Rated 5 out of 5 by Great place to stay, great staff There was a minor problem with the bathroom upon check in. The staff's response was immediate. They relocated us to another room and provided several perks for the inconvenience. The location was ideal for sight seeing. And an added bonus, parking was free. There is also a free shuttle service. If you are traveling to Duluth, this is an excellent place to stay. September 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Duluth Hotel! The staff is what makes this hotel special! Even though many familiar faces are no longer around, Chris and Doug continue to make sure the staff is of exceptional quality! Our family couldn't stop raving about how well everything went and that it seemed like the staff already knew all of us, even if we never met! We had room transitions, bow tie emergencies, a late large breakfast reservation, so we were not easy guests... But, the staff pulled everything off like it was just another day and happy to do it! This shows you really can't replace great hotel management on the front side!!! August 25, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by End of Summer Getaway We drove up to Duluth for a final Summer getaway. The Sheraton is one of only a few places in Duluth that allow dogs. Loved the comfy dog bed for our golden retriever! Treats from the front desk staff were a really nice added touch. Thank you for welcoming our dog! The room was nice, comfortable, but I was really disappointed to have a city view, when I was told we would get a lake view. No towels in the room upon arrival, but the front desk quickly sent some up. Room service was ok. We ordered hamburgers, and not one of them came with tomatoes, lettuce, and pickle, as stated in the menu. It was late, we were hungry, so we let it go. Room service is expensive, so it would be nice to get what actually shows on the menu. Jake, the driver, was fantastic! He is hard working and willing to go above and beyond. He drove me and my two kids to the harbor tours and promptly picked us up when we were ready to come back to the hotel. He asked if there was anything else we needed to make our stay relaxing...that is excellent guest service. Thank you, Jake! August 16, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sheraton Duluth Disappoints My stays at the Sheraton Duluth over the past three years have never been perfect -- nothing terrible, nothing great, just tolerable stays at a Sheraton that doesn’t quite live up to its potential. However, our latest stay this weekend suggests the hotel is moving in the wrong direction. First of all, it’s dirty. The carpet in our guest room was stained and sticky. Other carpeted areas of the hotel – most notably the elevators – could use a good scrubbing too. The sofa in our room had stains on both sides of the cushions and one of the cushions was unraveling around a medium-sized tear. Second, the hotel is not aging well. The fixtures and furnishings are beat up. From our guest room to the bar to the front desk, it was obvious this place hasn’t repaired or replaced furniture at a rate to keep up with use (abuse?) from its guests. Finally, the club lounge is below average. It’s always been below average – often crowded and understaffed – but this weekend was something to behold. The employee didn’t start serving breakfast until 45 minutes after the posted starting time. There was no coffee, no serving utensils, and no service whatsoever. Either the employee was trying to get fired or was in way over her head (and management should not have allowed her to run the breakfast service). Either way, you couldn’t do anything about it, except laugh and eat breakfast somewhere else. The hotel offered a $40 credit on the final bill and the clerk said “everyone had been complaining about the lounge.” For me it’s probably time to try something new in Duluth, which is a shame. The hotel has great potential -- decent pool, good workout area, nice location in an up-and-coming area of downtown with great access to the Lakewalk -- but it just can't seem to deliver.
