Rated 4 out of 5 by gojko88 Very good option for transit passengers
We took a day room here during our transit at MUC. The hotel isn't in the terminal building itself, but a 10-minute bus ride away, which can be a plus or a minus depending on personal preferences. The hotel itself is nicely furnished, with a classic Bavarian touch, which suits a Sheraton nicely. The check-in area is spacious and modern, with glass lifts, although the hotel only reaches as high up as the first floor. The room was excellent, very quiet (owing to triple-layered windows) and with blinds for weary travellers who want to catch some sleep (like us). The beds are as heavenly as in any Sheraton, while the bathroom is sufficiently large and has all the necessary amenities. The only major drawback was that the hotel restaurant was unable to charge our room service meal to our room for whatever reason - not only does that mean that no SPG points can be obtained for the quite pricey meal, but also that you have to pay in cash, unless you feel like going all the way down to the restaurant for credit card payment, which beats the point of room service. A pretty unfortunate solution. Otherwise, a very good hotel for a reasonable price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TorontoTom Not up to SPG standard
As a very loyal SPG Platinum member, I am very sorry to say, that this stay / hotel failed to live up to the standard of the Sheraton brand. Small, poorly appointed rooms, old, tired looking facilities and a lack of recognition as a SPG member.
This facility really, REALLY needs to improve.

Just 10 minutes by Taxi from Airport and quite convenient for Biz traveller. Even the hotel is very normal Sheraton but the price was unbeatable. The room was clean and well organized and the staff were very kind enough. We also enjoyed nice not German but "Bayerisch" Breakfast. Danke!

Stayed on Starwood points. Have stayed at far nicer Starwood properties for fewer points.
Stayed overnight because of flight schedule. Only hotel in 25 nights out that did not have free wifi in rooms. Used my Starwood gift (gold level) fo this.
Bed was not as comfortable as other Starwood hotels. Was it a Sweet Sleeper or something else?
Restaurant prices were absurd. 17 euros for a sandwich? Not sure if this is standard Minich prices, but sandwich quality didn't
Hotel shuttle is fairly convenient, but expensive if more than 1 person.
Overall,if you have to overnight at the airport it is convenient but I would look at the competition

Just love the country style ambience combined with a high class hotel. Perfect mix so close to the Munich airport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CanuckFromTdot Most comfortable beds ever!
For an airport hotel, the Sheraton Munich's location is a pleasant surprise. Rather than a soulless suburb, it's in a picturesque small town. It's very convenient, just a short drive to the airport, and I believe I saw shuttle buses available as well. The rooms were very comfortable, esp. the beds. I usually don't have a good night's sleep in hotels, but this one was a notable exception. The room included an iron and ironing board; you don't always get this in Europe.
My one suggestion for improvement has to do with the WiFi situation. They offer both paid WiFi anywhere in the hotel and free WiFi in the lobby. However, I was not able to access even the paid WiFi in my room, nor the free WiFi in the lobby. Staff had not encountered this problem with other guests. However, during this trip we stayed in 4 other hotels in different cities, and I had no problems accessing WiFi anywhere else.
Breakfast was not included in our advance-purchase, nonrefundable rate but we decided to pay for it. It was a nice, generous buffet. You have a choice of paying $14.95 for the cold buffet or $23.95 to include hot foods like eggs, sausages, etc. In our experience, the cold buffet was excellent.
I would come here again and would recommend this hotel to others for its combo of convenience / proximity to the airport and comfort / picturesque setting.

Our stay was perfect from the start. We were picked up on time at the hotel bus stop at the Munich Airport and the driver was friendly and helpful. Check-in was a breeze with the staff suggesting we grab a snack at bar, since our arrival was after 11pm. The bartender was fabulous!! He was prompt with everyone's order and I have never seen a bar that was so clean. The stainless steel sparkled! On our second night, he even remembered the appetizer we had the night before. The rooms were neat and clean, and the king bed (2 twins), was large and wonderfully comfortable. Our room overlooked the tranquil garden. Quite a variety of TV channels were offered, along with internet connections. We had the best rest of our two week vacation at this hotel. The breakfast buffet is a bit pricy, but the the quality and variety of food more than made up for it. Great pretzel bread and sausages. Dining at the bar was very good off of the limited menu - try the french fries, and dinner in the restaurant was great. Had the weiner schnitzel and a salad entree. Both were very flavorful and tasty - the chef's personal style came through on each one. Try an ice cream dish for dessert as they use premium quality ice cream and chocolates! The staff was very helpful with our transportation questions we had for Munich, as the local train stations were closed in all major East-West runs for construction that weekend. The guidance they gave us was extremely helpful and minimized our switching of trains. Our last night we sat outside on the patio having drinks. The lager was superb. Being close to the airport you could hear all of the planes overhead. However, once you entered the hotel everything was quiet, as they did a great job with soundproofing. You would never know that you were close to the airport. I would stay at this hotel the next time I'm in Munich

Rated 4 out of 5 by Elizabeth50 Comfortable and easy access to airport via shuttle
I stayed in this hotel twice, once at the beginning of a trip after arriving in Germany from the USA and then again at the end of my trip just before I returned home. The staff were friendly overall. When I checked in after a long flight from the USA, it was morning and I could not get a room right away. So, the staff graciously let me place my bags in a storage room, gave me an internet access code and a table in the restaurant where I could work and eat until the room was ready. There was a lot to choose from for the breakfast buffet. The bedding was soft and comfy. The room was of a nice size and a convenient desk was present. It was very quiet in the room so that I could sleep off the jet lag once I could check in. Self-made coffee was also present in the room. I would definitely visit again.
The rooms could probably use more outlets near the desk for computer equipment and other electronic devices, but that is only a minor problem. There were plenty of outlets in the rest of the room. The hotel is located in a fairly remote area and thus there is no night life, but I'm not someone who wants that kind of thing, anyway. I just want a great restaurant, which is what is available in the hotel.
There was only one thing that was annoying. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the airport shuttle costs for children. I was traveling with my 13-year old son. Posted on the sign at the Munich airport at the shuttle stop was the cost of the shuttle per person per way (5 Euros). Also, posted was a note that kids under a certain age were free. I don't remember anymore if it was 15 or 18 years of age. I do remember distinctly that the age was clearly above my son's age of 13. When we arrived via shuttle at the hotel, I asked about the cost and after the staff consulted with each other they confirmed that the shuttle was free for my son. However, on our second stay, there was different staff at the front desk. When we checked in, I asked for tickets for the next morning for the shuttle back to the airport and got them. The staff also agreed that my son was free. When I checked out in the morning, there was yet another person at the desk, someone whom I had not seen before. When he asked about tickets for the shuttle, I mentioned that I had already gotten them and that I was told that my son was free. The staff person told me that I was wrong about the free part. He also said that he was adding another 5 Euros to my bill to account for my son's ticket. After I tried to explain the discussions with staff and the signage at the airport he told me that they were all wrong, he was right, and that the age limit was UNDER 12. (By the way, there was no mention of an age limit for a free ride at the hotel or online.) Frankly, I really don't care if I pay another 5 Euros or not for my son, but it was very disconcerting and uncomfortable for this staff person to suddenly negate all of the other people who had told me otherwise. I would suggest that they get their story straight about the age limit for the free rides to avoid the uncomfortable discussions like the one I had.
