The food was great and the two free drinks a day was a nice touch. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept well every night. The 4th floor lounge was awesome for that afternoon snack and coffee.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: A beautifully-landscaped and attractive modern property in a good Zona Rosa location but definitely in need of a facelift...especilly in light of newer, more attractive properties nearby.
SPG RECOGNITION: Needs improvement. Despite my Platinum Ambassador status and the obvious availability of higher category rooms, no upgrade was made until I complained regarding my original assignment.
THE ROOM: Large but tired. In need of renovation and a design update.
LOCATION: At the heart of the elegant Zona Rosa district with attractions and shopping/dining venues within walking distance.
EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS: The pool area is quite lovely.
DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS: The food options in the lounge during breakfast and Happy Hour were quite basic and minimal. Quite the opposite when served in the main restaurant during the Lounge’s weekend closure though.
ONE THING TO KNOW: WiFi is very spotty and usually non-existent until they install a router directly in the room.

The rooms were good enough for a night of sleep but had issues with the amenities. The air conditioner was either on or off, control of the temperature and fan thru the thermostat was impossible. The gym was deplorable. No attendant, failing equipment, unclean, no equipment cleaning supplies, and few machines for such a large hotel. I was charged for a bottled water at the cafeteria even tho water was complementary as a guest. The food selection was minimal at best. Internet and power shut off daily. I'm not sure what type of maintenance plan the hotel has but it isn't working.

Having spent over 170 nights at this hotel in the past 18 months I've witnessed how the property has gone from average to bad. The only reason to stay at this property is to accrue SPG points since it's the only Starwood property in the country.
Food is terrible, lounge hours and offerings have been cut, the gym can hardly be called that since it's installed in a corridor and corners are constantly being cut by management. A disgrace to the Sheraton brand.

I received a Platinum upgrade to a suite which was very nice. Thank you for recognizing my Platinum status. Having this status I was informed that I received a welcome drink and my choice of breakfast in the lounge or restaurant. I received my welcome drink and took my breakfast the next morning in the restaurant. However when I checked out I didn’t notice (due to my lack of Spanish comprehension) that I was being billed for both the welcome drink and my included breakfast. I checked out and left. The staff corrected this when I later brought it to their attention but these charges should have not ever made it to my bill. The charges took some time and effort on my part to correct.

Very large and comfortable rooms. A little bit of noise outside of the hotel disturb your rest. The gym needs a lot of improvements.

Everything was par excellence from the food to service to the rooms. Small mishap of one dysfunctional elevator but otherwise superb!! Look forward to go back again next year.

The Sheraton San Salvador has become our home away from home when we need to spend some time in the Capital. I love that it is not just another high rise hotel. The hotel was designed to wrap around the amazing pool area and pretty much every room has great views. The morning breakfast buffet is perfect way to start the day. The best part of the hotel is the staff. They are always friendly and ready to help. I especially appreciate the service I receive at the front desk from Elsy L. Elsy's English is perfect and she always greets me by name and provides platinum room upgrades when available. Things like this make a big difference and the hotel is very lucky to have her at the check in counter to provide such a great first impression. The lounge is also one of the nicer SPG lounges with great food and beverage service, The staff there is also always very attentive. The staff and the pool area are the main things that set this hotel apart.
