Rated 2 out of 5 by TimC340 If you need Internet to work, forget it.
I come to this hotel regularly. The staff are nice, the rooms ok - but very small above the 3rd floor, and there is NO soundproofing, and the AC is temperamental at best. The worst feature, however, is the Internet facilities - wifi or wired. If there was no Internet, ok - I could get it in a local restaurant. But there is - or at least, there's supposed to be. It will tantalise you by occasionally showing a connection, but you won't hold it long enough to achieve anything. This has been going on for 6 weeks now, and has been reported many times every day - and they do nothing. So, if you need reliable Internet during your stay, go elsewhere.

Im almost afraid to give a high review being I might have problems getting discounted SPG rooms but I think credit should be giving. This is the best Sheraton Brand i have every stayed at and there SPG recognition was over the top!

I've stayed in this hotel 3 times and have been impressed with the service on all levels: the front desk, maid service, in the bar, room service. Any request was quickly and graciously performed and I feel at home...whenever I return to Pasadena I will choose this hotel.

Hotel staff were very freindly and helpful. I arrived at the hotel early (8am) and although my room was clearly not ready they looked after my bags and called me when my room was ready.
Truely great service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dougontheroad Quirks to avoid
This is a very nice hotel, the staff are very attentive, and I will likely stay here again. But it has a few quirks to be aware of. I was surprised by my Starwood Preferred room (#125). Upon entering, there are five steps down from the corridor. The closet and bath are on the same level as the corridor and the bedroom is on a lower level. This makes the ceiling in the bedroom nice and high, but requires navigating steps all the time. The room has a large patio, but the patio, and the view from the room, look directly into a blank wall, giving the feeling of being in a basement (because the adjacent pool is up at the corridor level and the room is sunken). Not horrible for an overnight, "red-eye stay" with the curtains closed, but definitely not pleasant or inviting if you are in the room during the daylight hours. So be aware of this set of rooms. I am sure that other parts of the hotel are much nicer. Also, there isn't valet parking. The self-parking is very convenient, but it is in the same garage as the Pasadena Convention Center. If there is an event going on, parking can be scarce. And entering or leaving the garage can take considerable time if you happen to coincide with the end of an event.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Shoopy Pretty Weak for a Sheraton
The heating cooling unit was either very hot or very cold... no inbetween. And the sheets... they were bragging about the 300 thread count. I have bought sheets from Target that were more comfortable than these. It felt as though I was sleeping in a plastic bag. The hotel staff were robotically pleasant... and parking... well, at 1am, when I tried to go out to grab a bite, I was told by the parking attendant that I either needed to go back to the front desk to register for parking or pay a 15 dollar exit fee, and then repay the 15 fee again when I returned. What a pain to deal with at that hour of the morning. I would never recomend this property to anyone... nor will I ever stay at this Sheraton again!

Not sure if this is the case for all rooms but the one we were in had stained & threadbare carpets. Also, the ceiling in the shower was falling down. The lobby was nice but this hotel did not meet my expectations at all.

experienced another stay at the sheraton pasadena hotel on cordova street. you'll first notice the convenient location of this hotel. you are surrounded by old pasadena and the lake area. i was able to walk to wholefood market for my wine purchase. then, walked over to old pasadena for a downtown type shopping and restaurant grazing adventure. thirdly, walked over to the lake district with a varied shopping destination. all of this in one afternoon. need direction? your hotel staff will guide you to the many offerings of this grand old city.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JoniF If you can't say anything nice
Hotels are so use to giving guest compensation when they provide poor service or handle miscommunication between staff and hotel guests as if that will make your experience somehow better. Just provide a positive experience. Communicate with guest that there is no valet parking and don't leave the keys in the car for four hours in front of the hotel so that my car and it's content can be stolen. Overall, this hotel was not one that I will be returning to. There are a lot more choices in Starwood that are cleaner than this one.

A pre-paid reservation for two simple rooms with king beds should be no problem for a Starwood Hotel, right? Wrong. On arrival, we were told "there are no rooms". No apology, no upgrade, no voucher to move to the local Hilton.... After waiting an hour with no communication from staff, we were told the hotel was overbooked, as though it was our fault! Finally we were given two rooms with 2 doubles each (not what we reserved). Room 365 smelled of vomit - 271 was OK. I will never book a Starwood Hotel again - anywhere.

