Rated 4 out of 5 by Avoid the breakfast buffet Mostly your typical (expensive) hotel breakfast buffet, but on two different days, the scrambled eggs were among the worst I've ever had. They were so bad I have to wonder if they used powdered eggs. December 18, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by great area and view but unknown room charge? great place, knowing not too far from downtown and right across airport. not the first choice cause they are renovating the patio for the lobby and parking area so there are quite some inconvenience. No bottled water for SPG gold platinum members though. Restaurant staff was very graceful to kids, so that is a big plus. Had checked out and got final bill... and somehow mysterious charges appears on the credit card bill?? December 18, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Conference Rooms Cold! Food expensive I enjoyed my stay with regards to my hotel room and the location is beautiful. I was there for a conference and found the rooms were VERY cold! I also felt the food in the resturants and roomservice were on the expensive side and didn't give much in the way of choices. Rated 2 out of 5 by I felt like I was on a hidden camera comedy show... Upon check in, I was being helped by a nice gentileman who seemed to know what he was doing. When he went to run my card, I found out that the bank had placed a hold on it because I had made a deposit back home just a few hours earlier and now was using it hundreds of miles away. The gentleman held the reservation while I went to call the bank and remove the hold. When I returned, he was busy with another customer, so I thought I would let the young woman help me...big mistake. You would have thought when I explained that there was a reservation on hold for me and that her co-worker had helped me, she would have asked him a question or two...but no. Instead, she put me in another room on the 11th floor. When I went upstairs to find my room, I instead found tape across the exit to the elevator! The floor was under construction! So I lugged my suitcases back downstairs and waited again for help. She was on the phone and finally asked the other person to hold. She then looks at me and says "did you need something?" I asked her if she knew she sent me to a floor under construction. She said no. A man appeared out of nowhere and looked at the room number and says she gave me a room in another hotel. I then tell her again that her co-worker had a reservation ready to go and may have already checked me into the room. I went thru the whole credit card hold debacle again. And then she asks "do you know who helped you?" There was only one other person working with her, approximately 5 feet from her! She asked to run my card AGAIN! I explained that she had already done that. She says she accidently put it under another customer's name?!? Then she tells me there are two customers with the same name as mine?!? To alleviate any further confusion, I gave her the card with the warning that I better not have two charges on my account. She told me she had already cancelled the other charge...the one she had accidently put on the other customer's account who had the same name as mine (hmmmm...could it be possible she was looking at the reservation her unfamiliar co-worker had made?). So, the next morning, I check my bank account and yes, I was charged twice...two holds for two separate but equal amounts for two rooms! So, as I'm checking out three days later, the gentleman behind the counter (another employee) is unable to print out my bill for me because, well, he couldn't find my record of being there! And then, to make matters worse, a manager calls me and says she doesn't know why she is calling me, only that she was told to call me. So, I go through everything again. She says she will email me the bill. Never heard from her again. When I return to work on Monday, I get a call from yet another manager. She also has no record or notes of why she is calling me, only that she needs to call me. I go through the story again. She told me that she would take care of everything. She moved my future reservations to a different Sheraton and apologized for everything I had been through. She even gave me her number to call if I have any more issues pop up on my next visit. Staff like this manager are the reason why the Sheraton maintains a good record. She went the extra mile to help me when everyone else just hoped the problem would correct itself. December 17, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice but needs upgrades Nice, clean, pleasant. Hotel service staff were very courteous and prompt. Bath items and bedding were of poor quality- needs upgrade to create a more luxurious experience. December 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely Satisfied Return Guest Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina consistently provides great service. The hotel recognizes return guests and SPG membership. The Front Desk and Club Lounge Staff provides diligent and friendly service. The Hotel is conveniently located near the SAN Airport yet worlds away in a great setting adacent to the harbor and waterfront. The view from the Club Lounge of San Diego Harbor and Downtown is spectacular. The hotel remains my home away from home when visiting San Diego. December 15, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beyond the Call of Duty I found the room very clean and comfortable. When I got to the airport and realized I'd left my keys in the room, the staff was extremely helpful in finding them and getting them to me in time for my flight. December 10, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Close to the airport Close to the airport therefore the rooms are noisy. Otherwise good hotel. December 10, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice stay I stayed at this hotel because the conference I was attending was hosted here. The experience was pleasurable and I was happy with all the accommodations. The view was great, but it is not located downtown and it's a 15 dollar taxi ride downtown. This isn't terrible but it isn't great either. December 10, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel under construction Checked in was not able to go into the front of hotel under construction had to park a long way away from side entrance, which was then a long way from lobby. Construction was noisy when trying to rest in late afternoon. Construction all around pool area as well. Play was unpleasant. December 10, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Deep in the construction Not expecting the construction with driveway and entryway torn out. There were no signs in front or instructions of where to go. That could be improved. Looking forward to returning when improvements are completed.. December 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by fantastic stay Great Resort, fantastic staff and excellent food. Perfect place to rest and relax, went with my family for shopping to San Diego and would choose again the Sheraton Marina. December 5, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Service at a Busy Conference This is a great conference hotel. The conference rooms were great and close to the main hotel. The technology worked well. The staff at the hotel from the people working the drop-off and parking to the housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient. They accomodated special requests if possible. This is one of the best conference facilities I've been at. December 5, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Concerned about the air quality I was looking forward to staying here for a conference; however, my stay, unfortunately, was underwhelming. The staff was as friendly and as helpful as possible. That said, my primary concern is the air quality of the hotel. Despite taking allergy medicine, I found staying at the hotel highly problematic. I had to constantly leave the hotel in order to breathe well and feel healthy. I highly encourage the hotel management investigate the air quality in the hotel and conference area (if the conference area is within their domain). I was also disappointed that my "bay view" consisted of a rooftop made of concrete. I could see the top of some downtown buildings; however, my view was not an aesthetically pleasing "bay view" as promised in my reservation. On a more positive note, I was very appreciative of the chefs' willingness to serve gluten-free food for those with auto-immune diseases such as celiac disease. Thank you! . December 5, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Alec1673 Construction in front was ridiculous. No signs or staff in front to direct me on how to get into the hotel. I was bringing refreshments for a conference and had no way of getting the items into the hotel other than wheeling them up a wheel chair ramp on the far side of the building. I expressed my dilemma to hotel staff and received no offer of assistance. Very disappointing. If it was not for the fact that the conference was being held at this hotel, I would not stay here. also loud construction noise in room. December 4, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Uncomfortable This is not a comfortable hotel. The room air conditioning is terrible, and it is too noisy outside to keep the balcony door open. There are few nearby dining options, and the ones that are there aren't very good (overpriced and below average quality). The line for coffee at the Starbucks inside the hotel could be 45 minutes, and there really were no options. The airport shuttle is great, though! December 4, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a great hotel! The hotel was wonderful! The room was comfortable, and the food was excellent! December 4, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed! We chose Sheraton because we've stayed at several and enjoyed our stays. The long-term parking also helped as we were going to be gone several days so we booked here for an overnight stay before our early 6 a.m. departure. Sadly we were assigned a room in the "Lanai" section. This was a very long way from the front desk, restaurants, etc and we were given the wrong directions to get there by front desk staff so it took us almost 20 minutes to find it. One of the maids finally had to show us the way. It was right across from some construction/renovation area and obviously it had not been used in some time as the clock was still on daylight savings time. It smelled horribly of mildew. We called from the room and were transferred to guest relations who wanted to send housekeeping to spray the room! Not wanting to experiment with that we asked for another room. When guest relations tried to transfer to front desk no one answered after about 10 rings. We then walked all the way back to the front desk, stood in line again and got another room finally. The person who helped us kept telling us how he was "upgrading" us which really didn't make it better - just a simple apology and a new room would have been fine. The room we were "upgraded" to was similar to the other room minus the odor and was in the tower instead of out in the lanai section so I'm not sure why we just didn't get that in the first place. Upon check out the next morning a manager with the checkout person and said he saw we had a problem. I explained what happened and he told the person to give us a $25 discount. That was very nice and his attitude was certainly better. December 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding Customer Service My family stayed at the Sheraton while our son graduated the Marine Corps at MCRD. We purchased a Marine