I stayed at this hotel for a large business conference. The rooms at the hotel were clean as were most the facilities, including our conference rooms. In addition, the front desk staff were very friendly and the shuttle team was fabulous :)
Unfortunately, that is about all that was done well during our stay. It was difficult to get guest rooms to comfortable temperatures (I had the thermostat set to 78 and still slept in a scarf and fleece jacket - there were many individuals with our group who also had the same challenge). The conference rooms we were in were kept at a chilly temperature as well. The staff that served our group lunch and dinners overall were unfriendly, slow to respond to requests, and carried themselves in a manner that suggested we were more of a bother than paying customers. In addition, the meat during two meals was served undercooked and many of the baked potatoes for dinner one night were not fully cooked either, hard in the center, and mine was black and starting to rot on one side.
Again, the building itself was nice and clean and the staff at the bar were all friendly and professional. However, the cons outweigh the pros and many from our group have recommended choosing a different location for our next conference.

After two disappointing times here, I was forced for a third time for a wedding this last weekend and things are even worse than before. First off our room smelled horrible....it smelled like someone smuggled a cat in and it sprayed in there...we called room service and the guy came up (45 minutes later) with a spraqy bottle and took a wiff and said we probavbly need the GOOD room freshener...he left and after two days, never returned...we had to buy our OWN room fresheners but to no avail. Then hours before the wedding I went to iron my clothes and the ironing board was broke...called in to get it replaced and they replaced it with another broken board and the top had wrinkles on it making it impossible to iron smooth clothes....ended up ironing on the floor. Then the hotel book said the bar was open Mon-Friday and Sundays...this was Saturday we were there..we called the bar...no answer....some from our party went down and there was no service.....we called front desk and they said it was open...so we went down and waited another 20 minutes...and everyone there had not been served...I went to the front desk and asked if we were supposed to serve ourselves...he called someone and this lady came out and took care of us....FINALLY So some of those in our party waited almost an HOUR to be served..and by then many had to leave without service because we had to be at the wedding. We will never go back...next time in Des Moines (where we go at least once a month) will be anywhere but the Sheraton.

The Club Lounge is a nice facility but not well staffed. Upon arrival, we asked to order a drink. I saw they served grey goose vodka, so I ordered a dirty grey goose martini. The very pleasant lady informed me that I would have to tell her how to make it because she normally works the front desk. I told her I would be happy to help. I asked if she knew how to make a martini and she said "no." So she let me in the back to see what I could figure out. I told her we needed a cocktail shaker and some ice, but there was no cocktail shaker. So I changed my order to keep it simple and asked for a Captain Morgan's and Gingerale. After a few minutes she told me that the entire hotel was out of gingerale. I asked if they had tonic water and she said yes. So I ordered a vodka tonic with lime. Someone had to bring lime wedges up from the lobby bar. If someone had to bring lime wedges from the bar, why couldn't they bring a dirty martini? If they cannot properly execute cocktails in the club lounge, they should probably just offer beer and wine.
It seemed that staffing in the lounge might be a chicken and egg problem. I assume the lounge was not well staffed because hardly anyone was using it. But perhaps hardly anyone was using it because it was not well staffed.
My key was not properly coded to access the club lounge and after several frustrating attempts, I had to go to the front desk and have the key changed.
The following night, service at the lobby bar was excellent!
I loved the shaving cream offered as a toiletry! One of the best additions ever.
The room was comfortable and well appointed
I had two rooms on the same reservation and they asked if I would like my statement e-mailed. I said yes, but I was only emailed a folio for one of the rooms.