I attend an annual conference each a year. Last year my nice quite stay, that I look forward to, was ruined by dogs barking, people smoking, and partying in the halls. This year my room on the 4th floor was quiet, room service was good. Internet worked very poorly the first night and the second even with their technical support we were unable to connect. I count on internet, so this was disappointing. But to top off the stay I woke up with a spider bite on my face. Later found one on my leg. Yikes!!!

My reservation wasn't ready at 3:00 pm check in and we needed to get ready for a wedding at 4:00pm. Luckly our friends in the wedding let us use their room. Then we had to check our bags so we could go to the wedding. We were called at 5:00pm to receive our room so we had to go back to check in between the wedding and reception. This was all very inconvienent. The room also had a plugged up bathroom sink that smelled terrible.

Rated 2 out of 5 by rnwn This hotel had too many late check outs
We arrived after 2 long days of driving at 4:30 p.m. They offered us 2 double beds, instead of the king we asked for since they let too many guests have late check out. ( the excuse given). We were exhausted, and just wanted a nap before our evening engagement.
Also, the bathroom had only 2 bath towels. I was too tire to complain again, but for a high end hotel, we were very dissappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by cliff just sell the room even if it's defective
1. they offered me a paid upgrade to club level via email; no one knew anything about the offer or my written acceptance.
2. The TV in the room was inop. It turns out that they knew it when they placed me in the room. It was the third day of my stay before it got fixed. Only the independent repair guy cared if was done right. I had to remind the desk three times that it was still not working, they forgot.
3. The water on the bar was marked 'complimentary' when we checked in; next found out (on check out) that they remark the water $4 in 8 pt. type after the first day. Should you really have to check the current price of water every day?
4. In and out parking is $15 a day, how did they figure I owed the $55? The difference was credited, but really . . .
The end result of being well located is that a constant stream of people come to the hotel. They really don't need to deliver any service and they DO NOT.

The front desk was unmanned when I approached in the early pm. This is always offputting for a full service hotel.
When I came back at night, I had forgotten my room number. I showed a staff member my ID at the lobby and was annoyed to be told that there was no one under my name registered. I insisted and after closer scrutiny, she found me.
A party was in session when I pulled up at 9pm on a Saturday night. Music blarred onto the valet area but I didn't expect it to penetrate my room on the 5th floor until midnight. This 40 year old hotel is small and clearly not soundproof. It is too small to host events of this nature without disturbing its guests. I suggest that the management examine its mission statement for this hotel and decide if its primary directive is lodging or events.
The location is ideal to downtown Pasadena. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed.

If you choose to comply with being "green" & not requiring fresh towels & sheets, you will NOT get your room made up. Facility considers the card on your door to mean "do not disturb" and will not come to tidy up the room and make the bed!! Came back to a messy room. Expected the bed at least to be MADE, even with the same sheets!

Rated 4 out of 5 by gb5013 Two out of three nights were fine
The last night we stayed there were large parties of people who were drunk, loud and obnoxious about every hour in front of our room. One set at 3 AM were screaming and arguing. As a result we had about four hours of sleep. We were competing at a horse show and it was really unfortunate to pay over $1,500 in show fees and hotels to have the last day be so exhausting. We told the receptionist and his only comment was he'd heard there were lots of complaints throughout the night. Not even a cup of complimentary coffee was offered. Really unfortunate and won't stay there again. Parking is also ridiculously expensive.

The bed skirt was completely stained. It was a massive stain that I can not believe was missed. The staff was not very welcoming beside the front desk agent working the overnight shift the night of 01/17/14. He was able to squeeze me into a room for an extra night. I was very grateful for his help. During my second night there, I asked for extra creamer for my room at the front desk and they did not have any there. Sent me to the bar, and nothing there as well. I was as confused as the staff was. Very unorganized.