Corp Challenge Coin for our son which we kept in the safe. When we arrived home and unpacked we couldn't locate the coin. We called and asked for help and Precious and Maureen helped us. The room was already occupied but called us back and found the coin (on the floor of the room) and shipped it back to us...Wonderful customer service! Thank you. December 3, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not enough bang for the buck The hotel is beautiful the beds are dreamy, but for the swankiness of the hotel is all you receive. If you are want more bank for your buck this may not be the hotel $22.00/day to park on a gravel parking lot, $11.95/day to have internet access in your room.Though there is free access on computers in the lobby, most people prefer to surf the net in their room. Even though you may get a deal on the room rate by the time they add in these little extras your cost per night is at least $130/ night. November 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Night Sleep After a long drive from Arizona we decided to stay at this location. From the minute we drove in to the shuttle that took us to the airport it was excellent service. The pub inside had great food awesome service and cold local beer. November 30, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Staff allowed loud party in room across hall We were very disappointed in our last night when staff allowed party in room 924. We were across hall and could hear other guests pleading with then to be quiet. People were walking around with open containers of alcohol and not letting anyone in that area of the hall sleep. The fact that the staff could not get things under control had us further question our safety. November 28, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by need thicker walls or somekind of sound proofing I stayed only one night for my after wedding stay brought a few guests back to my room not throwing a party jus talking and within ten minutes of being there got threatened by security for being too loud cuz are neighbor kept complaining even tho we were only there 20 min tops. Both security guards came up and were very rude after i was talking to them courtesly. I am a federal officer and know what's right and wrong they pretty much ruined my wedding night but the hotel manager helped us out and got us a temporary conference room so we could hang out for a couple hours . Thank god for him. As for the security that think there cops fyi ur not. To the Sheraton get security with more training and people skills call me and ill handle that for you as for the Sheraton staff and management you all did a fantastic job November 28, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by This was a return visit to this hotel I felt like I was on a mini-vacation with the grandchildren. I loved the view of the harbor/city/airport. Yes, my grandson liked watching the planes. It was wonderful to sit out on the balcony, drink a cup of coffee and watch the sunset. The pool was heated and the grandkids could swim on a cool evening. then we sat around the fire pit while they warmed up. November 27, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Club Level Lounge was extremely disappointing We have stayed many times at this hotel and had wonderful experiences. It is for this reason that we were so disappointed in our last stay. Our room was very loud and when we called the front desk to inquire about the noise the staff person at first claimed there was no noise. Once it was established that there was very loud construction outside very little effort was made to assist us. We should have been advised that there was construction so that we could have made a better decision about our room selection. Another disappointment was the club level - we paid extra for the club level because we have enjoyed the afternoon cocktails and appetizers. The food quality and quantity was very disappointing and one evening when we arrived about 45 minutes before the end of the speicficed time, the food was descimated. We asked staff if the food would be replenished, and she curtly informed us that there was very little time remaining, so what was there was it. Needless to say, this was not the service we were used to from this hotel. November 27, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by SPG rooms While the Sheraton Marina Tower is really beautiful and the staff attentive, the rooms reserved for SPG members are in great need of deep cleaning and some upgrading. They use flat sheets for the mattress (as opposed to fitted, like most hotels). The flat sheets come untucked very easily. Also, the "blanket" between the top sheet and comforter has a "plastic" quality which makes ALOT of noise when one turns over in their sleep. The restaurant carpeting is disgusting; filthy and worn out. The wood flooring/steps are also in great need of repair. November 27, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful view I traveled alone and did not prefer being in the Lanai Building. Felt disconnected from hotel proper. The hotel is great and I will be returning for another quick visit to San Diego soon. I plan to stay at this hotel again. Hope to stay in main building. November 27, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Terrible noise from ventilation fan in restroom Terrible noise keep running from ventilation fan in the restroom,it's very loud, and even can't be turned off. Even I closed the door of restroom, the noise still can be heard. The ventilation hole in the room keep making cold air, also can't be turned off, it's so cold in the night. So I had to turn on the heater air conditioner, however, the air conditoner also made very loud noise, plus the fan noise from ventilation holes, I just like living in a running tank, that's the worst experience I ever have.
