. When they found out it was an anniversary trip, they sent up a bottle of Champagne on the house, upgraded to club lounge and anything we needed they took care of. I cant remember all their names but I do remember Jason and Mike (there were plenty more that made this trip so memorable). Thank you to the hotel staff for making this such a memorable experience!

I just had the most amazing wedding weekend ever in Sonoma and couldn't have asked for any more from the staff here. We blocked rooms over a year ago and the sales office kept us up to date throughout the year. Thank you Shan. We had over 60 guests checking in and thanks to Micah at the front desk, he handled every ones need in a professional and expeditious manner. He made sure everything was running smooth until the day I checked out. Thank You Micah. If you're looking for a place to stay while you visiting wine country you wont be disappointed .

Rated 1 out of 5 by Trypy Watch Out For The Pricing
Unfortunately I needed to stop in this area on a long trip, and went I went to the counter to get the price it was $179 for the night. I quickly pulled up the website on my phone and it was only $139! They refused to match it, and when I said I'd just pay for it on my phone they pushed me not to do it saying I'd have to wait around for half an hour or more for the reservation to show up in their system - which is less than ideal at 10pm at night.
I had to stay there and get some rest, but as a frequent traveling I will never again visit Sheraton.

Rated 2 out of 5 by tom1946 It was awful
We were in room 170. At 7am in the morning a group of rowdy demonstrators were outside our window and woke us up.. We called the front desk and they refused to call the police. I called the police and they never came as it turns out the demonstrators were your union people. We went to the lobby to go to breakfast and had to wear coats at breakfast because the front desk would not close the front doors the union had opened. We feel the front desk should have told us in advance that there would be union people demonstrating at 7am so we could have made other arrangements. You people shoudl be ashamed. I asked to be called by your manager which never happened. Actually I do not blame her as we know there were other cranky guests who were very nice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Carzcar Inferior room.
We have stayed at this property previously and felt that it was the best choice for the area. This weekend we reserved an upgraded room to find that the 'upgrade' was about 25 sq ft of bar area. The tv remote didn't work consistently and the a/c fan ran only at high - all night long. The price was astronomical and we expected at least a sitting area. One would pay that amount for a room in San Francisco, not Petaluma (chickens and cows, don't try to sell me on wine country). Totally disappointed and will not be returning.

Petaluma is a worthy destination in itself! We are in the Food and Bev industry and my Gal and I were here to tour the wine country. We chose Petaluma for it's proximity and the ability to use Starpoints and cash. The property was fine, well maintained and had a very helpful staff. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, the Marina view was great . Do take in the Town of Petaluma, GREAT restaurants, arts, and architecture, it's completely charming. Not a four star hotel, but a good 3+ and a super location.

Hotel was beautiful to look at but stay wasn't up to expectations.TV wouldn't turn on. Smoke detector over the bed had a red light flashing the entire night which may not bother other people but drove me a bit crazy. One woman working the bar and there was about 30 people there.Flew in to SFO, drove almost an hour to hotel, and the ride was shorter than the length of time it took to order chicken fingers and receive them. At least she was really really nice!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Melynn Wonderful stay - great location!
From the moment we walked in - it was wonderful. Lots of free parking, beautiful lobby with an efficient and friendly desk staff. Couple that with a complimentary wine tasting (Tasting Tuesday - great day to check in!). Our room overlooked the marina, was clean and the bed was comfortable. Petaluma is a great little town - our first visit - and we enjoyed the restaurants recommended by the staff. We will def. return to this hotel.

At first glance, you may not like this hotel. The architecture is a little unusual.
The check in process is easy and it's the BEST choice of hotels in the Petaluma area. The hotel is conveniently located near town. The rooms are sizable. They have a good workout facility and a nice little pool. My wife and I found the place to be "charming."
When you check in, they recognize your elite status.
Overall is was great!

The hotel is a good location and had a great Club Lounge. The common areas were dirty! The carpet needed to be vacuumed. There several trash cans in the hallways that were full of trash. Complained about the trash but it was not addressed. In the room the grout in the tile floor was dirty and needs to be steam cleaned and sealed. Found hairs in the bath tub.
This facility was not the standard that was expected.

This Sheraton is one of the nicest I have stayed in. The staff was very friendly (specially Chef and Kayla), and the location is awesome. It is located right on the Petaluma Marina, as well as the Petaluma marsh.
The room I had, on the club level, was very spacious and had nice views of the area.
The restaurant and lounge were very good, with good service nad a fantastic selection.

The front desk did not greet with SPG status and could not answer questions regarding local area. The new gym filled with fresh paint smell and a broken air conditioning. After the complaints, air conditioning was still not functioning the next day. The temporary club house, which had one sofa, a big screen TV, a few folding chairs and 3 cans of Coke, was depressing.

Room not ready @ check-in (4pm); either no one answers the phone at front desk or I was constantly put on hold; my room was on 3rd floor-- maid told me to go to 2nd for ice (on my way to the elevator I found the ice machine on 3rd floor); no drain stopper in bathtub; breakfast was missing listed ingredients from the menu.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RobInHood2013 Great stay - problems with reservation
I’ve been coming/staying here at the (Petaluma) Sheraton every week since July for work and will continue pretty much between now and March 2014. Love your hotel and staff. I always receive great service and have a great stay with only one exception. When I booked the room for this trip I reserved it under the Clover Stornfield ($115) rate as I always do. The delivered bill was for a higher rate ($145) so I brought it to a gentleman working front desk to get it adjusted. He told me I had been booked in a higher room which is why they charged me a higher rate. When I brought up that I had booked as I always do and had not requested any upgrade he basically told me there was nothing he could do and I could check with the manager on duty (Mike) when I return (i.e. this week). Frankly if the room was an upgrade from the rooms I usually stay in I didn’t notice. It was facing the parking lot and I didn’t notice any difference in size or any other features so equally confusing re higher rate in any case. Bottom line – not very happy with how this was handled.

Service in restaurant was slow mid-morning of 12/26. The chef took our order AND delivered our breakfast. He and the food were excellent! Host apologized for making us wait which was not too long. They were short-staffed and we understood...worth the wait.