Rated 2 out of 5 by buko12345 needs improvement
First, the best part of this hotel was the front desk staff and the very attentive bell dept which operated the local shuttle. We used the shuttle numerous times and it was very convenient for getting to/from CalTech and the local gold line train station.
However, our room had a number of issues that distracted from what would have been a comfortable stay. And to be clear, our room was a Starwood preferred guest room. I'd hate to see a "normal" room. Here goes:
1) It was impossible to close the curtains completely, leaving a gap at the edge and light coming through all night.
2) They mounted some kind of network router under the desk for internet access. That's fine, but at night it gives off a bright green glow that added to the ambient in the room.
3) The carpet was torn in numerous places and in sad need of repair.
4) The toilet barely flushed. It had a painfully slow whirlpool motion that rarely took care of business on a single flush.
5) There is almost no counter area on the sink. Absolutely no place to put anything.
6) Shower water temp was very inconsistent.
7) The place smelled like smoke
8) The AC was very loud and literally shook the walls each time it cycled on or off. This alone made a restful night virtually impossible.
9) The TV had a limited set of channels, much less than I would have expected from a Sheraton.
10) The cottage cheese ceiling has to go.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Elvira The hotel was o.k. but not worth the money especially compared to other higher end hotels
This hotel is located near the Pasadena Convention Center, close to old town Pasadena shopping, good restaurants. The hotel is older but with newer redecorating...the lobby is nice with a small business center. A cafe is available, breakfast was good. A small lounge off the lobby is nice, cafe food available in the lounge..which we enjoyed.
The issues: * Club room (king bed) was clean/large, but a bit dated (and cottage cheese ceiling). The bed is very shakey with every turn. The bathroom was clean, but rather small. There was a scale in the bathroom...not sure I need to be reminded of my over indulgences while traveling...although others may appreciate the thought. Club lounge was o.k. We only stopped by in the evening and found food offered was of the usual fair...cheese, crackers, fruit etc and beer/wine. the offereings were not as nice as other Sheraton Club Lounges.
*Parking $15/night/self park/ sharing a parking structure with the Pasadena Convention Center.
*Internet access in room--$9.95 per device not per room. Free internet in Lobby. We have not be charged internet access at other Sheraton's or other high end hotels.
*Smell of smoke in cafe and lounge...noticed several people smoking directly outside front doors nearest the lounge and cafe...smoke is drawn in when door is open.
Overall, the value isn't there for the cost. Would only stay here again if attending a function at the Convention Center...which would be convenient...

Rated 3 out of 5 by CaptainScarlet SPG mean anything...?
Convenience to the Pasadena Convention Center is brilliant...park and forget the auto, fantastic...
Paid above normal rates (busy convention obviously)...even paid extra for the Club Floor (save some time with PM/AM nourishment)...
PM Club Lounge was less than mediocre (waste)...AM Lounge was just great (especially the staff member who was excellent)...
Here's my feedback...I cannot imagine that 100% of rooms were occupied with SPG Members (right?)...so why put an SPG Member (that's me) in a connector room, in the middle of the hallway, with a parking lot view...? I'm sure there's a logical reason (sold-out, I get it)...but really...just asking to be recognized as a loyal SPG Member for over 10 years...(even if it's not Gold or Platinum)...

This hotel needs a renovation. It's in a great location, but the rooms (esp mine) needs to be changed. The bathroom and closet are on a small landing level, and the rest of the room is on the lower level. There was one desk chair and one upholstered chair, and a giant king sized bed in this huge room. It was weird, and smelled a bit moldy. I love this location but the hotel needs fixing.

My wife and I had a great time in Pasadena. This property is in a great location and the property is well maintained. The only two areas of opportunity that I would draw attention to is the staff should be better versed in what the area has to offer and paying to park at the hotel was a bit over the top... I still managed to give this property 5 star rating because the staff was so nice and friendly! The resturaunt on site is also wonderful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MomTo3 Fantastic! We will stay here again!
We attend an event at the Pasadena Convention Center every year, but I had never stayed at the Sheraton until this year. I have to say that our stay was fantastic!! Check-in was a breeze, our room was ready right on schedule, it was clean and comfortable, and getting to the convention center was so easy... I don't know why I never stayed there before. I really only have one complaint. It is a smoke-free hotel, but there are places outside where people can smoke. I was unhappy with how much of the cigarette smoke from outside seems to linger in the entryways and elevators, following us from the parking garage levels, to the ground level floor, and all the way up to the 5th floor! I don't really think there is much the hotel could do other than move the smoking areas further from the doors...other than that one issue everything there is perfect!
