Rated 5 out of 5 by Rancher An exceptionally lovely hotel
I was surprised at how nice this hotel was after reading a few equivocal reviews. The worst things I could say about the hotel are that there is a funky carpet on the way to the restaurant that needs to be replaced and that electricity could be made more available to guests.
The hotel is surprisingly close to the city center ....and a beautiful walk to it. Taxis are as cheap as they as ubiquitous if walking is not an option.
I found breakfast to be far beyond expectations, especially the wide variety of way above average pastries. Afternoon snacks in the lounge could be perceived as wanting, but again excellent pastries and good wines made up for the deficit. I think Argentine bakers rival those of Vienna, no matter where one is in the country.
The pool is fabulous....overlooking the valley and large enough to be uncrowded. The views from this hotel are among it's primes attributes. Rooms in the rear of the hotel also have views of the wildernesslike mountainside, as well as the valley. A very interesting staircase, going up all seven floors in stages, hugs and becomes apart of the embeded mountain. I got the feeling that there is not a bad view from any room, however humble, in the entire hotel.
My biggest peeve, and probably not the fault of the hotel, is that with over 80 TV channels, there was not one in English. I became very ill for two days while at the hotel, and was was reduced to watching the Vatican channel and an old movie channel which sometimes had movies with English subtitles and occassional English language movies. I loved watching a dubbed Downton Abbey. Peeve two is that there were very few electrical outlets and I could not work on my computer without sittng on the floor near an outlet...initially. The hotel has no extension cords to lend. Luckily there is a superstore a few blocks away that sells extension cords. I could then use the really beautiful oversized desk in my room. The supreme irony is that internet connection and speed here is way above the norm for Argentina if you can get to an electrical outlet.
As is the custom in Argentina, transitive verb use is not common.....things happen in the vacuum of responsibility. At the Sheraton Salta, this happened much less often than I was accustomed to in the country. I would come back to this hotel in a minute, or perhaps go out of my way to be there. The city of Salta is also one of the hotel's best supporters: It is truly Salta La Linda: a magnificent small accesible city.

Enjoyed my stay at this Sheraton although there is definitely room for improvement.
The hotel is about a 20-25 minute walk from the main square and is on a hill. Provides nice views when in room, but remember you will have to walk back up it when returning. Taxis are cheap however if this is an issue.
1- The front desk staff and bellman are super friendly and nice. They offered me a late checkout until 5pm even though I neglected to request a Your24 prior. Very nice gesture.
2- I was upgraded to a 1 BR corner suite as a Platinum Guest.
3- Nice pool, jacuzzi and gym
4- Free parking
5- Fast Internet (10 Mbps).
The negatives (or areas for improvement):
1- There is a club lounge but no alcohol. Just tea, coffee, water, OJ, finger foods and desserts (from 5-7pm). Why not add a bottle of vino for Platinum guests to enjoy?
2- There was no in-room amenity provided to me. Many hotels offer something like a bottle of wine especially when they don't offer this in their club lounge.
3- Poor choice of pillows - only very firm types, nothing feather or flat.
4- The breakfast which is included for Platinums offers very poor choices. No made to order omelets, no hard boiled eggs, just very runny eggs. And some pretty sad fruit. Really can do a better job here.
5- I also stopped by the restaurant for lunch one day and although the sign stated it should be open, it was closed. Inconvenient on a rainy day.
6- They offer Green Choice but don't provide cards under the door to turn in at checkout. They said just hang the card and we'll make note of it to apply your points. However, I was not provided with the correct # of points. If you're unable to track properly, implement an alternate system.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and I'd come back if in the area. Although hopefully they'd improve on some of the issues I describe.

Sheraton is quality assurance. This particular hotel has the great advantage of having a wonderful view of Salta, open the curtains in the morning or the sunset from the room or from the community pool is beautiful.

Sheraton Salta is a modern and clean hotel in a very nice location, on a hill overlooking the city and yet only 10 min walking distance from the center. The rooms are nicely furnished and clean. The service provided by a nice and friendly staff is excellent. As an SPG Platinum member we got a suite upgrade and could use the lounge during the day and for breakfast.
